I saw blood will tell at my used video game store, they wanted over 200 bucks for it, I bought my copy for like 10 dollars a few years ago. this market sucks ass
For the most part I don't believe that there's such a thing as a wrong opinion, but this is the only game that I always assume someone has to be lying about ever playing when they put it in a top horror/game list, as much as I see it pop up in them. I like some games that are widely considered to be shitty, but I can't see how anyone could squeeze a drop of enjoyment out of the gameplay of Rule of Rose. The high point of the entire game is walking around the first part of the blimp at the start of the game, before the game gives you any real objective. At this point most people are still absorbing the atmosphere of the game and probably thinking 'Huh, okay, I can see this being a good horror setting'. From that moment on the experience is a drop straight off of shit mountain.
i remember this getting really shitty review scores and opinions about it years before it became THE "hidden gem". I wonder what spurred the new interest in it, was it people seeing its low print run, it being published by Atlus or just all the survival horror zoomer boom that happened where they wanted every title on the PS2?(even that fricking X-Files PS2 game shoot up in price cause of it)
How does this actually stack up compared to Kuon and Haunting Ground?
Also pretty sure the ip owners wanted to do a modern port of this so im sure they will make their money and people will actually get to see its not all that great.
>How does this actually stack up compared to Kuon and Haunting Ground?
Haven't played Kuon, but Haunting Ground is a great game. People mention them together a lot because of the similar costs, definitely not the gameplay.
usually when video games get this expensive it's not because actual collectors are willing to pay this much for them, but because some sellers artifically boosted their prices by asking their friend/mom/whatever to buy it and give it back, giving the impression online that these games actually get sold for these prices
- and it works, now most people unironically believe that these games worth >$1000
brb, just going to artificially jack up the price of Spawn: Armageddon for PS2 (used) to $2000 a piece, so I can finally pawn it off for more than $5, and start saving up for a new PC (which can play every PS2 game on emulators at enhanced resolution and framerate).
Kinda fascinating, I bought this and a few SMT games factory new for 20 each from some UK online shop. Must be leftover stock, but produced way after their original run since the PEGI labels are from 2009 or so.
Yesterday I asked someone on here who said that they paid $600 for this game how many times that they've played it. If you're reading this, how many times have you played it? Have you beaten it yet?
Technology couldn't stop people from bootlegging obscure horror movies, no way it could stop people from ripping games.
But hey, you could still sell it for $600 maybe.
emulated and beat it just recently I've enjoyed the story and have researched it's nuances.
The combat it atrocious the game has lots of padding and is basically just a fetch quest but I enjoyed it mostly.
The combat is genuinely complete fricking shit and results in some of the most frustrating boss fights in the genre. It's a perfect example of something you only suffer through if you like the non-gameplay elements (in other words, not a good game).
I have an unopened copy I picked up way back when I worked at Gamestop. Never got around to playing it. I guess that's a good thing. Gives me something to brag about, at least.
All games made by Kimura are artsy fartsy hobo hipster trash for whiffing one's own wafting farts of self-importance. Moon is another overrated hunk of shit that should cost less than a bat of soap.
It's really not a very good game
God has abandoned us

all of those list are bullshit

Kuon is pretty good. It takes a bit to get going, but it's very good.
This. I like Kuon a lot
game is dreadfully boring and tedious fetch quests with very little that actually makes you want to keep playing it
usually when video games get this expensive it's not because actual collectors are willing to pay this much for them, but because some sellers artifically boosted their prices by asking their friend/mom/whatever to buy it and give it back, giving the impression online that these games actually get sold for these prices

I think a lot of people just enjoy the story and are impressed that the developers could step out of their comfort zone and make a game like it
the better rare PS2 horror is Haunting Grounds
This was a 20€ game ~two years ago. "Yeah, I'll pick it up sometime later."
fml
Maybe in the EU. I bought my copy for $150 two years ago and that was below market price.
Frick you.
Kinda fascinating, I bought this and a few SMT games factory new for 20 each from some UK online shop. Must be leftover stock, but produced way after their original run since the PEGI labels are from 2009 or so.
How come it's so expensive in NA?
I'm guessing a small group of people have a monopoly on most of the copies over here and have artificially inflated the price.
>525
>plus shipping
howling
Wow, I saw a relative playing it for like 15 minutes years ago and it seemed to be a great game. Surprised at the replies here.
The story is good, the gameplay is mediocre.
Close, my brother found it for $20 in a bargain bin a few years back
Think again, shitbird.
cool, free shipping
Australia only
>50hz only
doesn't matter, most of these game never go above 30fps
That just means that the PAL version is 25fps instead of 30fps, so even worse.
I don't think so, I don't remember any difference between the PAL and NTSC-U versions of Silent Hill 3
PAL Silent Hill supports 60hz, Rule of Rose doesn't.
505 gaem cost are now in the 4 digits holyshit
SO CUTE
SO CUTE
SO CUTE
Michigan was the better niche spooky game. Only the Japanese version with the cut content, though, the western release was awful.
Play something worth a shit
Great game but it's another one that's overpriced by meme collectors.
That one at least got a PSN release on PS3, so if you’re the moral type the most you’ll have to pay is $10. It’s something at least.
What, God Hand is supposed to be a luxury good too now?
Yep, the physical copy is in the hundreds now.
Yesterday I asked someone on here who said that they paid $600 for this game how many times that they've played it. If you're reading this, how many times have you played it? Have you beaten it yet?
This shit is free on archive.org. Get a Free MCBoot memory card and enjoy.
Frick whoever originally ripped this game. My copy would be immensely more valuable if you dirty poors literally couldn't touch it.
Suck my dick from the back.
Paypigs btfo also it's saved now for posterity.
>My copy
It's OUR copy, comrade.
Technology couldn't stop people from bootlegging obscure horror movies, no way it could stop people from ripping games.
But hey, you could still sell it for $600 maybe.
wtf i love digital preservation now
emulated and beat it just recently I've enjoyed the story and have researched it's nuances.
The combat it atrocious the game has lots of padding and is basically just a fetch quest but I enjoyed it mostly.
Also I'd like Diana bully me
IT'S A MASTERPIECE BECAUSE I PAID $600 FOR IT OK??????
People always say survival horror games have bad gameplay. How bad can this really be?
The combat is genuinely complete fricking shit and results in some of the most frustrating boss fights in the genre. It's a perfect example of something you only suffer through if you like the non-gameplay elements (in other words, not a good game).
I got haunting ground for $80 two years ago and now it’s like $250+. What happened?
bidenbucks
I have an unopened copy I picked up way back when I worked at Gamestop. Never got around to playing it. I guess that's a good thing. Gives me something to brag about, at least.
Me too. Too lazy to play it, so my copy is sealed.
I pirated rule of rose and enjoyed it enough to buy it. Got it for $12 on ebay. I pirated it for the e-girls, not gonna lie.
I just wanna play dot hack part 4 homies
