they didn't. 8/10.
You can mod in the original sound effects on PC. There's like 25% of the soul missing from the remake right there.

It's already out and yea some aspects of it are pretty fricked. Official release date is in like 4 days hopefully they can do some solid patches. Game overall is fun.
the only thing explicitly fricked up is monkey target
also the fact that the original soundtrack is paywalled
How do you frick up monkey target?
>New soundtrack isn't good, old soundtrack is DLC
b-bros...
You are no longer in control of your momentum in Target. They let you roll down the slope like before, but it has this really weird exaggerated forward velocity because they expected everyone to immediate gun it straight forward. If you deviate from this forward path at all the scripted sequence pulls a modern 3D Sonic and completely fricks up, guaranteeing you'll never actually reach the targets.
bizarre. I wonder if the game was rushed
The actual flying part is fine (as far as I can tell) as long as you do the launch correctly. But they had to recreate the launch as it was in the original, and it seems like they just couldn't get it right. The launch itself takes control away as soon as you get to the end of the ramp and spits you straight up in a scripted animation. It seems like they really wanted Target to start from there, and the roll down the ramp is just a formality they didn't think so many people would break.
Overall I'm enjoying it. It's not perfect though. Biggest issues are
>Locked at 60fps on PC
>Monkey Target/some other mini games have fricked physics
>The sound effects are almost all worse
>New soundtrack isn't good, old soundtrack is DLC
>The new "modes" are just really small packs of 10 levels each, doesn't last long at all
Everything else is pretty solid. I was worried about not them removing lives, but in order to complete all missions you have to complete each difficulty within an X amount of fallouts so there's still some skill mastery needed to unlock everything. For example, SMB1 expert + extra stages requires you do it all in less than 99 fallouts, which your first time playing will probably double that
Also you can avoid the really shitty "rain drop" stepping sound effect the balls make by playing as one of the consoles
it makes no sense for it to be locked to 60 fps considering the previous game on pc was unlocked
It's odd because the menus are unlocked, they run just fine. In game though it locks to 60. I'm wondering if they're using framerate to calculate physics like dummies
You wonder if Sega did something moronic?
Minigames are fricked but campaign is mostly fine lives frickery aside.
>Keep the bananas in the same spots
>Going for the bananas WILL result in falling out
Did they even test this shit?
>>Going for the bananas WILL result in falling out
works on my machine 🙂
Wow, thanks for the confirmation. Be prepared for this webm to be reposted in response to that video from now on.
Still looks utterly shit and slow compared to the original
it's only like 1 second slower (and I'm not even good at the game)
looks slow as shit, can you post some of the stages that rely on stupidly fast downhill momentum?
DOLELESS
>NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOT THE HECKIN' SLOPERINOS!!!!
I hate their feet so much. I want some sexy monkey toes
>Not the physics and the heckin targeterios
>I bought brewskis for the coop multiplayerino, bros, and I'm too lazy to pass a controller without in-game rulerinos
Dial 8, drink your tonic water, and frick off to your Discord
>I'm too lazy to pass a controller without in-game rulerinos
That or it's annoying to have to go back to atage select after every stage, which isn't even an option in Challenge mode.
> Basic fundamental of an entire game series is removed
> "NO NOT MY HECKIN' THING"
