Its a sort of rental service of games, and all the games are Ganker thinks all the games are shit, but when steam sales come, most of Ganker shows carts with moslty gamepass titles in them which is peak comedy.
Also >Who cares about AAA garbage, GP is shit
A month with great indie games: >Lol, only indie garbage, GP is shit
you don't own the games you buy on Steam either, i'm a pirate but i'd pay for gamepass tbh, seems like the most efficient way to spend your money in this shit industry nowadays, but ngl, the fact that they remove some games after some time is so fricking lame
Poorgay here, I just get gamepass with microsoft points. If you are autistic enough to get your rewards every day gamepass is basically free forever, and you can still have left some points to spare and buy games outside of it.
They make something like $4B in revenue from GP per year. They still make money from game sales so you can’t really charge the entire cost of development against GP revenue, and they aren’t typically getting huge third party games day 1, so I’d be very surprised if GP wasn’t currently profitable.
I understand most of this board being too young to have ever rented a game, but be against the idea of renting? Why do you want to own so much trash? People used to rent everything and only buy like 3 games a year. Publishers tricked you into wanting to own everything when they started charging $10 for online passes during the 360/ps3 gen.
People who never knew rental plans from places like Blockbuster existed, where you can watch/play the new shit day-1 if there was enough copies in stock to grab it.
It's just shills, 100%. Best way to be sure is when their definition of "owning" a game has to involve buying it. Piracy guarantees your game will never be taken away from you but they're against it because they have a product to sell.
I thought renting was moronic even then. >pay money >1 week/1 month later >have nothing
Then again, I'm different because I only play good games that might get replayed later, and because I only ever pay for convenience. Piracy is the only way to own anything.
>pay $5 for short game you'll never play again after you beat it >spent $5 >buy $60 game that you'll beat once and never play again >spent $60
is it so hard to do math?
You can spend no money and play vidya just fine if you're not an idiot. Or you can spend money and play good vidya instead of shit vidya that you never want to touch again after beating.
I swear 90% of people who play videogames don't even like them. They treat them like a chore, paying for the privilege and then trying to finish them as quickly as possible so they can throw them away forever.
If you never want to play a game again after the first week or month or whatever after you got it, that means the game was shit. $0 is too much to much to pay to waste your time on something like that, if you wanted me to do it you'd have to pay me a salary.

>good vidya instead of shit vidya that you never want to touch again after beating
I don't think it has to do with good or bad, it's more like if you have the tism that makes you want to do the same shit over and over again

Look at every hobby in existence, don't they involve repeating some activity a person enjoys?
Chess, fishing, skydiving, hiking, wargaming, boardgames, whatever. The point is that the hobbyist has found something they enjoy doing, something worth repeating. You people don't enjoy playing videogames, maybe you do it because you've never found a hobby you actually enjoy, maybe you're just wasting time and videogames are marginally better than TV or something, I don't know. But you'd obviously rather be doing something else.
Nta but why should I play the same game again when I could be playing something else.
Why are you so desperate to stop playing a game? Weren't you playing it because you enjoyed playing it to begin with, why would you want it to end?
Some of my favorite games of all time I only ever beat once or twice.
How would you feel if someone said chess was their favourite game, but also they've only ever played one match?
If it's your favourite game why don't you play it again right now? There's nothing stopping you presumably (unless you rented).
I've typically seen two reasons people do that. Normalgays are afraid of missing out on conversations or experiences, so they constantly have to put all their time into whatever the new big thing is. And other people just have some weird phobia of "wasting" time by repeating something, as if playing a videogame could ever not be a waste of time by those idiotic standards.

Playing the same video game over and over again is like playing the same chess match over and over again

I'd guess that sounded like a solid response when you typed it, but I suggest you think about it and consider whether you really believe that.

