This was the best platformer ever made when it came out, prove me wrong.

the jumping is kinda floaty but I dig how ambitious it was with how the levels work
it also captures the early 90s zeitgeist with how cool the kid is.
It felt like a euro or american platformer.
Because it was. The game was a Sega of America production via their Technical Institute.
>Kid Chameleon
>1992
Not even close
Why do you choose to be an Amerijanker? Play something better.
Very good, but it really needed passwords.
Playing long games with limited continues like KC or could be a little stressful.
Unless you knew how the hidden stage warps worked. Hope you've been reading the gaming magazines.
I've never heard of this game but I don't see a Nintendo logo on the cover so you must be wrong.
It came out after Sonic 1. But I actually quite like the game. It definitely has that "american platformer" feel to it, but it's still a fun time.
Mario is better than anything on the Gaynesis
Western developed Sega SLOP
Sega was always a beautiful israeli-American company.
Great game but it really needed a password system.
I'd say this is true for most late 80's and early 90's stuff, passwords felt like a luxury most of the time...
It's not fun to play, some good ideas, terrible execution
Level design was shit, there, I proved you wrong. Pretty cool power ups though.
This was how I felt every time I tried to play it. Costumes and abilities were cool, levels felt like a mess and none were really that distinguishable from the others.
I disagree. For such a long game it's quite varied and has a good amount of songs and scenarios compared to Super Mario World. The costumes also change the rules frequently.
It's also true that long games like Kid Chameleon or DKC are always going to be a little more repetitive than games like Dynamite Headdy or Castlevania Bloodlines, that are constantly throwing new obstacles, graphics and enemies at you.
does throttling make the skateboard go faster?
Die!
Scared the shit out of kid me.
The game is cursed, as in it's literally haunted. Do not play it.
Me too. The murder wall level also scared the frick out of me. I never felt safe in the following levels, I thought it would show up if you waited around too long.
And this was the easiest one. Bloody Swamp has been responsible for the end of many a run.
It's the best "Mario-like" of the era.
It wasn't even the best platformer in spring of 1992
contrarian bait
>got this game without a manual as a kid
>never knew how to spend your gems with A + start
>somehow accidentally trigger it three separate times
It drove me nuts trying to get it to happen again.
>Kid Chameleon
>is not an anthropomorphic chameleon
Biggest lie I've ever been told
This game actually is pretty great. I'd say it's in my top 10 list of games that I like a lot but don't have the patience to beat.
But you're the one making the initial claim, anon?
some games are a simple, beautiful portrait
kid chameleon is one of those landscape paintings where an old battle is going on, and a hundred different things are happening
looks like some skill and a lot of passion went into it, and at the very least it gives you a lot.
its one of those games that you really needed to read the instruction booklet to understand the controls and functions of the costumes.
Go back to SegaRetro, Sega of America shill
