No, with rare exceptions that is not what it is. Halo was a fairly typical TV production where they studied the source material and wrote a new version from the ground up. Every Halo movie attempt was doing the same thing, and they fell apart because MS kept insisting that it be more like the games, and they weren't getting the message that creatively stifling your talent will make them consistently leave for decades. Let them make THEIR version of Halo. This isn't some shitty tie-in movie. It's trying to be a completely new take on Halo for a completely new audience. The guy who made District 9 made that movie with assets from the Halo movie because he was tired of dealing with executive meddling.
