I doubt this. There will definitely be another FF MMO at some point, but I think it's still 10+ years away. Probably need to get a few expansions deep into this next cycle of XIV expansions before they take away a bunch of people to work on a new MMO from the ground up.

It forces the devs to make every job of an archetype play close to the same for easier balancing since if the only job someone leveled up falls from grace, they are fricked since they would have to spend days grinding another job instead of being able to use the other job of their class instead like SCH/SMN.
With the upcoming expansion it's gonna be 20 fricking jobs (not counting BLU) to level up and half of them play next tot the same because of it.
Sadly they need to add stuff to level since that's a way to keep people (casuals) playing.
I do like the idea of picking your subclass based on which fight you're doing and have all of them specialize on different things, but at this point that's just a pipe dream.

as someone who has either all 31 jobs or classes at max or less than 10 levels to max.
It still doesn't change the fact that in a kind of MMO that overly focuses on its current level max, asking people to keep up with leveling all that shit if they were more audacious with their job design (to prevent problems in the case their job heavily fell from grace) would be moronic, having some jobs tied to the same class so that multiple jobs would get leveled up at the same time would help massively. >"SCH is shit with the latest changes? It wouldn't completely prevent problems if the devs dared make jobs more distinct from each other but it would at least lower this kind of fear. It's not like we don't already have some lore reasons that could justify some jobs being tied to the same class.
I like every job but whether or not I like their artifact armor is another thing entirely, but generally I find at least one artifact set I like and can live with. Currently wearing Diadochos aiming with artifact goggles on Machinist, and dyed the Reaper chest red to use it as a Chrono Trigger Magus glamour. Everybody else either gets pure AF armor or they get other gear paired with AF gear. I don't like Pictomancer's artifact I don't like FF6 in general so Pictomancer sounded atrociously boring to me until I saw it in action so I'll figure out some kind of painter glamour.
Yeah, but if they'd done that, they wouldn't have been able to get people to shell out money for her outfit when it inevitably ends up in the cash shop.

Well yeah, FFVI Pictomancer is a painter themed Beastmaster. Relm can only draw enemies that are present in the battle and randomly use one of their attacks, unless she equips the False Mustache which lets her directly control them.
Im aware of Pictomancer being a job in earlier games. But its still a silly unrealistic design. I could just walk up and punch them in the face and disarm them.

They haven't added a new class since rogue.
Gutting out the class system was the most stupid idea they had and the more jobs they add the more obvious it becomes since you have to level up more and more shit and SCH/SMN showed that having the same class absolutely doesn't mean they play the same.
It forces the devs to make every job of an archetype play close to the same for easier balancing since if the only job someone leveled up falls from grace, they are fricked since they would have to spend days grinding another job instead of being able to use the other job of their class instead like SCH/SMN.
With the upcoming expansion it's gonna be 20 fricking jobs (not counting BLU) to level up and half of them play next tot the same because of it.
Sadly they need to add stuff to level since that's a way to keep people (casuals) playing.
I do like the idea of picking your subclass based on which fight you're doing and have all of them specialize on different things, but at this point that's just a pipe dream.
Jobs being homogenized has nothing to do with the removal of the class system you dingus. All that's done is cut out an unnecessary middle man step to continue leveling up.
Leveling jobs does not take that long if you sit down and do it.

It still doesn't change the fact that in a kind of MMO that overly focuses on its current level max, asking people to keep up with leveling all that shit if they were more audacious with their job design (to prevent problems in the case their job heavily fell from grace) would be moronic, having some jobs tied to the same class so that multiple jobs would get leveled up at the same time would help massively.

I like every job but whether or not I like their artifact armor is another thing entirely, but generally I find at least one artifact set I like and can live with. Currently wearing Diadochos aiming with artifact goggles on Machinist, and dyed the Reaper chest red to use it as a Chrono Trigger Magus glamour. Everybody else either gets pure AF armor or they get other gear paired with AF gear. I don't like Pictomancer's artifact I don't like FF6 in general so Pictomancer sounded atrociously boring to me until I saw it in action so I'll figure out some kind of painter glamour.
Then there's me wishing they'd just given Krile the Pictomancer AF gear because it'd be way more sekkuso than the fricking Mario outfit she got.
