so funny seeing cod tards complain about an entry being "the downfall" when theyre the entire reason the industry is in the shit state it is to begin with. Keep pretending you have taste you fricking moron.
If you don't consider COD 4 a genuine hit then you're either senile by now, or a shitty brat that gets his opinions from others and wasn't there when it dropped.
The industry took the wrong message away from Call of Duty, as was shown by Minecraft, Souls, and new Doom, which are each the antithesis of Call of Duty in their own ways. People were thirsty for modern military shooters. Up until that point, almost all military shooters were WW2 games.
By being the trend setters for holding the player's hand alongside Oblivion. "We want the Call of Duty audience" was the rallying cry of every shitty game of the late 00s and early 10s.
BTW, that whole era seems to be being forgotten while games from the early 00s and before are seeing a resurgence. There's some justice out there, I guess.
This. I hated MW3 but at the very least it was the most innovative CoD we've had. >new prestige system (hated it) >introduction of support streaks (hated it) >introduction of Specialist (loved it) >introduction of death chat >introduction of point streak system (best killstreak/point streak system in CoD) >introduction of a magnitude of modes and the comeback of small team modes like 2v2 3v3 Faceoff (only mentioning this because I fricking loved Team Tactical in MW2 and BO1)
MW3's biggest problem was it's shit weapon selection, awful prestige system and dog shit maps. Ghosts had no redeeming qualities about it and was just utter dog shit. The perk system is the only thing in that game that isn't complete and utter dog shit and even then it was still done wrong.
BO4 is when I stopped caring about CoD. I guess maybe Cold War.
BO4 and even BO3 only get the love it gets because recent CoDs have been atrocious. I used to be one of the idiots bigging them up until I realized I only thought these games were good because of the dog shit that it was sandwiched in between. Ghosts, WW2, AW, MW2019, IW.
i deeply enjoyed mw3 >overall fun multiplayer, despite overall less abusable build related stuff >infected gamemode >spec ops missions were way better, did them a lot coop split screen >spec ops had survivor mode which was very fun and a staple of split screen >no p2w yet
The franchise was already on the downward slope with WaW but the franchise hadn't had a bad game till MW3 showed up. At least they sorta learned their lesson and started innovating just a tiny bit with every release
>mw3 didn't innovate
it had it's own fair share of nice things tbh, and brainless innovation for the sake of it was what removed a lot of the charm of cod in post ghosts games
>spec ops greatly expanded, survival mode is a blast >reworked scorestreaks, now it gives options for players who aren't good at getting many kills in a row, specialist for people who just want to be able to gun harder >some new highly played gamemodes such as Infected
Was it? I never got around to playing it. I always assumed it had to be better than MW2 though. That game was broken as hell and the nuke killstreak definitely harmed the game.
>first and second games are about soap >price freed from captivity just to emp the east coast, his story is done >"eh, let's kill off soap because Price is recognizable"
Seriously, frick this game.
MW3 was peak CoD. Launch week MW19 was the second closest peak until they disabled night realism mode and never brought it back, then downgraded map qualities.
>MW3 was the first cod I refunded because it gave me such a disgust >Was waiting for zombies with Bo2 at least >Tranzit happens and was the worst zombies map map >Wait for DLC >Only 2 maps were worth playing >Ghosts was a joke >AW is when lootboxes came to CoD >Bo3 Zombies is pay to win >The Justification of Bo3 being on last gen for any reason >IW selling so poor it made 3arc pump out more DLC for Bo3 to please shareholders >WW2's awful lootbox system and poorly managed zombies >Bo4 not having single player and botched buggy zombies due to devs scrapping nearly everything for BR >MW 2019 becoming buggier and more bloated with updates >CW being rushed and crapped out a year earlier than intended because Sledgehammer was in development hell >Vanguard launching with the worst multiplayer, campaign, and "zombies" in a CoD title to date
How did they consistently frick up so much after one title
>Tranzit happens and was the worst zombies map
Nah I honestly can't bring myself to hate it like some people do. It was very clearly experimental and sometimes that just doesn't work out.
>we will never get another nuke >we will never plant the flag on the reichstag again >we will never see loose ends being tied up again >we will never hear the numbers again >we will never take another dive with Makarov >we will never again make all the right choices and leave a man to suffer alone.
How did it come to this bros? Why did the good times have to end so soon? Even zombies died a sad death.
BO4 is when I stopped caring about CoD. I guess maybe Cold War.

Thanks I love playing pretend while I sip on my juicebox.
I agree that's why i play fromsoft games, the choice of game for a true gamer like me
How did they "ruin" the industry?
Showing that the way to make money is to dumb down and cater to the lowest common denominator such as yourself, you brainless ape
By "dumbing down" what?
Look up the definition, the fact you're oblivious to it speaks volumes.
I know what it means, why don't you further elaborate on your claims instead?

moronic contrarian homosexuals think popular = bad so a game series as popular as COD has ruined gaming forever because a lot of people play it
MW3 > MW2
Ghosts is the game that marked the end of golden age cod
This. I hated MW3 but at the very least it was the most innovative CoD we've had.

That would be after bo2
BO3 was my downfall, mostly because of zombies mode being shit now.
i deeply enjoyed mw3

MW3 was the only CoD game I played and I really enjoyed it as well.
>spec ops missions were way better
Hard disagree
Survival was great though
Battlefield > Modern Warfatrew
They’re both utter trash for normalgay morons but I guess so sure.

the maps sucked to be honest, if they were better people would like this game more
good thread
I couldn't stand the multiplayer. It felt like I was waddling around like a slow penguin. The campaign was actually kino though
wrong game OP
last one I've played. I liked it, even though it's pretty much the exact same game as the previous one.
That was the last decent one
Was it? I never got around to playing it. I always assumed it had to be better than MW2 though. That game was broken as hell and the nuke killstreak definitely harmed the game.
>first and second games are about soap

>NO YOU CAN'T KILL OFF THE MAIN PROTAGONIST HE'S EBIN SPECIAL
MW3 was peak CoD. Launch week MW19 was the second closest peak until they disabled night realism mode and never brought it back, then downgraded map qualities.
I loved MW3. I'd play it right now if I could.
Infection lobbies were fun as frick but that shit with DLC being tied to a fricking subscription mobile app was gay as frick
Yes. Black Ops 1 was the last good call of duty game. Everyone else since has been soulless.
>MW3 was the first cod I refunded because it gave me such a disgust
>Was waiting for zombies with Bo2 at least

>Bo3 Zombies is pay to win
>The Justification of Bo3 being on last gen for any reason
>IW selling so poor it made 3arc pump out more DLC for Bo3 to please shareholders
>WW2's awful lootbox system and poorly managed zombies
>Bo4 not having single player and botched buggy zombies due to devs scrapping nearly everything for BR
>MW 2019 becoming buggier and more bloated with updates

MW3 and BLOPS2 are my favorites of the series. I didn't play the series earlier.
