Sasanoo being made into a gay guy is really funny for some reason. He was always depicted as this super pissed warrior in every other game, but smt v did a 180.

Did you read the reviews? The bench is special to Aogami and so are the scenes. Raising his affinity gives you free extra skill points. With the other demons it's literally just a gift exchange and a little dialog. You can also take pictures of them. That's it. It's not the same at all.

The other demons have bond growth to unlock unique conversations too (The gifts are just a way to rush the growth). Then what you get out of them when the bond is high enough are items, or skills and stats (for the demon).
The Aogami one is different (aside from the bench) because the boosts go to the protagonist himself.

There are special scenario quests in the game now where you do more than fetch items and kill demons. There is a quest where you try to take pictures of demons in fake Tokyo with Aogami, another quest where you have to solve riddles, another one where you have to escort a demon through a building that wants to look at old cars, etc. Nahobiho's quest is asking you to help him feel like a big hero like you so you control him and do quests as him for a little bit, probably in like a contained area.
I believe it was in the 20 minute long video right after the Nintendo direct. It's true though. No compendium transfer. You will bring over three demons and be happy.
You also get a few extra consumable items, also one special item for each route you've finished in the original, but they haven't revealed what it is. And yeah, 3 active demons your active party in the last save you've used in the original game. Not your entire compendium.
Demon Haunts being places (accessible through the leylines) where after you raise bonds with demons you unlock unique conversations that give bonus stats/ new skills or items. Also a photo-mode.
That's actually a great change. I figured it was just a random funny extra. I hope various demons can give little insights if you have them at the right times.

I dislike SEGAs business practices and denuvo but I did buy SMT III and it's a chance to buy it on a platform I own. I owned the switch version before, bought it and emulated but this seems enough to make up for the delay.

No, it's a release with a second route. It starts similar to the original game, but some way in it starts diverging into a completely new storyline. OG route is included with QOL updates and you can pick which one you want to play
Original campaign is irredeemable trash, this is why Atlus gave up on trying to fix it and made a new campaign. We will see if it ends up being better cause the original SMT V had such dogshit writing that I find it hard to believe their team can write a competent story.

Eh, the main issue with V's story was how much WASN'T there. You walked around for a long time fighting then suddenly had some short cutscene then exposition dialogue to tell the story to the player since the game barely had story events going on.
At the very least, they seem to be addressing the issue of the secondary disappearing for a long time and doing nothing overall only to return out of nowhere.
It's just someone sperging out that the Aogami relationship build thing is special. They obviously didn't play the original game because they would have known this was coming.

You pick your path at the very start. The first segment still roughly follows the progression of the original game, but with Yoko hanging around with Nahobino all the time (she even talks during side-quests, like badmouthing Apsaras for helping the weak, saying it's pointless since they will remain weak and someone will exploit them), and several bosses replaced by the Qadistu. Then things are completely different after you're done with the first Da'at and return to Tokyo.
Unless they already confirmed how it works, I hope it works like that and we're allowed to recruit the original DLC demons in the Vengeance path. I know we saw Athena in the last trailer, so I'm hoping that's the case.
I'm hoping that they're more integrated in the overworld or something. Since now everyone has that old DLC content no reason why it can't be a part of the story proper.
But I don't see fatlus going that far with it.
Vengeance has an entire second campaign added to it that's seeming to be the same length as the first one. We have to actually wait and see if it's good first.

They literally scrapped the old story and made a completely new one with the same cast and setting.

Dex does outpace magic very late into the game but magic is just consistently good from level 1 to end of the game.
In 4A you can get away with anything, even dex/luck builds are legit since ailments and evasion are strong. Technically STR is the best but all the builds are really close in strength just do whatever you want.

It's not bugged, it's just a really shitty design decision. The damage calculation for physical/melee skills is {(Skill power + (dex + str/2) × 1.5) So, increasing dex improves skill damage twice as much as improving str.
To add to what these other anons are saying, and I doubt you'd do it in a different order but I might as well say it anyways, do IV:A after IV. IV:A pretty much improves on every flaw that IV had and it'll feel worse going back to IV if you do IV:A first.

