This game pisses me off to no end cause I love this setting so much but it's wasted on not only a ubislop piece of shit, but the worst one they've released up to that point and possibly since. A game so fricking bad that its easily in the top couple of worst games I've ever played. Are there any other games like this, about american cults or cults in general, which dont fricking suck? Is the open world really so bad? Haven't played a farcry since 3 and blood dragon.
I thought if nothing else 5 would be good for mucking about the countryside and shooting animals like a good, corn-fed American.
Kinda the same with 4. I like the rural mountain country.
The open world itself is alright but every mechanic around it, both story and gameplay, is seemingly designed specifically to be as annoying as possible.

This game just gets in your way when you are trying to enjoy it.
for example you want to finish main story? do random bullshit sidequests and after that you think they give you good story mission? no. they give you sameish sidequest but this time with different npc you have to kill. traveling around the map is slow. discovering the map is pain in the ass. difficulty is bad either too easy or too hard depending if you have m60 or not. there is no point in doing outposts silently since you can just kill 2 beavers and you will get the same reward with less pain. doing anything in this game other than prepper's stashes is pointless and painfull but you are forced to do it to unlock another story mission aka sidequest. Problem is Far cry 5 is forcing you to play it while having the worst gameplay of the series. you could just rush story missions in fc3 and 4 but in those games gameplay was pleasant slop while in this piece of shit gameplay is painfull slop

All of the Far Cry 3 guys must have left because all they had to do was slightly improve on the concept each game. Instead they kept trying to replicate Vaas, but they failed every time.

Not him, but I also liked it a lot, at least compared to the other far cry games I've played. The music, setting and general atmosphere is what makes it imo. It's just something about the setting, the loading screens, the vibes. The gameplay and story isn't anything to write home about, but that's pretty much the case with any far cry game.

I liked it. It's not some kind of masterpiece and the tone is all over the fricking place, but I only play a new Far Cry game every 10 years or so and it essentially did exactly what it needed to do. There are plenty of things wrong with it but they weren't enough to make me dislike it.

I played a lot of PC and PS2 era shovelware, but yes you're right, I usually do not play whatever is the newest triple A laughing stock. What is it now, is it still Suicide Squad? Even the shittiest of mid 2000's shovelware, those garbage games where seemingly the biggest challenge sometimes is not getting yourself softlocked, even those games with all their broken voice acting and scripts I can atleast say are endearing, honest, the devs were slavic morons who dont know their way around a computer and yet they still tried to make a game. The great tragedy of shit like Far Cry 5 is that its not incompetent, its hostile to you, it's maliciously working against you. If something fricking sucks in a City Interactive game or something its because the dev was incompetent, if something sucks in Far Cry its not because the dev was incompetent, its cause they made the conscious and deliberate choice for it to fricking suck despite their abilities to make it not so. That is, in my mind, inexcusable.
