How can anyone expect that Stormgate will be good when it will be made by the same trannoids that made SC2 so meh?
They are not the same people that made SC1, just the people that made Blizzard the shitshow it is today.
Every Game by ex Blizzard devs is always shit.
sc2 was ground zero for the asiaticification of RTS and completely killing any innovation or memorable stories in the genre in favour of chasing esports.
Cringe
Singleplayer in sc2 is bad. 95% of missions boil to >hey use this unit we introduce in this mission otherwise suck dick >95% of missions have some sort of timer or any other bullshit gimmick >WoL finally becomes good in 3 last missions with all shit introduced and you are free to combine units however you want
As opposed to >build up army for 20 minutes >roll over whatever bullshit is currently present >repeat for every single mission
As is the tried and true gameplay loop for all other RTS'.
and it will never change, RTS is a dead genre at this point with the occasional game that will claim to "revitalize the genre" before coming out as a massive disappointment because they drop literally every fricking ball
its DoA just based off the dogshit mobile game art style they chose
I've always wanted to play SC2 really well. I can beat the campaign on Hard and even Brutal but I still get destroyed in the multiplayer. I like it a lot, but there are so many things to learn.
If Stormgate fails I'll commit to SC2, but only after I find good financial stability, because you basically need to study to play this game well and, well, I'd rather spending this time working.
I don't think it'll flop, I think it'll super fun.
The mains problem with SC2 is that since it register your career and this over focus on competitive gameplay has created a somewhat toxic mindset when it comes to play it.
I hope that Stormgate doesn't register your career, like SC2 does, and just let you play at your own leisure.
My hope is that wtih M$ buying Actvision we may be able to see the skins back, and they may remove this focus on pro level gameplay and focus on fun. SC2 can still remain on top, but the game looks so old, the interfaces, I mean. It needs an overhaul, but it can be done. I wouldn't change the gameplay though, it's great as it is.
>If Stormgate flops I'm abandoning this genre forever.
If an obscure game that didnt show any gameplay yet, may come out in 5 years and you have no idea what it even is flops?
Does your dad work as a dev there or why you put any expectations to it?
it has the alot of gameplay improvements, but it looks like shit, aesthetically speaking
coh 2 was 10 fricking years ago and the maps, environment, unit designs look much cooler
>make a very detailed model and destruction for vehicles >to show it off give them fresh off factory texturing and a light map that makes everything like like plastic >now it looks worse than CoH1/2 and boomers complain
Who is responsible for this blunder?
It is easy to fix
>looks worse than
Visuals don't matter at all when the purported armour system they worked so diligently on consists of a flat reduction to damage taken. On top of that shit sundae vehicles control like they have zero momentum, being able to stop, turn and accelerate on a dime.
A greyhound was about to do HP damage to a tiger from the front from a distance. An MG crew with its ability active was able to damage a panzer4 from the front.
CoH1 wasn't a hardcore representation of the war like Men of War was, but it had some semblance of realism in things that made fricking sense. >Who is responsible for this blunder?
The same people responsible for DoW3
just fricking mix the good parts of coh1 and coh2. unlike ''new bad!'' ''old bad!'' morons here i can see that both coh's had soulful visuals, atmosphere and gameplay. lelic keeps doing everything from scratch.
coh2 was a little gay in 2013 but the unit portraits and visuals were at least not marvel like.
they need to do what i said and also give me the ability to play as osttruppen or penal units and rape partizans and allied commandos

