I actually prefer S2s slower paced, more methodical/tactical style, however I think the weapons and specials just ruin it too much.
S3 doesnt just suffer from bad maps, I think the hyper autismo gameplay also ruins whatever tactical side the games had and pushes everyone to play short range slayers or backline camping weapons. Support is just dead
S1 still has kino maps like S2 had, but finds a good balance of speed and slow movement that I think just is the best.
Yeah, I really like Splat1 stages. Splat3 stages are really lacking in verticality and flanking routes in comparison, giving rise to charger homosexualry and other stuff. Also, balance notwithstanding, I can use and enjoy any type of weapon, sub and special in Splatoon 1 (depending on the mode and stages) but in 3 it seems that the sub and special combinations for like 80% of the weapons are simply grating to use, making them completely unenjoyable for me.

Idk, but when I was looking at things to nominate for the steam awards, I realized I'd only played like 6 games total during 2023, let alone games from that year.
I have like a decade of 360 and independent games to play. I haven't bought a game brand new since Master Chief Collection dropped on steam.
2023 was the year of the AAA slop that nobody liked.
