He pierces armor until Auron joins. After that, uh... he fights Biran and Yenke?
    >Summoner may pass, guardians may pass, Kimahri not pass!
Frick, even that would've been easier without him.

He's the Blue Mage, but it's stupidly tied to Overdrive instead of just being a normal ability.

Unfortunately the lack of really unique effects on the list just buries it. You could justify it if there were really rare and difficult to cause effects among them like in certain past games. In FFV for example Transfusion is part of a loop to grant full MP to any teammate if you want and has spells that manipulate enemies' levels - and then inflict unavoidable conditions on them using those levels. FFVII's enemy skills are in general pure overpowered cancer and Big Guard includes Haste for some ungodly fricking reason, the skill would have easily fit as a Limit/Overdrive in that time.

Kimahri's enemy skill list just isn't good enough, the concept could still have worked.

Yay, he can do some of the things Rikku can do with a couple items only not as well.

He's the best character in ten by virtue of shutting the frick up. FFX has some of the most cringe in any jrpgs and the worst character development in ff history. Kimahri has a simple straightforward arc that while not that meaningful. It is understandable and somewhat relatable. Combat wise all these characters do the same thing, everyone learns from the same book in this game.

Hesitation and social fumbling made everyone's dialogue more "real" but also take up about 10x the amount of time it needed. They hadn't balanced dramatic timing yet at this stage, and it's almost a charm of the game, honestly. If it weren't getting in the way of all the good combat and character improvement choice gameplay I'd call it positive.

Reminder that not only does this game exist, it got THREE sequel materials that built on it.
    >A roguelike dungeon crawler.
ALL about the three of them screaming at each other about completely inconsequential things while climbing a tower they have no purpose to visit because Paine wanted them to adventure together and the whole conclusion is that they hate each other and were only friends because they had to work together.
    >FFX-2.5
Teenage drama! Time traveling! Tidus' head blown up by a fake blitzball! "Did you know that in the old days we summoned things BY FRICKING?!"
    >FFX-Will
Original Characters Donutsteel! Three fricking years later Tidus and Yuna STILL continue the teenage drama and try to jealousy bait each other despite it doesn't even remotely fit their characters!
Paine is here for some reason still!
Also Sin is back because why the frick wouldn't it? Nothing you did mattered! Time to start again!