I played supreme commander years ago, I finished Earth and Red factions- forgot their names-.
I remember what I didn’t like about that game was you barely can distinguish between units because they looked the same especially the low level ones. Also I remember I hated that I couldn’t move hug cluster of units together because the fricking game let them walk one by one instead of treading together as ordered.
I absolutely loved the OST though.
Do you recommend me playing the rest?
Btw, is there a way to download it somewhere? Or modding is the only option?
Starship Troopers Terran Command came out last year dude. And They Are Billions is kinda fun.
SC3 and HeXen as possibilities were mentioned when Microsoft wanted to buy Actiblizz. They might've been shit but at least we'd get another game. Who knows now.
Purple war, in spite of the weird ass name, is showing the first steps of a studio capable of at the very least producing something that nearly matches warcraft 3. And hey, if nothing else we can enjoy the age of mythology remaster.
You should give older/less popular RTS a try, they can be pretty unique sometimes.
Recently I've been playing Cossacks, a historical RTS that allows you to control thousands of units and has some interesting mechanics like buildings only being destroyable by artillery but many buildings can be captured by infantry, I rarely see people talk about it here.
Another one is Atrox, a strange take on first Starcraft, has some interesting decisions like not-Terran bunkers being a flying unit, and some unit designs being pretty cool.
Recently I've also played Armies of Exigo, a really mediocre clone of War/Starcraft with some questionable additions like underground map layer like in HoMM.
And there's a lot of other RTS I heard about and plan to try in the future, like Perimeter, Dark Reign, Achron, Dark Omen, Original War and some other stuff.
We need an rts with a real user interface. Mouse control and unit group hotkeys doesn't cut it. Every action and selection should be built up by composable expressions complete with predicates and dynamic queries mapped to keypresses emacs/vim style. A certain amount of ai scripting should be available to apply to unites as well imo.
I played through it a year or two ago, it can be painful to play sometimes. Shit AI and pathfinding make it near impossible to do a direct assault on the enemy base because troops always get scattered and killed off by the towers, so every mission comes down to spamming mages and destroying bases from far away.
The only way new RTSs come along is as esports bait. Publishers simply won't let developers make well-rounded neat little games anymore, everything has to be creating addicts that you milk dry.
Honestly the only thing that could save it at this point is removing all multiplayer.
>the last good RTS game was Company of Heroes 1 released in fricking 2006
feels bad man
it was the perfect RTS
glad that it still lives on with its modding community though.
i just miss queueing up 1v1 and 2v2s on ranked though.
>perfect RTS
it was a great game but let's not kid ourselves here
the MP was ruined by Relic's standard bandaid approach to balancing. two steps back one step forward and all that.
>RTS must purely be match based armies killing each other with no other elements in it
homosexuals like you are what fan the flame for e-sport and the death of RTS.
well the best strategy will always be rushing variations. Enjoy your 10 minutes of gameplay then and remember to make another thread why RTS are dead/ no good RTS/ why there haven't a good RTS then.
If Stormgate flops I'm abandoning this genre forever.
I just can't see how it will be good
You mean the game with the most generic WoW-ass looking bad guys I've ever seen?
Looks nothing like warcraft
I just want co-op to be good. Loved that shit in SC2 but my new PC hates SC2 so I can't play it anymore.

I'm going to study Game Dev.

"playing sc2 well" is a myth. Youll get destroyed 50% of the time NO MATTER WHAT unless you're the top 3 in world.
Just play it. Dont stress so much.

Tooth and Tail was a fun super simplified RTS
This is how I feel too. I really hope Stormgate is good
MOBAs killed the asiaticclick genre
Age of Mythology Retold should be coming out soon. If they don't frick it up it'll be amazing.
Brood war is still the best RTS, company of heroes is a fun casual game.
Come home

It took me some time playing sc2 online to realise i don't like RTS at all
I just want more AOE2 expansions tbh. One new civ and campaign a month would be good.
I've been replaying Supreme Commander lately. That shit is cash.
Can anyone tell me how good is Forged Alliance compared to the basegame?
LETS HOPE THQ doesnt frick it up.

Step aside.

RTS is my favorite genre, I love how it exposes casuls on Ganker and /vst/.
It's a mixed bag. On one hand, yeah, casuals getting exposed, but holy frick there's a lot of them. Which is disheartening.
