I liked using monsters and seeing what type of "personality" the monster has based on it's attacks or defending or the like.
I like the simplicity of DQ games and the rare complexity works as a funny moment more than anything big brained. Take DQ11 and Sylvando. He resists almost all charm effects from female enemies. In DQ 8 Angelo would fall for it from those sexy witch monsters more than my 8 or Yangus did.

Someone told me to check out Siralim for my fix but I just couldn't get into it. I don't think anyone has ever cracked the code on what Monsters does well. It's a shame that Pokémon continues to evolve in the wrong direction because it admittedly is a nigh-perfect system.
I loved Siralim, but it's an RNG dungeon delve sim. It doesn't have the same feeling as the few fixed worlds and then RNG key worlds that Monsters 2 had. It felt so immense in scale and scope, and the shit that could happen in those worlds was crazy. Pacing was also excellent, Monsters was fairly fast while Siralim is a grind sim. Similar in goal but really different in execution.
Dragon Quest Monsters games have been pretty consistently good since the start. This one has a lot of monsters that haven't been in the games for years.

How much was the demo content? I just beat the first contest and so far it's pretty boring, I can forgive the initial gameplay and tutorial, but there's too much cutscenes for a game with a mute protagonist
Things start opening up after the contest in the second world. If you're bored so far, there's a chance you still won't like it but even as a veteran the demo does drag a little bit but I think they just wanted to try and drag you into the world before they give you the headliner toy for the series.
Two arenas with three tourneys each (but only the first of both are mandatory) and one and a half new areas to explore.

That whole Hunter Mech/Killing Machine family of monsters goes SO hard.
I kind of love them ever after the DQV story with the dying scientist.
Also, they are usually the first monster that will do double attacks per turn like a boss so they tend to frick you up good.

That fusion (Mazin) might be in Monsters 3! Fingers crossed for sure because I like him too. It won't work the same way as it did in 8 though.
These lil homies are the coolest monsters in the newer age.
I love monsters that have turn wasting attacks that tell a story of some sort. Jailcats being high and staring off into space is a close second for that.

It's a remarkably... okay game. $60 is a ridiculous ask for this, let alone $85. I don't think I'll continue this.
That's how I feel about a lot of games recently, Persona 5 Tactica was an alright game, too easy on even the highest difficulty, but the kicker was that it was just like 20 hours to get to the end and see everything, and that's with them recycling every major boss once to stretch out the little content they made
