The DLC comes from Ubisoft servers so you can only play the core game in steam:
        >Unfortunately, all the DLCs for Assassin's Creed games with discontinued online services will be unavailable once the online services are shut down.

        >They will not be able to be purchased and even if you own them, they will not be accessible.

Well - that's new. That means when attempting to install through Steam even the base game will no longer be able to be played? Guess that has something to do with whatever loopy screwed-up DRM-solution Ubisoft wrapped these abominations in.

They also shut down the online services which makes games like Anno unplayable since 80% of it depends on it. But apparently BlueByte is trying to do something about it.

Always online DRM. Ubisoft's custom super-intrusive solution that shits the bed and doorslams you out of the game if your network drops for even a fraction of a microsecond. Even in the middle of a save taking place - meaning you're stuck with a corrupt one.

Steam makes controllers work without having to download some six axis bullshit. You don’t need a launcher in a launcher. Steam serves a purpose this shit does not and only gets in the way. What purpose does uplay origin or the rockstar launcher serve? There games worked fine on steam before that or even fricking better just release it on gog but no they have to have their drm that doesn’t even stop piracy it just pisses people who bought the game off and they retroactively add it into shit like GTA 4. There is no comparison not to mention most exe of steam games will run without steam unless the dev chose to make it tied to steam steam doesn’t force it. Now if we’re back in 2003 before you were born I would agree with your statement on steam but we’re not that was 20 years ago at this point and steam isn’t a useless piece of shit that you had to get just to play half life

Better hope that someone gets the French or better EU consumer protection into gear to give Ubishit a new butthole. It'll take time but shit like that certainly won't fly if challeneged.

How is this shit allowed? Steam has always allowed people to download games that aren't sold in the store anymore if they bought a key.
If they do this then what's stopping them from arbitrarily removing people's games in the future?
Is there a thread in the Steam forums to talk about this?

It's not on Valve, it's on Ubisoft.

But Valve had to allow this on their store.
I'm sick of it, they already allow publishers to sell games with third party DRM like Denuvo and it's also ok to require more than one launcher. I'm sick of Valve having no standards.

          >go to walmart
          >buy a jar of mayo
          >wait 3 months
          >used up the mayo by now
          >go to walmart
          >that jar of mayo isn't there anymore
          >they stopped distributing it to walmart
          >WALMART ALLOWS THIS????????

It's not about delisting the games. It's about being unable to play them even if you own them. They're all tied to Ubisofts servers so without them you won't be able to download and play them, even if you bought them on Steam.

They make it amply clear when games have denuvo or an extra launcher, if you buy the game despite that it's on you. Demanding corporations take away options from you to keep you from making bad decisions is just infantilization, be a grown up and accept that you got shafted due to a bad decision.

Who says I was? I'm too paranoid about this stuff to buy any Ubisoft game.
Furthermore, the game was never advertised as "it will stop working in September of 2022", you are being disingenuous.

Didn't Sonic Mania very specifically not list it had Denuvo on it for some time before people pointed out it was there and they had to add it to the store page? I feel like there's others, too. One of the only two curators I bother following on Steam exists literally just to point out if a game has Denuvo or not, and there are more than a few cases where the game uses Denuvo but it isn't listed anywhere on the store page.

    >ubisoft put their games on steam
    >then took them off to push the cancer known as uplay
    >then realized no one really liked uplay and started putting older titles back on steam
    >flip flop again to taking them off steam

If you are playing and even worst, paying for a Ubisoft game in the current year, you are already at a loss.
