The DKC games are like the first 3original star wars movies. The first is sort of boring bit still is memorabe because of nostalgia. The sequel improves on everything and feels more alive and feels more polished The 3rd feels sort of rushed and adds new characters nobody really likes and just feels like a step down from the one before it.
It's not a fricking debate unless you're moronic
Both games are fundementally different
Why not throw in Doom too? You jump and have a clear start/exit point
>only one exit to each level >no powerups
Just skimming this I can say with 99.99% certainty whoever made this did not play the game, and so did you if you're posting this unironically.
3/K's has a LOT of godawful bosses. World's arent anything to write home about, though reznor is kind of fun, but theyre mroe jsut easy then poorly designed
3/K also has plenty of awful zones, like casino night 2 , marble gardens, and sandopolis. Once again, world has few that really stand out(but lemmy(?)'s underwater castle is really fun, and the sunken ship is a nice throwback to mario 3
World is objectively more fun based on ability: shields add new elements of gameplay but other than magnetized rings and the flame shield, yoshi and the cape blow 3/K out of the water. Knucles is kinda decent but is flying also goes hand in hand with slow wall climbing. Which also just reminds me how mushroom hill zone has those awful slow hand elevator crank things.
mario is consistently ok while sonic's about high highs and low lows. I think your preference (not just with these two but with the franchises in general) is gonna depend on your tolerance for sifting through muddy troughs to find gold.
3&K is the worst classic Sonic game
Kys kid.
Both true.
DKC2 is vastly inferior to DKC1, the true video game enthusiast's choice of 16-bit platformer.
DKC2 is better than the first game in every way.
DK Jr. is better than DKC
DKC1 has infinitely better pacing. No shitty gimmick levels that stop you in your tracks, just pure platforming the entire runtime
What about Trick Track Treck?
Trick Track Treck still has constant forward momentum
The only level I hate is the Squawks seizure level
>No shitty gimmick levels that stop you in your tracks
In what world did DKC1 not have shitty gimmick levels also?

SMW is the worst classic Mario game
Crash Bandicoot 2 is the blurst Crash game
Mario 64 is the only Mario game I actually liked tbh.

controversial opinion: the knuckles part of s3k is the worst one
No, that's common knowledge.
This is controversial? Sandopolis is easily the worst zone in the entire game
Massive fan of both Knuckles and Yoshi as a kid.
That said, Sonic 3 & Knuckles is almost a non-game if compared to Mario World.
SMW has way more content and is just a lot better designed in general.
SMW is ugly and basic looking.
>SMW has more content
Where? Padding out generic level design is NOT more content, believe it or not.
>I don't like it so it's not content
holy cope
3&K is better. SMB3 mogs them both though.
World already got mogged in 1991.

>no powerups

>that aspect ratio
>those compression artifacts
Sonicfans...
3&K is the best. But Mario 3 is better than World anyway.
>debate
in what universe? Sonic3 isn't even as loved as much as sonic2 meanwhile SMW is as iconic as the original SMB
>SMW is as iconic as the original SMB
Bull.

Sonic is a 1-button game which limits all you can do in it gameplay-wise. You know what else can be played with one button?

>Ludokino
Donkey Kong Country 2
Super Mario World
>Very good
Yoshi's Island
Rocket Knight Adventure
>Cuhringe
Sonic 3
Sonic's graphics are a mushy mess.
The background moving is the biggest mistake in gaming.
