Because including currently acting political figure in your video game, movie or book has 100% chance of not aligning with how said figure will be viewed after all is said and done. Time has to pass before we can fully understand, in context of what was happening next, in context of documents uncovered and published, what was happening and were people in the lead good, bad, or something in-between.

Now more specifically, while I'm russian, not ukranian, I think our peoples have plenty similarities, and one thing that happens without a fail is that once %current country leader% retires, people quickly start talking very loudly about how shit he actually was. By putting other "win" in quotation marks I meant a formal victory, something like simply stopping the war without gaining back all invaded territories. While technically it's a victory, it's obviously far from perfect, or even good.
If you ask me my opinion on "will Ukraine win or lose" I can't give any. Depending on where you look, both sides are simultaneously in state of: disgraceful defeat; defeat; stalemate; fake stalemate (one side simply decided to not push for Reasons); victory; overwhelming victory. Only way to know for sure is to find a magic lamp and ask a jinn to implant all factual information inside your head. Might also ask jinn to make you unable to go crazy.
I do hope conflict ends next year (or even this year, but that, again, requires some magic), because this madness has to end, and I do hope that this "end" includes radical changes in russian government, because those idiots are rushing us straight into becoming USA 0.5 (all negatives of, no positives of).

Plus keep in mind that it's an excellent opportunity to field test a lot of modern hardware against an -on paper at least - near-peer enemy army and get an idea of what modern war actually looks like. It's a bit of a distorted picture because air power is largely absent (Ukies barely have an air force and the Russkies don't seem to be capable of fully committing their air force due to Ukie air defences), but it's better than nothing.

The Kakhovka Dam is busted, so the canal that ran from it is gone, so commercial agriculture is basically impossible on the peninsula.
They're inheriting massive damage in all their occupied territory. And a hostile population.
100,000's of young people are dead, exasperating their horrible demographic crisis.
I guess they gained territory on the map, and some population. But the war also lost them millions of their best and brightest citizens because of brain drain.
There's zero chance of full military victory for Russia at this point. Every offensive is going to net territory in the dozens of square miles, not thousands.
I guess their best hope is to destabilize Ukraine. Erode public trust in the government. Set up sockpuppet candidates and get one of their guys elected (the standard Russian playbook). Then get a peace that favors them. This would be some vow for Ukraine to never join Western unions, and leaves Russia in a good position to launch another war a decade from now on better terms.
Ukraine's maximalist goal is to retake all territory from 2014, which is probably not possible. A goal the public would probably accept would be a return to pre-war borders, but without occupying that territory, but that's just not possible with Putin still living.
The most realistic victory, would be stopping the war with borders similar to what's on the battlefield now, and integrating with The West. Integration with The West is the absolute most important thing Ukraine can achieve. The loss of territory and people is very painful, but joining the West is the only way to escape this happening again.

On the other hand, inclusion of what seems to be a location outside the Zone is most welcome. I recently read the picnic, and realized that stalker games really lacked on interaction with rest of the world. Would be cool to have actual mechanic of going in and out of Zone, negotiating prices for artifacts and so on.
Although probably it won't be happening in this game.
On side note, I really dislike how those cutscenes look. Zoomers may piss and shit themselves, but I think that HL2's "stand while people talk" worked better, at least you could make some distance and have personal space again.

Why not?
Because including currently acting political figure in your video game, movie or book has 100% chance of not aligning with how said figure will be viewed after all is said and done. Time has to pass before we can fully understand, in context of what was happening next, in context of documents uncovered and published, what was happening and were people in the lead good, bad, or something in-between.

Now more specifically, while I'm russian, not ukranian, I think our peoples have plenty similarities, and one thing that happens without a fail is that once %current country leader% retires, people quickly start talking very loudly about how shit he actually was. This happened with first president Eltsin, it happened with most general secretaries of USSR, Stalin, and at least with some of the latest emperors. Probably it happened like that with others too, but becaue it was two and more centuries ago, amount of available info that survived to this day is scarce (compared to amount of info that existed).
I have little doubts that once Zelensky steps down people will hate his guts, or at least strongly dislike him, EVEN if he manages to win or "win" the war.

By putting other "win" in quotation marks I meant a formal victory, something like simply stopping the war without gaining back all invaded territories. While technically it's a victory, it's obviously far from perfect, or even good.
If you ask me my opinion on "will Ukraine win or lose" I can't give any. Depending on where you look, both sides are simultaneously in state of: disgraceful defeat; defeat; stalemate; fake stalemate (one side simply decided to not push for Reasons); victory; overwhelming victory. Only way to know for sure is to find a magic lamp and ask a jinn to implant all factual information inside your head. Might also ask jinn to make you unable to go crazy.
I do hope conflict ends next year (or even this year, but that, again, requires some magic), because this madness has to end, and I do hope that this "end" includes radical changes in russian government, because those idiots are rushing us straight into becoming USA 0.5 (all negatives of, no positives of).

Then get a peace that favors them. This would be some vow for Ukraine to never join Western unions, and leaves Russia in a good position to launch another war a decade from now on better terms.
Ukraine's maximalist goal is to retake all territory from 2014, which is probably not possible. A goal the public would probably accept would be a return to pre-war borders, but without occupying that territory, but that's just not possible with Putin still living.
The most realistic victory, would be stopping the war with borders similar to what's on the battlefield now, and integrating with The West. Integration with The West is the absolute most important thing Ukraine can achieve. The loss of territory and people is very painful, but joining the West is the only way to escape this happening again.

This is pretty obvious. The demos they showcased so far all have pretty glaring issues that won't be saved by a patch or two.
