Just finished TOTK and feel kinda mixed on it. Definitely wasn't worth $70 and not even sure if it'd be worth $60. (thanks emulation) Really does just feel like a botw expansion and for every step in the right direction they took it felt like there was either a caveat or 2 steps backwards. Idk what do you guys think
Its pure garbage. Just do another play through of OOT again. Its 25th anniversary is on Tuesday, so you should celebrate by playing something good
That's actually not a bad idea. I'll admit I'm not a big zeldagay so I still need to play some of the old ones. My friend's been trying to get me to for a while now.
>I hate games that feel similar
>YOU SHOULD JUST REPLAY A GAME
TOTK hate is moronic.
>for every step in the right direction they took it felt like there was either a caveat or 2 steps backwards
which steps?
Dungeons had better buildup and atmosphere but the puzzles were dogshit and all the same. Bosses were much better at least. Story felt a bit better but it forced you to watch the same 4 cutscenes multiple times and for some reason nothing and/or nobody in the world changes depending on what you find. Most of it feels half assed really
Zeldagays explain yourselves
I was going to complain about TotK no matter what Nintendo did because I dont actually know what I want.
I only know what I don't want, which is whatever I get.
Caves were a good addition that only highlight how badly they were missing from BOTW but I wish they were more interconnected and had something like a full mini dungeons in them. The Depths could’ve been cool if they weren’t a literal copy of the overworld but inverted
Caves were cool but definitely not worth re-exploring all of hyrule over. after you figure out 90% of the caves all have the same monsters/ objects its gets real old real fast.
At first I was really excited for the depths. I didn't even know they were in the game lol, but quickly became disappointed when i realized that it was essentially just bandit camps, a few quests and infinite boring terrain to traverse.
The Nintendo default baby-difficulty mandate brings this game down
it's a blank slate choose your own adventure open world game where everyone's experience of it is unique because there are so many mechanics to use and not everyone fully learns them all. this is why anyone who says it's "glorified DLC" is a pleb who can only look at things superficially. oh so it plays the same as BOTW? of course it does because it's a sequel you moron. but just because you don't engage with all the new features doesn't mean they're not there.
discussion surrounding this game really outs all the npcs who do not consume media with analytical or critical minds. they just do their own thing and act like their experience is the only possible one. just jump into the open world, fight some enemies, and then they've formed their final opinion.
What if I didn't like that the majority of the game is the same thing I was doing in BOTW?(shrines, towers, outfits, all in the same terrain I explored already as well)
What if I didn't find the mechanics to be different enough to justify paying $70 plus tip?
Ironic that you think everyone else has a one-track mindset while you're the one saying you're 100% correct in everything you say.
No reason to engage in those new features to their full extent when you can still get through everything with the minimum amount of effort
The only horse I have in this race is that I think TotK is a much better game than BotW yet it's every bit as forgettable and not as special as people say it is, except this time everyone's actually saying "Oh I forgot everything about it, despite having fun with it".
Ditto, but I also forgot most of BotW because... there's not really anything to do in it.
These are empty-ass sandbox games akin to whatever Ubisoft makes but it's Nintendo and it's Zelda. It's about time all you buttholes realize it, after boosting and praising and GOTYing BotW to the point where Nintendo now says they will never go back.
So well done you fricks. We collectively ruined Zelda by praising the predecessor to this vastly superior game that is still not actually that amazing compared to older Zeldas. Well done.
Not being able to hold onto anything and not enough attention with dungeons make it hard to replay. Exploring is fun for the first hour until you remember there's nothing of substance to look for in these games because it's all just easily disposable ammunition.
I dropped it after the Wind Temple.
The only other Zelda game I've ever dropped was Skyward Sword.
It's so mediocre that I retroactively like BOTW a little more, and I didn't like that game either, although I did at least finish it.
Fujibayashi needs to be removed.
I've heard a lot of people drop it pretty fast. After beating it I kind of understand why. If not for me being sick for a week, I probably would've never played it or beaten it. There's just too much busywork that you already did in the 1st game.
>Fujibayashi needs to be removed
This
His 2D games were great, I don’t know what the frick happened
>I don’t know what the frick happened
He took it upon himself to write "the origin story" of Zelda and decided that, while he was at it, he would also hijack the entire fricking series so it would ackshully be about his OCs and their eternal war cycle (and Link is there too I guess).
Once again, Jap narcissism/autism/whatever the frickism rears its head in the worst ways.
I don't like these sandbox 500 sidequest make-your-own fun games. I just want a thoughtfully designed adventure, not lego mineycrafta.
I pirated the leak and really enjoyed it. I would have paid full price for it if it wasn't nintendo
Master Mode when?
It feels like an MMORPG where you are the only player
game is great, botw is better and an undethronable masterpiece but it was still good to come back and get more new shit to mess with
How many mini games are there in this game?
I learned there was one on eventide island MONTHS after completing the game lmao.
Genshin Impact won
Surely Nintendo will do something to celebrate OOT on Tuesday.
They will post a tweet and nothing more
good
I genuinely hope not.
TOTK is proof that Aonuma has not stopped being a mentally stagnant moron in any way shape or form, and that Fujibayashi is lined up to follow in his sterilized legacy.
The modern Zelda team touching Ocarina of Time would be an unmitigated disaster.
You simply aren't allowed to discuss nu-Zelda, positively or negatively, without shitposters flocking to derail them to derail the thread.
It's mental illness, if the fact that some of them have been going at it for over half a decade hasn't clued you in.
I would settle for Nintendo online avatars since I've been waiting for OoT characters to be an option again, I missed it the last time.
I know almost all totk threads are just shitposting and bait, but why is it no one ever makes non-bait totk threads?
What constitutes a non-bait Zelda thread.
Story/lore discussion? Good luck with that for TotK
>What constitutes a non-bait Zelda thread.
the op image won't have the image hash of RbRGxczk9bT4ouLrbjSNw

I hate this board.
I hate this game.
I hate these Black folk.
Everquest and FF11 come to mind, sweaty
How the frick do those games play like Totk
Played totk recently, and then went straight to a replay of botw.
Botw is still the beter game but quality of life updates of totk could really help botw.
agreed. totk felt cluttered with menu management and crafting mechanics that just are not my thing. cooking in botw was okay because it was a nifty shortcut to skip the shrines and cheese enemies if you were so inclined, but the fusion system is genuinely not fun to me. plus making the durability an even bigger issue by having to fuse weapons just to make them last as long as they did in botw? come on that's just horseshit.
it also failed to capitalize on the potential for tons more environmental puzzles, like groves of trees forming arrows to a shrine or the bird shaped cave in botw. there should be dozens of those but there aren't.
Please understand, anon, repeating the exact same fricking mistakes Skyward Sword made with the sky islands was VERY important to Nintendo.
And that massive single biome nothingburger underground? You don't understand, they NEEDED to focus on making a boring flipped version of the overworld instead of polishing, y'know, the overworld. An actual Dark World? Oh no, why would you want that when you could have a massive cave with frick all to do in it?
Erictroony, stop trying.
The frick is this eric shit?
new polgay bot
Polgay bot, why do you always spam 😉
Erictroony, nothing will save you 😉
