i really enjoyed the setting, atmosphere, and stories. its kinda like playing a van helsing vampire hunter style hunter game but you hunt way more than just vampires and you have a big toolbox to do so. it was neat exploring the world and seeing people who worshipped an underwater deity and in a game that's so dark and grimy you can be bit chivalrous in service to the lady of the lake. there were nice really good side stories that add to the overall world building which helped me enjoy it a lot. the combat was sadly overly simplified in execution but really fun to use, geralt's dancing style and mixing gymnastics into it was really cool. the finishing moves were great fun to see, never saw a video game character jump onto a guys' shoulders and plunge his entire sword down his throat before. for me the setting and a character like geralt was unlike anything else i played at the time and despite the really cheesy voice acting i enjoyed it a lot.

I've been filtered by Diablo fricking II once. Imagine not playing it while liking hack'n'slashes. Fortunately, I returned to it years later. I sold all my games at some point but spared DII for nostalgia value. I return to it every few years for a couple of weeks.

2 is a good game
3 is a great game with many mechanics as good basis for mods, and mods can elevate your experience to new heights

Good writing, quests that require actual moral decisions, not just "collect five boar pelts"
Dark fantasy high politics is fun
It's just a well fleshed out fantasy world, they may be simple and done before but its done well, with ya the adult themes.
