People unfairly shit on it to prop up the Carpenter movie, which doesn't do either of them any favors. It's not as good, but it's still a great movie, especially compared to other B horror movies at the time.
Bruh the game has a lot of issues. Like you can test someone, get an all-clear, and then have them instantly morph into a monster because a story beat requires it.
Bro. The game was already clunky on release, nearly a quarter century ago. Giving it a quick coat of paint won't remove the the inherent problems developers figured out like decades ago.
It was a 6/10 twenty years ago, it'll be a 2/10 in 2024.
I made a post while ago how the craziest fricking things are happening in gayming and everyone laughed at me
What now Black folk? who had the thing remastered on their bingo?
I hope they’re gonna finish the game. All of the infection points are just arbitrary triggers. You can test a person one second before where they’d be human and then turn in the next second.
Since it's Nightdive studio, I doubt they'll do anything beyond a graphical overhaul and higher res shit. They won't be touching the inner parts of a game any time soon.
If Universal since they care about preserving their stuff has the source code saved, they let Atari and Nightdive deal with the QoL changes.
Also, i may not be surprised if they take what carpenter wanted to make the game more like RE1
You know, I've thought making my own Thing game. Nothing cutting edge but I've been having fun learning RPG Maker. I could probably sperg out and make an intricate sequel. Lots of branches with replay value, randomizing who starts out infected at the beginning of the game. Fun to think about because I don't want to play a shooter.
I will! I'm still finishing up my first joke game but I've learned enough to make it my next project. It won't be long but it'd be neat to ask the player their background, like a scientist or ex-solider/pilot at the start. Like I said, short run but replayability would be ideal.
Would have preferred a remake. The original game had good ideas but they were buggy and unpolished. Like the trust, fear, and infection systems. Could also use more enemy variety.
>remaster trailer comes out >already played the original from beginning to end a long time ago
Are they just going to keep all the jank and obvious scripted sequences as is?
Personally I rather have games like this get remastered. Remasters should be for flawed or straight up bad games that had potential and neat ideas but we're just poorly implemented. If a game is a 10/10 what's the point of a do over, the original is already good.
>Nothing on Realms of Haunting yet
Work on that already you chuckefricks, Frick GoG for using the shitty NA release and not the bugfixed Euro and Worlwide release!
Prequel film among other things added a plot hole because the guys at the Norwegian base can speak English just fine. So why can't the Helicopter pilot speak English properly?
>the guys at the Norwegian base can speak English just fine
Watch the movie again. Everyone can speak english except 1, who is the guy who tries to shoot the dog thingy at beginning of first movie.
>Could have avoided the entire first movie if literally any other character were able to get into the helicopter and not drop bombs like a moron.
Damn talk about rolling a 1 out of a d20.
One thing I always wondered was if you could figure out who was assimilated by seeing if they did things like read, watch TV, listen to music etc. Because the thing is probably so alien it would only do those things in a poor attempt at fitting in.
One single Jerma stream is all it takes
that and the Spoony review were kino entertainment
But this game infamously sucks ass. Are they finally doing what I've been saying they should do and remaking bad games to make them good?
It's conceptually a bad game too aside from the thing mechanic.
based lol
who gives a frick
Nightdive consoomers are the easiest homosexuals to fool in PC gaming, I swear
>Nightdive
oh jesus christ
so it's _LITERALLY_ gonna be the exact same slopola game, except with updated texture and that's it
Why do you keep lying, anon? Nightdive usually tweaks a lot of stuff on their remasters.
>But this game infamously sucks ass.
I'm so happy I played it before I had Internet and loved it.
This, imagine if they actually put in the effort to make a new game like Isolation
Yikes!
Just watch the og film.
is the black and white movie any good? Only ever watched the carpenter one, which is one of my all time favorite movies
People unfairly shit on it to prop up the Carpenter movie, which doesn't do either of them any favors. It's not as good, but it's still a great movie, especially compared to other B horror movies at the time.
The game takes place after the film
you gotta be frickin kidding me
this is gonna send spoony into another schzio hole
They need to team up in the sequel
>thing sequel
not happening
Wouldn't they both have frozen to death?
Puke and Fuses: Remastered
>remaster
>not a remake
>just a graphical update and port for all platforms
>NOOOOOOOO OLD THING TOO HECKIN CLUNKY
>WHERE IS THE FLOOPIN REMAKE FOR MODERN AUDIENCES
I see you haven't played the game. I finished it multiple times but a lot of its premise is a lie
Bruh the game has a lot of issues. Like you can test someone, get an all-clear, and then have them instantly morph into a monster because a story beat requires it.
You use the tests on yourself to get a loyalty boost.

The game sucked ass and even back then it was known it sucked ass. Seriously go back and watch some gameplay. Its not good.
Remember, John Carpenter himself said this game is the real sequel of the original movie.
And still is.
This game was also on the PS2 and Xbox you gigantic moron
I made a post while ago how the craziest fricking things are happening in gayming and everyone laughed at me
What now Black folk? who had the thing remastered on their bingo?
i just hope they do updated mutation mechanics. i hate that. every single time one of your buddies gets infected, they just look like this.
i want to see some really chaotic shit happen. , bones rearranging to expose tentacles and crab pincers and shit all over the place.
Spoonybros?
*ding*

My man, they are not going to rework any of the fundamentals even if they have the source code. The press release already says it's just a facelift.
And some QoL stuff
>The Thing Remastered
Oh boy can't wait for FUSE BOX COUNT
The Year of the Spoony is now

>Thing game in RPG Maker
Do it, pussy. Bet you won't. I tried making an SCP RPG Maker game back in 2014, but it never came through.
I will! I'm still finishing up my first joke game but I've learned enough to make it my next project. It won't be long but it'd be neat to ask the player their background, like a scientist or ex-solider/pilot at the start. Like I said, short run but replayability would be ideal.

if Carpenter is involved again, this may be happening.
Also ND got their hands on Killing Time source code and assets and there is port coming too
>remaster trailer comes out
>already played the original from beginning to end a long time ago
Are they just going to keep all the jank and obvious scripted sequences as is?
All I want is a proper game made about Tremors movie
That'd be bretty cool anon
Personally I rather have games like this get remastered. Remasters should be for flawed or straight up bad games that had potential and neat ideas but we're just poorly implemented. If a game is a 10/10 what's the point of a do over, the original is already good.
the Smiling Friends episode and now this
WE'RE EATING GOOD, SPOONYBROS
>Nothing on Realms of Haunting yet
Work on that already you chuckefricks, Frick GoG for using the shitty NA release and not the bugfixed Euro and Worlwide release!
but why it wasn't even good back then
Cryostasis: the sleep of reason remaster when?
Arcanum remaster with scalable UI and non dogshit combat when?
Why not remake it to make it good?
Isn't Dead Space 1 and 2 essentially The Thing? It's certainly inspired by it
Prequel film among other things added a plot hole because the guys at the Norwegian base can speak English just fine. So why can't the Helicopter pilot speak English properly?

it was kind of silly to play it out that way instead of just having them all speak Norwegian while we hear English for convenience
One thing I always wondered was if you could figure out who was assimilated by seeing if they did things like read, watch TV, listen to music etc. Because the thing is probably so alien it would only do those things in a poor attempt at fitting in.
>Remake of a shit game
It's funny how many fake gamer shills come out of the woodwork to say how this trash game was a childhood defining moment for them.
YEAR OF THE SPOONY
THE MOVIE WILL BE DONE
