Just by interacting with the world for some time, you can get a sense that some of these voices are just as clueless and insecure as you are. If you train some of them too much, they will get manipulative and overconfident, giving you wrong advice and making the playthrough harder.

yes, low volition can soft lock you if you didn't bring meds. an emotional detective is probably the best one for starters.
I'd put some points in Endurance at the start. I accidentally time-gated myself because of it and it caused a cascading shit effect.
Shivers and Inland Empire for first play through kino.