I guess one more thing I can say about 4A, if you plan to play on apocalypse difficulty you should go str or dex that's because playing that difficulty without critical eye is a miserable experience. If you plan to play on normal I think it's called conflict then magic build is likely the better way to go.
I think that multi hit ice skill is the best one that's because there are lots of end game bosses that are weak to ice and if you use it in combination with magatsuhi dance it deals huge damage, use concentrate gem before dance turn for best result.
smt wiki has all the actual power values, which I'd look at because the in-game descriptions are worthless.
if my three year old memory serves I think thalassic calamity is the strongest mag based skill, but overall phys is just better because the endgame skills do more damage
Divine Arrowfall is more of a midgame crowd control tool for a strength based nahobino since that build takes a bunch of almighty boosts for the later skills. Its surprisingly strong base power wise.
For magic,
The price of getting Almighty +9 (aka what phys builds eventually end up doing), can get you Ice +9, Dark +9 and one other element to about +3 or so. I recommend doing Ice/Dark/Elec since that matches up with your unique abilities.
Ma-spells suck
Concentrate is bad, Impaler's Animus can be useful if you're going to be using the piercing moves.
Ruinous Thunder/Profaned Land/Thalassic Calamity, Breath Moves, ST Spells are your best friends for damage.
Most builds end up throwing out everything except for resist piercing, your actual burst move and a bunch of generic passives.
I've played SMT 1 to 4, and many spin offs, mainly all the DS/3DS ones.
I've also played Persona 2 (the first part) and 5, and Im currently playing P3R, which is nice, but 4 and Strange Journey are still my favorites.

Yes and no. She tells you she's looking for her one and only soulmate from the start of the game and does the whole tsun cliche bullshit with you. When you finish her quest she reveals she knew you were her soulmate the whole time. And the rest goes as you said, her feelings come from the fact she's made out a repurposed Aogami unit. She says that is why he feels like she does. Meaning that all Aogamis would feel the same way about you even if they don't understand it. Before that point Aogami even says there is some feeling inside him he doesn't understand in relation to you and then awkwardly changes the subject and its only later Amanozako provides the context for that scene by extension.
I don't think it's entirely well written because it should be Aogami coming to his own conclusions but myth wise it's a good tie in.

The Protofiends are artificial demons made from the regalia of the 3 head Amatsukami who died in Armageddon. They're mass produced versions of Susano'O, Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu. But because they have their essence they can still react with their originals knowledge to become a proper Nahobino. Koshimizu is incidentally also a protofiend, it's outright stated in the Japanese version of the game, only implied in the english duv.

That's exactly it. Japan suffered the most because of the Conception and Armageddon, they no longer have a standing pantheon for protection and have to rely on foreign occupation in the form of Bethel. The protofiend were originally an attempt at making immortal artifical humans but it was repurposed to an attempt to revive their gods so they would have some military capability against the demons, but the protofiends were all wiped out besides Aogami, Amanozako and Koshimizu. It's not so dissimarl to the national defense divinaties project from IV, only infinitely more cucked by foreign bureaucracy.

The other demons have bond growth to unlock unique conversations too (The gifts are just a way to rush the growth). Then what you get out of them when the bond is high enough are items, or skills and stats (for the demon).

There are special scenario quests in the game now where you do more than fetch items and kill demons. There is a quest where you try to take pictures of demons in fake Tokyo with Aogami, another quest where you have to solve riddles, another one where you have to escort a demon through a building that wants to look at old cars, etc. Nahobiho's quest is asking you to help him feel like a big hero like you so you control him and do quests as him for a little bit, probably in like a contained area.

No, it's a release with a second route. It starts similar to the original game, but some way in it starts diverging into a completely new storyline. OG route is included with QOL updates and you can pick which one you want to play

Eh, the main issue with V's story was how much WASN'T there. You walked around for a long time fighting then suddenly had some short cutscene then exposition dialogue to tell the story to the player since the game barely had story events going on.
At the very least, they seem to be addressing the issue of the secondary disappearing for a long time and doing nothing overall only to return out of nowhere.

The first segment still roughly follows the progression of the original game, but with Yoko hanging around with Nahobino all the time (she even talks during side-quests, like badmouthing Apsaras for helping the weak, saying it's pointless since they will remain weak and someone will exploit them), and several bosses replaced by the Qadistu. Then things are completely different after you're done with the first Da'at and return to Tokyo.

Old story is still available with new quests and the new game mechanics/rebalancing as a second campaign.
Vengeance has an entirely separate story from the original. It starts similar, (but with more characters around and the new villains replace early bosses) but completely diverges by the time the first da'at is over. Obviously we don't know how well executed it will be, but just check the trailer.

The new story seems to be an alternate scenario.
The story starts out the same way, but a choice at the start of the game will make the story diverge more and more untill the plot becomes completely different.

Oh yeah, uhh, STR doesn't do what you think it does in 4. If you want to use physical go DEX in that game. MAG is really good though
In 4 str is bugged and does nothing, literally nothing if you want to deal physical damage you have to go dex but magic is clearly the preferred build 4 points in magic 1 point in agility is good for the entire game. Dex does outpace magic very late into the game but magic is just consistently good from level 1 to end of the game.
In 4A you can get away with anything, even dex/luck builds are legit since ailments and evasion are strong. Technically STR is the best but all the builds are really close in strength just do whatever you want.

