DAO is such a mediocre game, it baffles me that it has such a big fanbase
And this one manages to be even worse
Haven't even bothered trying Inquisition
inquisition is mediocre-ish, i liked playing as an Inquisitor with my own throne but other than that i had to skip 60% of the gameplay using cheats just to experience the dialogue itself.
Inquisition would have been a lot better if they trimmed down the side content and focused more on the story. As it stands, there's like 10 hours of main story content, and the rest is just pointless busy work and filler.
I can't understand it at all either, for a cRPG the combat and party management is garbage and it's as generic as you can get. It's not like an awful game but it's popularity and acclaim doesn't align with it's mediocrity

Does it have a big fanbase?
DA:O was basically a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate and then DA2 was a pile of dogshit
DA:I was somewhere between the two and didn't please anyone
I think it does have a big fanbase, the way they talk about it you would think it was the best rpg ever made. DAO is actually worse than baldurs gate though
The rushed dev cycle kept Bioware from filling the project with padding like DAO and later DAI
Real time combat was superior to the sluggish combat of the predecessor or the failed hybrid combat of DAI
and finally, giving the protagonist a static name created a strong anchor to the overall narrative. When the supporting cast can address the lead by name, and not a title, the player’s investment increases tenfold

have a nice day
it had potential but the quick turnaround time by EA squandered it. and now Bioware will never attempt at anything outside it's own little box as we saw in Inquisition.
I personally enjoyed it, even if it was a mess. It introduced me to the series and I think it was also my first Bioware game. They clearly had a vision with DA2 but couldn't properly fulfuil it due to EA rushing it out the door. If there's ever been a game that needed a proper remake, it's DA2. But I don't trust Bioware, nor anyone else to do it.
>They clearly had a vision with DA2
Not even remotely.
The story of DA2 is as follows: >DA:O is out the door as the last non-EA Bioware project and does well >the original team leaves behind plans for a DLC to DA:O on their way out - everyone that makes a real salary is fired >EA, smelling money, takes those ideas and forces their new team of 20-somethings to make a full game out of it in months
There was no plan, there was no story beyond a few beat ideas, the game was released with missing assets and before enemy placement could be worked out.
There are literally 4 dungeons total and every single instance is one of those 4 maps with different doors opened or closed
Anon DA2 is one of the worst games ever made.
Not a single aspect of the game is competent. Everything from the graphics to the writing to the gameplay to the bugtesting is supremely fricked.
When someone tells me they enjoyed DA2 it tells me they are completely fricking braindead.
>combat system built around positioning and aggro management and AoEs >enemies teleport into the arena in waves at random positions
Hilarious incompetence
>a sequel to a shit game is shit

No, that's the only good DA game.
Correct

Side note, Isabella was stacked

Don’t tell me you self-insert
>loose curvy brown waifu
Izzy was perfect. Rogues were god tier in that game, too, so she was fun to use.

>kinda
Bioware has never made a good game
Simple as

this one is particularly bad because it's EA trying to see how long they could stretch a turd.

DA2 is kino.
>Tfw playing as a Blood Mage and no one in Kirkwall says anything
Unironically my favorite DA game
Origins is the only good DA game
>combat system built around positioning and aggro management and AoEs
>enemies teleport into the arena in waves at random positions
Hilarious incompetence
