This game is not good.
Screen is cluttered with all sorts of bullshit, numbers flying everywhere.
So many menus of various trash, feels like some mmo.
Also for whatever reason my character won't hit the enemy sometimes, despite still having stamina.
Honestly it looks like some Ubisoft attempt at souls games.
Am I doing something wrong or the game really is bad? I'm like 1 hour in.

I'm quite positive the "A" button is used to dodge/dash, not attack.

Do the dojo training missions to learn the combat system properly since that's where the fun in this game lies. As far as loot goes just pick whatever has the highest number. Builds only start mattering in NG+. Try out all weapon types and use the ones you like best. They're all good.
If you can't do that consider yourself filtered.
I figured it, I tend to accidentally press RT sometimes so it locks me out from attacking.
Another tip I can give you is to always block, even when dodging. Enemies (even mobs) do a lot more damage than they do in fromsoft games so it'll save your life more than once.

This game is great because if you pick a female character and then return to the tutorial you will see her in bare feet wearing training robes. I thought that was really hot. The combat is pretty good too.

Yeah but the game doesn't let you unequip your armour down to only your fundosho sadly. You have to equip something.

Just go to the equipped item and press a to unequip.
