Ultra wide high refresh rate display technology is the next gen feature of PC gaming and movies. How can the industry make it better or have we peaked?

doesnt matter, devs still refuse to support it. especially nip devs

Do you really play games on a screen this small? I can't even imagine it. All that wasted space if you'd just bought something sensible like a 16:9 monitor.

here's your 16:9 bro. now go stretch it to 3840x2400. shit you can even do 16k res and you still wouldnt see shit past that building LMAO

You do know you can alter FOV in games, right? It's not hard.

Whatever imagined advantage supposed by odd aspect ratios like 21:9 or 16:10 can be done better and for a lower price by a larger higher resolution 16:9 display.

There is no advantage for instance for a 36" 3360x1440 when a 40" 3840x2160 display is available.

true. a 4:3 can even do whatever 16:9 can. literally no advantage

have you played LOL or data? any platformers? any isometric shit? have you played every other indie games with pixel shit?
if youre only an online gay playing BR or fallguys, UW shit wouldnt do you any good.
i can even see it being usefull in MMO, in GvG

If I play a game where somehow a smaller usable area is an advantage with a larger higher resolution screen I can just use a 1:1 mode that letter boxes.
You can't do anything to get a usable amount of vertical space with a 21:9 1440p display.

movies don't need high refresh and that aspect ratio has been used in movies for decades

movies are shot in 24fps which divides evenly for 144hz capture. this gives it a real life like appearance.

Akshually for movies projectors are the future. Either LCD or laser projectors. People sit so far away from their 1080p/4k TVs that it actually defeats the purpose of high detail. A projector with it's massive image actually outputs the highest possible quality and doesn't rely on massive heavy displays. They just need to work on the heat, power, and noise of entry level machines. Plus the thing is that most content 8s not designed for ultra wide like most movies so you just end up with black bars on the sides.

      >TVs
      >people sitting far away
homie, thats because 1080 still have big ppi when they stretch the screen to 20-50 inch diagonal. you move far away to not notice the pixelation. even 4k is not enough.

Just add black bars to your 16:9 monitor lmao.

Ultrawide is the biggest waste of time. 4k is the actual next gen, because it's ultrawide without the top cut off.