few years ago i would say rentals like gaypass are dogshit, but with so much overpriced single player trash locked behind uncracked denuvo and not too many wortwhile online games, it's not that bad
Renting is the economically adventitious strategy most of the time, exceeded only piracy which is basically just cheat mode activated.
>get gamepass for a month >beat the game >play some other games >month expires and you don't renew >want to play the game a year later >it now costs $15 >you just saved $40-60
>buy game at launch/shortly after >beat it >want to play a year later >play >you've paid $60-80
And this is the best-case scenario where you actually liked the game and want to replay it.
I would gladly dump 99% of the games in my steam library for the price I paid for them or even at 50% off.
I'll be subbing for 1 month in Sept to play starfield, lies of p and the amnesia bunker game that came out earlier this year. I think paying 5 bucks from key site to play 3 games is good value.
cdkeys usually has them for around that price. It varies from month to month. I've got 1 month keys there for 3 euro 1 month but then next month it could be 7 euro.
Gamers used to rent when you could go down to Blockbuster and mom would let you rent a video game while she rented a movie to watch.
Then they grew up and became PC/Steamchads who buy games to own at $5 instead of renting a console game for $5 to try to beat it before the rental is due for return.
>Steamchads
Pcbros are insufferable. Steam is easily best shop with the only competitor in terms of quality being GOG that has no-DRM installers, but holy frick every turd that Gaben shits out gets praised like there's no tomorrow.
I guarantee you that if Valve allowed you to rent games tomorrow, everybody would be praising how revolutionary and great it is.
I see 1 game I'm mildly interested to maybe buy on sale in the next 2-3 years if it turns out decent but I have my suspicions it will be shit. Lies of P. Everything else I will never play guaranteed.
This is just stuff you're renting and will never own but if it makes you feel like you're getting value by all means cover yourself in that security blanket .
Yes, that's kind of the point of renting. If I wanted to own any of those games on xbox, I'd just buy them on the store. I really don't get this argument, it's completely moronic.
It would, if you want to play it a year later. You can also play Baldur's Gate 2 instead of 3. It's a lot cheaper and has more bug fixes than the new one. Getting things when they are new commands a premium and just buying them later is not equivalent to getting them now.
If that was not the case, bank interest would not exist.
So insane, bro
you couldn't pay me to play any of that garbage
That's a lot of games to pay you. Get a job.
Not even Sea of Stars?? It is pure kino of the highest level.
what the frick is game pass
its when you rent games and shit about them on Ganker

So, steam?

I love posts like yours made by idiots.
Was that supposed to be a defence of gamepass? It's shit just like all of those others. I don't pay for any of them.
I'll pass on that. I prefer to not pay anything.
>value
Video games are a waste of time
Does Xbox even make money of game pass or do they make money of people who haven't cancelled their subscription.
Poorgay here, I just get gamepass with microsoft points. If you are autistic enough to get your rewards every day gamepass is basically free forever, and you can still have left some points to spare and buy games outside of it.

For those who care or want to play these games, sure, for someone who doesn't, however..
Xbox? More like Xbro. Does Gamepass discount any games you have for it or was that a lie?
It does now because they merged it with Gold.
10% is too little. Does xbox have constant sales like playstation?
Every single week there is a sale, sometimes multiple sales.
I got 3 years of Game Pass Ultimate for free due to a loophole during the Oreos event, and even I feel ripped off.
I understand most of this board being too young to have ever rented a game, but be against the idea of renting? Why do you want to own so much trash? Blockbuster was not a fricking service being pushed by one of the biggest players in the gaming market
Blockbuster itself was on of the biggest players in the gaming market.
Frick you. Hollywood Video 4 lyfe

>bro you could just not spend any money ever and simply not play vidya
You can spend no money and play vidya just fine if you're not an idiot. Or you can spend money and play good vidya instead of shit vidya that you never want to touch again after beating.

lmao, true console user
For real, they're the purest form of consoomer- buy, consoom (not even fully) and move on to the next product.
Only autists are happy playing the same shit over and over and over again
If I get the urge to replay a GP game 5 years down the line I’ll buy it for the $5 it’ll cost then
You're in the wrong neighbourhood, tourist 🙂
I see nothing wrong with this, games aren't fun to play more than once
You're playing shit games then
I've played lots of games that autists say have replay value (like RE games) and never felt like replaying them
>games aren't fun to play more than once
AAA shit, eh?
few years ago i would say rentals like gaypass are dogshit, but with so much overpriced single player trash locked behind uncracked denuvo and not too many wortwhile online games, it's not that bad
You call those games "overpriced single player trash" but still want to play them, what gives? Do you like playing games you yourself call trash?
Renting is the economically adventitious strategy most of the time, exceeded only piracy which is basically just cheat mode activated.

Wouldn't make a difference. Nobody wants to play that pseudo-mmo openworld slop anyway.

Impressive.
Tell me which games would make it worth to pay for GP?
You won't, because you know you're a disingenuous snoytendie malding and dilating
torrenting them all and then buying them if their good to directly support the devs is better value
