I hated oblivion so much and when it was first released I would express my anger at how pure shit it was compared to morrowind at the official morrowind forums. I simply to this day cannot believe that the same people who worked and conjured up the world of morrowind are the same who made oblivion.

Seconded. Oblivion was plenty jank with its level scaling, and npc interactions were hilarious, but I actually remember a lot of its side-quests fondly. Skyrim just made me feel like I was the world's most powerful delivery boy.
Oblivion is literally the worst game out of the three. The other two don't need an essential mod to make the world map vaguely interesting.
The ONLY 2 things I could find that was done better in oblivion was magic builds and Guild quest storylines.
Literally everything else is done better in skyrim. which isn't saying much

I loved Oblivion and my friend lent me his copy of Fallout 3. I fricking hated it. I tried five times over the course of high school and eventually once I got past Three Dog it finally clicked and I did everything in the game

I have never liked a single fallout game, i've put the most hours into New Vegas in the past (I think I used to mod it), they're boring as frick. Same with TES, I almost like Morrowind but the games are so fricking boring.

They were an inflection point towards a steep decay in quality. Neither were terribly bad, but they definitely were lacking.
I recognize the faults of these two games, but as a 12 year old, playing this on my amazing new 360 along with Dead Rising, Halo 3, Gears of War, Alan Wake, Mass Effect 1. It was astonishing how they fit these, at the time, vast worlds on my tv. Haven't felt that wonder, that addiction, that motivation to find and listen to every single crumb of the game since.
When you think about it the elder scrolls games never made any sense. They were supposed to be massive countries with huge cities and massive battles yet you only ever see like 10 people on the screen at once, and the cities are like 4 houses.
Fallout made way more sense as it's after an apocalypse; everyone is dead.
