I felt that way after Sun and Moon. Couldn’t even finish Sun, didn’t bother with Sword or Shield, and got back into the franchise with Scarlet. I was experiencing burn out because I didn’t have a life.
Listen, sweaty, Pokémon is all about the merchandise now. It doesn't matter that the games are having progressively less to do in them other than the bare minimum. You'll buy it anyway because it's a social experience with your friends and family members who are also into the series and less critical of what they're spending on. And you don't want to be left out of something everyone else is enjoying, right sweaty?
