The year is 2024.
The Famicom version of Dance Aerobics (Family Trainer: Aerobics Studio) still cannot be emulated properly because its cartridge had a unique chip playing voice samples form its internal ROM. The sound samples cannot be extracted as binary data without decapping. Nobody has properly dumped that rom to this day.

>playing with sound on
uhhh, anon, you can't be serious...
>playing on phone
uh, anon…
I don't think you understood the joke.
>Nobody has properly dumped that rom to this day.
Sounds like a job for you.
ALLO!
EKAO!
>The sound samples cannot be extracted as binary data without decapping
fr fr just buy the version w no cap
low hanging fruit
Emubabbies on literal suicide watch
Even in 8 bit, 80s aerobic girl is one of the best aesthetics
hell yeah
Bad taste.
the Japanese version of Bases Loaded also had a sound chip like that and it cannot be emulated
We all know nobody on here gets any exercise anyway.
I decapped and uploaded the sound files to youtube. check it out

goddamnit anon, I could hear it before I even clicked it.
jesus christ why is she yelling
lol what frick is that voice? it took me by surprise
what, your speak n spell never got its period?
Why not just decap it, then? It's not like that's something that would take a lot of effort; this is tech from the 80s. That's why we're able to emulate this stuff in the first place. It's like saying you can't copy images out of an old book because no-one makes that specific ink anymore. We have Pantone; just figure out the Pantone and reprint it.
This seems like an example of console-kiddies trying to pretend that you HAVE to play things on outdated plastic toys.
>console-kiddies
the Doom thread is that way, gramps
i think its mostly this, but also because the people who have the ability to decap and get hi-res images of a die, and then reverse engineer it and fully document it have very little interest in doing so for an obscure shitty jap game from the 80s
B-but Anon... We need to archive EVERYTHING
This is also the reason why most stuff hasn't been translated yet. By the time you've actually learned enough Japanese to casually translate text, you probably don't give a shit about translating children's toys from the 80s for the couple dozen EOP who give a shit.
It would be "neat" to have an English translation of Kyouto Hana No Misshitsu Satsujin Jiken, but someone with the level of knowledge to do so has probably moved on to actually paying attention to other aspects of Japanese culture and not obscure adventure games on the Famicom.
I unironically agree... to an extent. The Family Trainer games should be preserved to some extent, but I think for something like this, just recording the sound separately is fine enough. Hell, if Bandai had M2 make a modern collection of the Family Trainer games, they'd probably replace the audio with a cleaner, modern sample anyway.
>I am too lazy to make a translation patch therefore everyone else is as lazy as me
That's a whole lot of projection, bro.
We've had plenty of threads about how this is common with people trying to learn a language for a hobby. People often underestimate how much cultural exposure you need to fully learn a language. By the time you're starting to enter N2, you've either decided to translate professionally or are interested in the rest of Japanese culture. That's partially why fan translations take so long; most people doing translation patches are only at N4 or mid-level N3.
Just ship a copy to cah4e3, he'll correctly dump it & emulate it in a day lmao.
With all due respect for Sanchez's work, I don't think that decapping is in his skill set.
Damn, dude. My emugay FOMO is gonna make me walk right into the ocean if I don't get a Famicom and this Nintendo-tape right now. This is a fairly interesting little fact though, thank you.
>still cannot be emulated properly
This hurts like you wouldn't believe.
This is what happens when you don't excercise properly.
porn of the girl when
There's like one picture of her on pixiv and it is suggestive at best. The rest of her fanart is silly stuff on deviantart.
that's some 2005-ahh shit right there.
Why the flabby thighs if she's an aerobics expert?
We got too wienery emugays. We found the retro version of Handball 17. It's over.
I am going to buy up all the cartridges of this game that I can and then resell at an exorbitantly high price. good luck ripping it or whatever.
They're not worth much, I just got a loose copied shipped from UK to the US for $15 total. CIB is under $100.
They will be worth more once I buy literally all of them for $15 and resell them for $500
No one will buy them, no one cares except me and I already got one.
This. Family Trainer games are worthless because you need the Family Trainer Mat/Power Pad to play them; which are all too damaged to use anymore. There's an Anpanman game in the same boat; no one wants to buy the carts because the only way to play them is some drawing tablet accessory that costs $1000+ because every little kid who had one smashed it or threw it away.
The pads can be found on Ebay for like $20. They should be working ok if the original owner wasn't too rough on it. Also they were designed for 70-90 pound children to jump on, not obese adult neckbeards so probably best not to heft your 200 pound gut on it.
yeah I'm not fat or anything but I'm still a grown adult not an 8 year old so I might be too heavy for the thing and break it
>Pounds
Uuugh. IN KILOS PLEASE!?
is 30-40 kg and 90 kg, my Europoor friend
>70-90 lbs
>children
Maybe in tubba-blubba America.
Lord above; that's the cheapest I've ever seen that thing.
>Lord above; that's the cheapest I've ever seen that thing.
It's a complete boxed package with the cart, manual, and drawing pad. Not a bad deal I would say. And I can't even plug the pad into my toaster NES, alas.
Oh and the Barcode World games that used a barcode reader and cards sold in packs at grocery stores. Good luck ever finding them if you wanted to try it on hardware (however emulators do support this feature).
But they just make a random barcode, not as soulful as scanning your trapper keeper UPC

Boom, here you go if you want it.
Whatever man just do it. I've accepted that anything that isn't dumped now probably won't be because everyone's a giant homosexual anyway.
What are you going to do? Make a horrible click bait video and call it "THE FAMICOMS HIDDEN GEM THAT CAN'T BE EMULATED" and spend 10 minutes hyping the game up as this amazing game you can only play on the OG system?
On a unrelated note is this game playable on a everdrive?
Nope it doesn't work on the n8 pro, but that's expected given extra chips are emulated.
Do games with Famicom expansion audio work on flashcarts on NES consoles? I assume they should, just without extra sound channels as NES lacks necessary cartridge slot pins.
Yes so long as the mapper is otherwise supported it'll play, just without whatever audio components aren't emulated/in hardware.
They'll send the audio down to the bottom expansion connector pins where it can't go anywhere and you'll have missing sound unless you do a mod and solder two pins on the expansion connector together but yes the game will otherwise play. But not FT or Pro Moeru Yakyuu as the sound samples are literally etched into the die of the speech chip so it cannot be emulated.
>huff huff
>HELLO
>LETSGO
hot
Should have been her instead of Wii Fit Trainer in Ultimate.
Jesus that's OBSCENE.
Queen of /vr/
Nooo you can't just use .flac compression to capture the output from the expansion pins reeee
I need the authentic samples from the rom chip.
Okay bro
Look at her go!!
That was a good workout!!
>makes neon-80s obsessed zoombas starve to death
Holy based!
I know an Pixiv artist that would probably do a fun parody of this game.
He's also a bit of a freak when not doing parodies however.
