Yume Nikki is pretty much the same concept, just with no budget and therefore in 2D. And it was released in 2004, which makes it retro.

Eastern Mind is definitely a better acid game than LSD; LSD has a cool style but it's just way too unstructured, and within 20 minutes you've seen everything.

this is simply untrue, the game gets MUCH crazier the longer you stick with your playthrough.
Yes and no, it's the same locations and set pieces with four different textures which then are warped to varying degrees. It's not that deep really, but it is a cool game nevertheless. If you have audio EQ you can crank the high end way down to make the walking sounds less grating but that's more of a personal preference.
Some people may find something like PO'ed trippy because of the visual design, something like Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem could be considered trippy for its fourth wall breaking deceptions. Armed and Delirious/Dementia is far less dynamic (ha ha) when compared to LSD: Dream Emulator and yet has a larger body of content locked behind intentionally absurd situational puzzles, does that make it more or less trippy? Trippiness is a tentatively subjective definition, evidenced by the fact all games are trippy when you're tripping on LSD.
