On the contrary considering primarily people who played the original release would care about the brother/father debacle wouldn't it imply the opposite? I also have to agree with the other anon that disregarding canon doesn't really make you a secondary- particularly when it comes to things that made it into an official release.
Ultimately I think Father works better since it works as a reflection of NieR's ugly soul in a satire on JRPGs, the better Kaine dialogue and the more imposing Shadowlord model are welcome bonuses.

I've only played brother. How do the party members even work with dad Nier? It's a pretty big plot point that both party members are in love with Nier and I can't imagine that's still a thing with dad nier.

Pretty alright. Emil no longer has de gay which IMO makes him more of his own character rather than Taro's misery porn. Kaine kind of sort of still works, especially the scene after king of Facade dies works much better. What comes after a bit less so.

I like Papa Nier better simply because the father-daughter relationship resonates better with me than a brother-sister one. I think Westerners in general have a stronger paternal relationship while Asians have stronger fraternal bonds. A Japan specifically has that myth of the two lovers that reincarnate as siblings.