STR is bugged and ONLY affects attacks with your melee weapon (a fun challenge run in NG+ though)
It's not bugged, it's just a really shitty design decision. The damage calculation for physical/melee skills is {(Skill power + (dex + str/2) × 1.5) So, increasing dex improves skill damage twice as much as improving str.

To add to what these other anons are saying, and I doubt you'd do it in a different order but I might as well say it anyways, do IV:A after IV. IV:A pretty much improves on every flaw that IV had and it'll feel worse going back to IV if you do IV:A first.

IV is fun even if flawed and while your party members are pretty cringe IV:A probably has the best gameplay in the franchise by far.
Also if you are a chuuni edge enjoyer like me you'll have a field day with one of tge routes.
They are only on the 3ds so you can only play it on that or emulators.
Though I can't tell you how well it runs on the latter.

I guess one more thing I can say about 4A, if you plan to play on apocalypse difficulty you should go str or dex that's because playing that difficulty without critical eye is a miserable experience. If you plan to play on normal I think it's called conflict then magic build is likely the better way to go.

I think that multi hit ice skill is the best one that's because there are lots of end game bosses that are weak to ice and if you use it in combination with magatsuhi dance it deals huge damage, use concentrate gem before dance turn for best result.
smt wiki has all the actual power values, which I'd look at because the in-game descriptions are worthless.
if my three year old memory serves I think thalassic calamity is the strongest mag based skill, but overall phys is just better because the endgame skills do more damage
You can keep Ruinous Thunder for like 85% of the game. Profaned Land isn't terrible either.
Divine Arrowfall is more of a midgame crowd control tool for a strength based nahobino since that build takes a bunch of almighty boosts for the later skills. Its surprisingly strong base power wise.
For magic,
The price of getting Almighty +9 (aka what phys builds eventually end up doing), can get you Ice +9, Dark +9 and one other element to about +3 or so. I recommend doing Ice/Dark/Elec since that matches up with your unique abilities.
Ma-spells suck
Concentrate is bad, Impaler's Animus can be useful if you're going to be using the piercing moves.
Ruinous Thunder/Profaned Land/Thalassic Calamity, Breath Moves, ST Spells are your best friends for damage.
Most builds end up throwing out everything except for resist piercing, your actual burst move and a bunch of generic passives.

I've played SMT 1 to 4, and many spin offs, mainly all the DS/3DS ones.
I've also played Persona 2 (the first part) and 5, and Im currently playing P3R, which is nice, but 4 and Strange Journey are still my favorites.

Yes and no. She tells you she's looking for her one and only soulmate from the start of the game and does the whole tsun cliche bullshit with you. When you finish her quest she reveals she knew you were her soulmate the whole time. And the rest goes as you said, her feelings come from the fact she's made out a repurposed Aogami unit. She says that is why he feels like she does. Meaning that all Aogamis would feel the same way about you even if they don't understand it. Before that point Aogami even says there is some feeling inside him he doesn't understand in relation to you and then awkwardly changes the subject and its only later Amanozako provides the context for that scene by extension.
I don't think it's entirely well written because it should be Aogami coming to his own conclusions but myth wise it's a good tie in.

That's not how children work in shintoism. Gods shit out gods from literally shitting but also have regular children. Those are considered actual family trees. The big 3 have many countless gods with all their various acts. Amanozako is basically just emotional vomit borne from Susano-o's overwhelming emotions that were a combination of his rage over his sister and crying over his mother. She is a rebelious kami as a result.
Amanozako was also made up by some writer for his encyclopedia of youkai relatively recently. That's why the story had stuff about her being artificial.
I don't know why Susano'o has the same thing attached to him though - seems to be deepest lore shit. They talk about him as if he's entirely made up for propaganda reasons. Is that true? The Protofiends are artificial demons made from the regalia of the 3 head Amatsukami who died in Armageddon. They're mass produced versions of Susano'O, Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu. But because they have their essence they can still react with their originals knowledge to become a proper Nahobino. Koshimizu is incidentally also a protofiend, it's outright stated in the Japanese version of the game, only implied in the english duv.

Japan suffered the most because of the Conception and Armageddon, they no longer have a standing pantheon for protection and have to rely on foreign occupation in the form of Bethel. The protofiend were originally an attempt at making immortal artifical humans but it was repurposed to an attempt to revive their gods so they would have some military capability against the demons, but the protofiends were all wiped out besides Aogami, Amanozako and Koshimizu. It's not so dissimarl to the national defense divinaties project from IV, only infinitely more cucked by foreign bureaucracy.
