>After BW, yes
BW is the only Pokemon story that isn't garbage. SM/USUM too, but it's too intrusive.
RBY is subtle but also very generic RPG with generic mafia-based villians.
GSC is "we want Giovanni to recognize us"
RSE is the start of Legendary-based plots with villain's theme modeled after legendaries.
DPPt is Gen 3 story 2.0 + Spear Pillar/Distortion World
BW2 is Gen 3 story 3.0 + Plasma Frigate
XY is Gen 3 story 4.0 + Ultimate Weapon
SwSh story is complete garbage as we all know.
Literally zero interesting characters, villains have vague motives, villains have no presence, protagonist is an uninteresting blank slate, the singular character to have an arc over the entire game (Blue) doesn't actually resolve it and it's done in a nonsense way that doesn't adhere to the narrative, the writing and dialogue sucks wiener or is just flat out fricking moronic with a bazillion plot holes and unanswered questions (not in a "dude fill in the blanks way" like with mewtwo that is actually a decent example of good writing, stuff like why is Sabrina trapped in her gym by a lone rocket grunt, why is the guy who stole a dig tm literally just hanging out right by the house with a policeman right there, etc)
Just because RB doesn't actively commit sins does not absolve it of being bland and shitty, and the very structure of the game itself is very heavily based around human characters despite ostensibly doing very little with them in-game
Unironically gen 1 has the best story. You're just a kid training monsters to fight in sporting events and along the way you get into some trouble with the mob. The big world ending plots have always been lame and felt really out of place in Pokemon games.
Yeah.
It's just the most genuine really

what a fricking zoomie way of thinking, not to mention how much straight-up-wrong there is.
"villains have no presence", fricking lmao
>how much straight-up-wrong there is
hello, ESL
thanks for telling me why i'm wrong without explaining why, your angry tears are delicious >inb4 word vomit about muh soul or muh honesty
Yeah this game sucked. Dropped it 2 hours after starting. Who thought that endless boring cutscenes, relentless hand holding, and a plain, ugly "world" would be good?
pokemon stories have never been more than background noise, they're never important and don't have to be, they just exist to service the gameplay. >b-but muh unova
incredibly underdeveloped and doesn't have even a quarter of the quality of an average jrpg plot
Saved for the next romhack thread where trannies start squealing about how le romhack bad because muh story bad
This is the only correct opinion
what jrpgs have better stories than pokemon?
haven't played pic related
Its quicker to list how many JRPGs have a worse story than Pokemon games
Golden Sun, nu-Final Fantasy games, Kingdom Hearts if you can call those JRPGs
>Saved for the next romhack thread where trannies start squealing about how le romhack bad because muh story bad
I mean it's a legitimate complaint if the ROM hack is constantly shoving story and characters in your face like SM did. Can't really ignore the story then as it's forced on the player.

Pokemon games have such ridiculously bad and/or barebones stories that I'm actually fully convinced that they gimp their own writing so as to not alienate children who might be intimidated by the overcomplicated plot and also to cut corners for development time.
>SuMo proved they can do more and just seem to choose not to >BW was good for its time but probably hasn't aged too well, B2W2 was slightly worse in some regards but not awful >ORAS fixed RSE's story but that isn't saying much when it was already pretty bad >SwSh was rushed to hell and back and the storytelling suffered severely for it >RBY, GSC, and DPPt are just basic and lack complexity but aren't terrible
I honestly think PLA is the most coherent story we've had in a long time. Getting banished was pretty interesting even if the reasoning Kamado had was actually moronic, even for a decision made in panic and fear. Having that kind of drama adds some engagement but it should have gone somewhere instead of just kinda getting lampshaded when Mespirit asks you how you felt only to completely not even respond to what you said and let you pass the trial regardless of answers. Felt like they wanted to do something but couldn't. And with all that being said they still leave some shit unanswered or outright undecided/vague like where the frick Volo went, how long Ingo has been in Hisui and if he and the player will find closure, and what will happen to Cogita now that she's served her purpose. I hate how often they just leave these loose ends open and never does GF go back to fix them or anything.
>they gimp their own writing so as to not alienate children who might be intimidated by the overcomplicated plot and also to cut corners for development time.
of course they do that, how is this a revelation to you ^^"
it's usually a good thing too... until it just becomes so incoherent it breaks immersion. say like in SwSh.
OP here, meant to post this
imagine being filtered by a kids' game. embarrassing
>objectively best games in the franchise
>they are... LE BAD
nice bait
After BW, yes.
Objectively wrong.

you didn't prove RBY's story was garbage here, I mean it isn't

But enough about BW
>B-B-BUT WHAT ABOUT-
Unova sucks too homosexual, they all do
Especially Unova
But enough about johto
I think it's funny RBY has one of the best stories by virtue of barely having a story. Really says a lot about Pokemon.
Yeah.
It's just the most genuine really

you lost, genwarturd
Those aren't XY nor SwSh. What kind of copium do you smoke?
XY and swoosh may be bad, but gsc is much worse.
>any pokemon story is worse than XY's
Cease baiting.
DP's story is worse
Yes gsc is worse
kys
fpbp
No.
That’s not Hoenn
Yeah this game sucked. Dropped it 2 hours after starting. Who thought that endless boring cutscenes, relentless hand holding, and a plain, ugly "world" would be good?
why is the thread image PLA opee
Sorry I meant to post gen 2,picked the wrong image

It's funny then how romhacks are literally developing ways for you to skip the story entirely and yet people still cry and complain
KH1 and Days have better stories than your average Pokemon game
It has a fine jrpg plot. Not every jrpg needs to be 40 hour shitshows. What‘s next wanna tell me that xillia has a good story?
More like the most fun story
what jrpgs have better stories than pokemon?
haven't played pic related
>what jrpgs have better stories than pokemon?
unironically all of them except say Kingdom Hearts, if that counts
Hyperdimension neptunia
that’s weird, no one has posted Sword and Shield
Unironically gen 1 has the best story. You're just a kid training monsters to fight in sporting events and along the way you get into some trouble with the mob. The big world ending plots have always been lame and felt really out of place in Pokemon games.
this is why it sold worse than BDSP, the main part of the game is boring.
Yea, it's pretty fricking bad.
