Me. I bought the ultimate doom trilogy when I was about 16 to replace my original copies of Doom and Doom 2 which were stolen by movers (and then a couple years later fricking movers broke the discs for the Ultimate Doom Trilogy). Also bought Strife off Amazon back when I was 18.

>Why aren't there public libraries for video games?
People have more incentive to steal video games than books.

Maybe people would have less incentive to steal video games if they could borrow them at a library instead 🙂
You check out and return books after a certain period of time at a public library. They also work because there's not much of a market for stolen books (especially books that are very worn as is the case for a lot of library books) so there's no real incentive for people to steal them. Video games on the other hand are a common target for theft so letting people freely check out and return video games after a certain amount of time just wouldn't work.
You could just let people borrow a digital copy that expires after your time is up. There's no excuse to not give people free access to culture in the current year.

No because the people stealing copies of video games are stealing them so they can boost them, not so they can play them you sheltered moron.
If they're digital then there's no point in having them at a public library in the first place, moron.

Would you buy stolen games from a guy if you knew you could get them for free whenever you wanted to? It would at least make them less worth stealing.
>If they're digital then there's no point in having them at a public library in the first place
I'd argue instead that if they are digital there's no point in making people pay for them.

There are. They're called "public libraries." They have games you can borrow, just like books and movies.

Frick off. Give the name of the game / mod either in the filename or in your actual post. People are fricking tired of asking for the name of things when they shouldn't have to. Put some fricking effort into posting.
I played both 1 and Afterglow recently and loved them. I thought I was burnt out on Doom mods but this one rekindled my joy. Really superb sound effects in particular, and they did a great job with spooky darkness and the lantern. Also very satisfying to shoot enemies, yes it's a Doom base so you expect the shooting to be good but the weapons and enemy health feel finely tuned.
It really sucks that the Doom community is so unmaginative and boring. All they make is the same fricking weapon mods with the same guns and no new enemies or the same boring mappacks you've played a thousand times before. Stuff like Ashes is exceedingly rare. The Half-Life community is far better and more creative in this regard
>reloading >nausueating tilting >iron-sights >startup animations/weapon inspect animations >drawn out deaths that make enemies and fricks up if you actually kill them >doom guy never shutting the frick up >Doom 2016/Eternal hud/UI >400 weapons with special modifications and only using the biggest shotgun/BFGs >melee glory kills >RTX/relighitng/gzdoom feature remake of E1 >gzdoom shitting itself if more then 20 monsters on the screen >Don't turn off anti-aliasing whihc is on by default in gzdoom >completley breaking maps jumping around and noclipping if its a switch hunt map
Yup, it's DOOM time
Hideous Destructor has to be one of the worst weapons wads I've played. I can respect how ambitious it is but ultimately a weapon wad needs to compliment the map wads you're playing it with. Hideous Destructor not only renders most map wads completely unplayable but it also renders a fair number of maps from the base games unplayable as well. It just doesn't work as a weapon mod. It needs maps balanced around its tactical design to go with it.
HD is an overhaul, not a weapon pack. There are lots of other changes beyond the guns and I don't think maps can really be completed unless you are in coop
It's a genius mod, but I hate it too. Not for me.
I'm not easily offended but that Holocaust level almost felt like a massive shitpost
Episode 3 was terrible anyway
That level got the author banned from a forum, not sure if they kicked him off the mod team but every modder including the brutal doom creator and that troon that had that recent implosion were trying to kick him out of the community over it.
maybe but it looks like hot garbage, has no story, characters, dialogue, cut scenes. i can get better games than that like love hina rpg for free off newgrounds.
daily reminder that if it needs GZdoom and doesn't run on any other source port it's as close to a doom mod as any game made in UE is an unreal tournament mod
I revisited Brutal Doom this year and it... wasn't as good as I remembered. Layers of mechanics that doesn't blend together very well or feel cohesive, when not a pain in the ass or completly useless. Anyway,
Brutal Doom is pretty horribly balanced, especially the SSG. You've rarely ever got any incentive to use anything else since it basically just annihilates everything. The new weapons it adds are generally pretty useless as well, especially since they're always at the bottom of each weapon category (want to use the HMG? Gotta cycle through the chainguns and assault rifle first. Want to use the auto shotgun? Gotta cycle through the SSG and shotgun first.). Having more than one or two weapons assigned to each weapon key is always a terrible decision since Doom by default lacks either a weapon limit to keep your weapon slots from getting too cluttered or a bucket system like Half Life so juggling a frick ton of weapons just becomes a pain in the ass.
One game, changing planets, characters, environments, some kind of fan Duke sequel. Sort of like an Avengers thing in the Duke universe.
Nothing like it out there with that scope.
Ashes and it's sequel are easily now one of my favorite games on the planet. Speaking of doom mods I started the Strange Aeons maps with some weapon pack on top. I forget it's name but it lets you throw your hat. Pretty cool maps in Strange Aeons. Also if no one has played Venturous yet do it. Another great was that turns your doom into Indiana Jones.
Most people who make these kinds of mods/wads etc have no idea why the base game is popular and end up making them to appease a niche audience or just miss the point entirely

