    >Buying Epic

Unironically a high possibility. Or at least a spanking. Tim is a terrible public figure. He regularly gets into spats with those who disagree with or question him and almost constantly contradicts what he says with his business models. He somehow makes Epic look even worse.

Wouldn't Tim selling Epic effectively be him quitting? He owns the 50.01% that Tencent and whoever else doesn't. If he's selling he's doing it to get the frick out before it explodes like ol' Bobby K. did.

UE5 is new tech which graphics drivers and devs still aren't too familiar with, but the stuff made in it looks absolutely fantastic. A year or two more and things should stable out way more than currently. It's even used for CGI in movies. It's not as bad as people make it out to be.

Everyone already complains about vidual stagnation but the UE5 is the only one pushing forward. The future is bleak already but the light would turn off entirely if Google got their hands on this.

A new videogame dark age would happen and only studios using in house software would survive.

      >let's all just switch to unity

moron, vidya graphics have fricking stagnated, artstyles have regressed in favor of realism, and all UE5 does is making your game unoptimized as frick. Even a 4090 wouldn't give you native 4k in so many newly released games unless you use some shitty AI upscaling. Frick this shit engine and the games it spawned.

They aren't pushing anything forward besides hardware requirements. UE isn't providing anything of value to anyone besides publishers looking for a universal engine so that they can outsource to the cheapest bidder instead of growing their own talent. UE dying would be better for everyone.

It was the same with UE4, it took until I think 4.8 for it to be considered stable by devs so UE5 will be better later. Right now it can be ass to use depending on what your trying to make.

Who said they'd kill the engine?
Do you think someone would buy Epic and then trash it's single biggest money maker? Are you moronic you dumb shit?
      >HUURRR HEY ANONS THE BILLION DOLLAR COMPANIES ARE GONNA POOL TOGETHER THEIR RESOURCES AND BUY EPIC AND THEN KILL THE ENGINE THAT PRINTS FREE MONEY YOU DON'T WANT THEM TO TOTALLY KILL THE ENGINE THAT'S WHAT SMART CORPOS DO THEY SPEND MONEY JUST TO PISS IT ALL AWAY FOR NO REASON BUT SPITE HAHA
That is you. That is what you sound like.
Jesus fricking CHRIST I can't get over how stupid you are. I'm genuinely mad and offended that somebody as dumb as you gets to breath the same oxygen as the rest of us.
If anything they'd just stop wasting fricking money on bullshit Epic Game Store exclusivity deals, and Epic can't try to frick over their app storefront if they OWN Epic.
I think I might hate you.

      c**t.

        That's Fortnite

How much of the Fortnite profits go Epic, though?
The whole point of the court case is that Epic wanted more money off Fortnite because they didn't want to pay the cuts they were paying.
And they aren't getting 1,000 fricking third party character skins a year for free. All the relevant parties need to get their cuts, and given Epic's penchant for throwing huge wads of money at exclusivity deals willy nilly, I wouldn't be surprised if they shell out the big bucks every time they want to add the next meme skin from popular flavor of the month anime or video game.

Name five games released in the last five years that:
      1) you rated "good" or above
      2) have played for more than 100 hours
      3) were made with the unreal engine

Maybe, there are a number of hypothesis on why he's so obsessed with these lawsuits.

There is also the one where Epic is doing this to take a fall for Microsoft so they can have the precedent that closed-platforms are legal. Then if anyone else gets pissy about Microsoft locking Windows to their app store, Microsoft can point to these decisions, and have Epic backing them up that Microsoft is so much nicer than the other stores because they will give devs special treatment.

    Would be a good thing.
Google is so incompetent they inevitably kill off Unreal Engine and therefore force studios to make their own ones again.

Tencent however already owns nearly 50% of Epic in order to get a hold on your data there. They already got what they wanted. Owning all of Epic would probably be too hot for them - nobody in the US wants to see the CCP taking over the defacto number one AAA engine supplier. Congress would shit the bed.
