I really hate how it dramatically reduced the need to summon multiple times which meant the part in the alexander jar storyline where he's sad because he only lets himself be summoned once didn't make any fricking sense anymore.

I haven't seen a game as deliberately unfun as Elden Ring in a long, long time. Which is a shame, because it has a lot of cool ideas, but doesn't know when to stop doing obnoxious shit and also doesn't give the player any meaningful rewards for putting up with its obnoxious shit.

How dramatic was it? the biggest thing he got me with was being tricked into thinking it was a horse fight at first because he's pretending to ride one.

      Anonymous

his second phase's 4 big purple homing balls used to 1 shot people, which kinda sucked since you had to run around until he used them or risk fighting him and dealing with the shit camera getting you smacked by said balls when you can't see them. nerfed version you can tank all 4 just fine

      Anonymous

Most of his hitboxes were made smaller and he had a bit more health pre nerf. Them fixing his hitboxes would have been okay if they made him more difficult in other ways to make up for it, but they just made him easier all-around.

        Anonymous

        They never touched his health.

        Radahn always had no hp.

They shrunk his sword hitboxes, which made him way easier since you can avoid a lot of his attacks by just hugging his crotch, pre-patch you got hit there even though visually sword missed by 2+ metres. They also nerfed the accuracy of his ranged attacks.

These changes would have been great. But they exposed fact that Radahn had no hp, and now that players wernt getting wombo combo’d and had could safely land attacks, Radahn dies way too fast,

The nerfs should’ve happened. But they should’ve doubled his hp at the same time. So fight would last a while. Personally I would’ve given x2.5 hp, but also buffed hp and (slightly) damage of the summons. So you can have a huge battle that actually lasts a while, or a lengthy slog if you insist on doing it solo.

Which still wouldn’t be that bad. Radahn hp x2.5 is only 22,500, or same as Elden Beast (without Radagon).

His arrows tracked massively. You can easily hit o/b right before an arrow is close to you and dodge whether on foot or torrent now. Before the nerf, you would die 99% of the time on torrent

I beat this piece of shit at level 50 because I was hell bent on doing the Lunar covenant quest line as fast as possible because I was utterly convinced the MLGS was waiting for me. I wanted to be one of the first players in the world to be wielding it.

And I was because I spent hours on this piece of shit. God it felt good whittling down his health and finally getting to the second phase. I felt so alive figuring out where to go, who to summon, how to avoid his cheap ass gravity attacks.

I killed him out of sheer brute force by hanging back and summoning everyone I could and casting soul darts at him until I chipped his health away to nothing. I haven't jumped up and down with joy from a boss like this ever in my adult life.

I did end up getting the MLGS early too. It was alright and I enjoyed playing with it for awhile. But I actually found I liked Radahn's swords better in the end, funnily enough.

Fighting anything in the game on horseback just feels like janky cheese. I hated fighting those black knight guys on horse because their "arenas" were full of fricking shit to get hung up on and if you accidentally went 5 feet too far away from them they fricking despawned. And those were the fights you were MEANT to do on horseback; trying to fight the maggot face guys on horseback makes them spaz the absolute frick out.

        Anonymous

I don't know, they give you a big empty arena for both and are the only ones where they allow you to use the horse outside the open world I think.
I thought you were supposed to use it with them, specially with Radahn, who appears riding a horse himself.
I used the horse and you are so fast and the targets so big that they were honestly a joke, but for what I see barely anyone used the horse for them and I don't get why.

Radahn is cool but still wasted potential. Manually summoning and resummoning NPCs using repurposed online functionality during the fight distracts from the combat because you're running around looking for signs constantly, and is waaayy too videogamey. Its like the player is supposed to just imagine that a cooler more in-world version of the fight is happening.

The NPC helpers you want for the fight should have been manually chosen before the fight, they spawn in with you from the start, and all with only one life each, with more health to compensate, you can all actually run in at the same time. The player should actually have to recruit these characters from the world. Right now, Blaidd and Alexander will always be there regardless of whether or not you ever interacted with them. This was done correctly in fricking DS2 and was probably the original intention before they scrapped it for accessibility reasons.

Also Radahn should be stronger, way too easy for a raid boss, and for all the hyping up he gets.

        > Blaidd and Alexander will always be there regardless of whether or not you ever interacted with them
well yeah, because they're on their own quests independent of what you're doing

That DS2 fight you were referencing sucked because you went in without knowledge of having to go around the world for recruits and died for it, which was pretty shitty method of using deaths to teach the player (the dlc was themed around this as the boss beforehand did it too). The fight was cool, once you had like 3 guys, as 4 made it too easy just like radahn.
You shouldn't need to recruit people for it because everyone fighting is here of their own will. It's why you can even summon Tragoth and that other guy, just renowned tarnished all around.

        >This was done correctly in fricking DS2

This dumbass spent time crafting bait for us lol.

You can make a good argument the NPCs shouldn't have to be manually recruited, I think it would make for a unique boss. But the game makes Radahn a result of two questlines for NPCs, you do the shit with Sellen to find out Ranni needs Radahn to die, you let Alexander through the cave or whatever. The effort of doing this is automatically made null when they show up anyway, like I said, it seems like an addition for accessibilities sake because why make questlines complete themselves without the player?

And if you're telling me you actually prefer to spend time during the fight running around the arena looking for summon signs, I don't believe you. There's a reason art of the fight always depicts everyone running in at the same time. Thats what it should be in principle. And why allow them to be resummoned when they could just have more health to start with instead. I'd rather just fight Radahn while I'm in the arena, the summoning should happen before.

I solo radahn on every replay so this doesn't affect me really. Sometimes I'll summon Blaidd or Patches, but he's still balanced around fighting solo if you've got what it takes.