AMC is fantastic, but I still like Ashes a lot more. For one, AMC suffers with a really hit or miss map design (with some truly abhorrent abortions here and there) and some parts (especially the earlier episodes) have some straight up moronic design decisions (like le loud jumpscare on every turn). That said, it is still great and everyone should play it. But Ashes are just better experience.
Too bad no one under the age of 50 owns doom.
2 gays lol
>Doom
Zoomers OUT!
It's a doom mod.

its a standalone u zoomie
I'm over 30 and Doom (wads) is the only game I've consistently played for the past decade.

What a dumb b***h you are not even being able to use a built in feature.
That is YOUR responsibility before posting. Everyone else doesn't want to reverse image search for possibly several minutes. Go the frick away.

God damn you're fricking moronic.

Yes.
What is it
Ashes 2063. It's a free game you can download off moddb.

man ur probably new to the modding scene
i prefer map packs to most gameplay mods, honestly. all of them make you too OP.

He hid a Fallout: Miami easter egg somewhere, and we have an arcade machine featuring his work in return.

Yup, it's DOOM time
you forgot screen shake when you fire your weapon
I liked it. 2063 is a bit short and samey, but Afterglow is goat-tier.
booba
no i will not play your mod, besides its been done before
And both are shit. Honestly I find its pace quite weak.
A
wtf, hdoom got a fallout reskin?
Ashes 2063? Nah...
Ashes WAD with Hideous? Frick yeah...
Hideous Destructor has to be one of the worst weapons wads I've played. I can respect how ambitious it is but ultimately a weapon wad needs to compliment the map wads you're playing it with. CANT FIND AFTERGLOW ON RUTORRENT WTF
>Torrenting a .wad/.pk3
Why?
It's not like it weights like 50 GB or something. I don't get it either.
>mouselook
Frick off
I just love when little poser morons like you pretend Doom didn't always have mouse-look so you can try to fit in
He probably means freelook. But he is still moronic for caring about that in a thread about gzdoom mod, which is Doom at this point in name only.
You couldn't look up or down until Heretic.
I fricking love Doom wads. Playing pic related and EVERY SINGLE LEVEL so far is designed insanely well. I would legitimately pay for this.

EAT HIS FLESH

I beat 2063 in two sittings (without dead man walking) and liked it a lot, it's about 5 hours
the only thing that comes close is Ion Fury, all else is trash
daily reminder that if it needs GZdoom and doesn't run on any other source port it's as close to a doom mod as any game made in UE is an unreal tournament mod
Soviet submarine was fun
If you think shitting bricks is fun, sure.
Shitting bricks IS fun. That level was the best horror game I've played since Amnesia.
I played Brutal Doom and had fun. I'm ready to spread my modding wings.
What are the "must play Ganker approved" free Doom mods?
I revisited Brutal Doom this year and it... wasn't as good as I remembered. Layers of mechanics that doesn't blend together very well or feel cohesive, when not a pain in the ass or completly useless. Anyway,

Ah yes, Fp06qybagAEdRSw.jpg is such an awesome mod!
I am about to delete this game.
I hate game with maps that looks like mazes.
ITT: mods that are better than AAA games.
>AMC SQUAD
>doom-like
It's just run and shoot. It's hard to frick up something as simple.
You're saying these are the same games?
One game, changing planets, characters, environments, some kind of fan Duke sequel. Sort of like an Avengers thing in the Duke universe.

does anyone remember the name of that doom mod that's like ww1 but with demons and you're a crusader?

I really hate how the second part of Afterglow is just mutants or beasts and you're always hurting for ammo.
I wish people would embrace simpler maps. I can't stand every level being 300 enemy slog.
Most people who make these kinds of mods/wads etc have no idea why the base game is popular and end up making them to appease a niche audience or just miss the point entirely
Nothing wrong with making what you like.
A modder is not modding for money so even if only one other soul likes his mod he will be satisfied.
