On the contrary considering primarily people who played the original release would care about the brother/father debacle wouldn't it imply the opposite? I also have to agree with the other anon that disregarding canon doesn't really make you a secondary- particularly when it comes to things that made it into an official release.
Ultimately I think Father works better since it works as a reflection of NieR's ugly soul in a satire on JRPGs, the better Kaine dialogue and the more imposing Shadowlord model are welcome bonuses.
>Caring about canonicity is for r*dditors
Literally the opposite. You're outing yourself as a refugee.
He is right though, only redditors care about what other people say is or isn't canon and have their actions changed because of it >no you can't choose that it's not canon >no you shouldn't equip that armor, it doesn't make canon sense >that ending isn't canon btw >you could do X but the sequel reveals canonically Y happens
It's all bullshit, the second you start thinking outside the box and disregarding it altogether is the second you stop giving a shit about what is and isn't 'canon'
>Caring about canonicity is for r*dditors
Yeah, when it comes character selection/creation, but you're defending a fricking localization change. >Corvo > Emily
Well no shit, it's Stephen Russell. >Alexios > Kassandra
Imagine actually playing nu-asscreed.
Yeah you think, thinking isn't knowing and the purpose of canon is "to know". Brother is canon, being the Official Whatever can be respected without tourists coming in the cry about existing fans. Don't call people redditors while radiating neuroticism
I've only played brother. How do the party members even work with dad Nier? It's a pretty big plot point that both party members are in love with Nier and I can't imagine that's still a thing with dad nier.
Pretty alright. Emil no longer has de gay which IMO makes him more of his own character rather than Taro's misery porn. Kaine kind of sort of still works, especially the scene after king of Facade dies works much better. What comes after a bit less so.
He's a bitter old man with nothing left to live for.
In the same vein, Brother is an abused figure who has everything to lose. So they're both similar in that aspect.
I like Papa Nier better simply because the father-daughter relationship resonates better with me than a brother-sister one. I think Westerners in general have a stronger paternal relationship while Asians have stronger fraternal bonds. A Japan specifically has that myth of the two lovers that reincarnate as siblings.
>loading screens still shows bro nier (not father nier) >timeskip is pointless since nothing about nier changes >romance with kaine is now creepy as shit >50 year old man cries and whimpers like a little b***h in cutscenes >dialogue throws in some more "fricks" and "shits" because it sounds cool and badass to western children >relationships with other characters like Weiss and Emil are just utterly broken and nonsensical >stuck with dubshit >superior remaster of the game makes him noncanon easter egg content
I don't know of any coming of age stories that were improved by having a 60 year old protagonist. Just sounds fricking moronic to me.
>loading screens still shows bro nier
irrelevant >romance with kaine is now creepy as shit
uh no >50 year old man cries and whimpers like a little b***h in cutscenes
masculine man crying is a sign of strength >dialogue throws in some more "fricks" and "shits" because it sounds cool and badass to western children
and in general >relationships with other characters like Weiss and Emil are just utterly broken and nonsensical
no >stuck with dubshit
good >superior remaster of the game makes him noncanon easter egg content
lmao even in your """canon""" remake papa still needs to show up
the opening with a beat up dad protecting his daughter in the post apocolyspe fit better but yeah th rest of the game makes more sense with the brother. though the nier and weiss friendship seems more fun if there both old dudes
Brother is the more well-written story.
There isn't a debate.
Caring about canonicity is for r*dditors
Papa > Brother
Corvo > Emily
OTR Frank > Chuck
Alexios > Kassandra

this. still played both because I had to cope with ending D. then I suddenly had to cope twice.
frick, such a good game.
Papa is so much better it's not even funny
>Corvo > Emily
Unfathomably based
>Caring about canonicity is for r*dditors

based, leave it to a man to save the empire
Who cares
The eternal debate
Five
I'll take the virgin
neither, i go play a good game instead
rose or three
Three. I'd do excrement-play with her all day every day. She's a fricking sicko, gets me rock hard.
My prostitute wife>Two=Five>One>Three>>>Four (BITCH)
Yeah you think, thinking isn't knowing and the purpose of canon is "to know". Brother is canon, being the Official Whatever can be respected without tourists coming in the cry about existing fans. Don't call people redditors while radiating neuroticism
Stupid little Black person b***h, there's even spelling and syntax errors in your shitty little "reply"
And yet I prefer father as a design and feel
Brother is so much better it's not even funny. His dynamics with the other party members is way better too.
Papa is better for comedy
I've only played brother. How do the party members even work with dad Nier? It's a pretty big plot point that both party members are in love with Nier and I can't imagine that's still a thing with dad nier.
It's very awkward
I’m pretty sure Yohna wants to frick her brother also.
Pretty alright. Emil no longer has de gay which IMO makes him more of his own character rather than Taro's misery porn. Kaine kind of sort of still works, especially the scene after king of Facade dies works much better. What comes after a bit less so.
If you think Brother is better you unironically do not deserve to start a family.
Papa ends his family and all the families in the world despite having more life experience than Brother so you don't deserve one either
He's a bitter old man with nothing left to live for.
In the same vein, Brother is an abused figure who has everything to lose. So they're both similar in that aspect.
>Nowe in the pic
into the trash it goes
I THINK NIER SUCKS
hell yeah he does
Play a better family game
Bro is canon of course, but I honestly can't pick a favorite. I like them both equally for their own reasons.
Even the original character artist liked papa better, which was why Taro had him replaced
I like Papa Nier better simply because the father-daughter relationship resonates better with me than a brother-sister one. this is hilarious, top tier bait post

uh no

that looks so fricking goofy
In context, it really isn't.
>But we all know father not only makes more sense he's also the western canon choice
ftfy
the opening with a beat up dad protecting his daughter in the post apocolyspe fit better but yeah th rest of the game makes more sense with the brother. though the nier and weiss friendship seems more fun if there both old dudes
Nah, Papa is better.
I dont know when we started pretending you brothergays were allowed here.
True
I would never sacrifice myself for my sistser
You are not a man.
There's no debate the re-release settled it conclusively.
father going balls deep in hatred and determination to save their daughter hits better than brother. it's just nature.
>muh father and daughter!!!
Yonah isn't even part of the true ending, she's only mentioned, the game is a love story
I like both, though I perfer Papa.
papa gays can only cope as they eternally prove taro right
Taro will just say whatever he thinks will piss off whoever he is talking to so nothing he says matters
