>hey come play this co-op game where every quest for the entire """story""" everyone has to enter seperately and find the cutscene before 3 people have to leave and rejoin
I'm a longtime MHgay and this was a moronic decision
Call me an autist but if I want to play a new weapon I will start a new game with a new character. I don't want to simulate progression, I want to actually progress.
>and lots of scripted "walk slowly to here and wait for the scene to happen" moments too.
can only think of one and it's barely a fiew minutes
there's medication now for adhd i believe
what was even the point of combining hub and village quests into one if they were just going to make playing the story in multiplayer so fricking tedious to get working?
>40 dollar dlc >It mostly takes place in base game areas >New armor is absolutely trash >Most skills are useless >30 minute fights in master rank for shit rewards >30 minute fights with shit tier weapons and input reading monsters
How did this series survive being so shit for so long?
>for instance maxing defense boost give you less bonus defense than putting on a single armor piece from a higher tier
that makes sense.

It doesn't make sense, especially when you know how useless the small defense boost it gives you is. If you have full defense boost at high rank you're getting like 75 armor. What does that actually mean? Pretty much nothing, at 400 armor you're going to be taking no measurable amount less damage at 500 armor, literally like 3% less damage for dedicating your entire build to defense
I geniunely believe the reason behind the unskippable cutscenes is the incompetence of jap devs. Those morons still kept tying physics and gameplay elements to framerate, they have zero clue about what they're doing. The most bizarre thing to me is that they had cutscenes that support multiple people in them even before Iceborne, and they still couldn't make multiplayer work normally
There are more of them and they're longer, but the main difference is that you can't join a quest that has cutscenes until the quest host watches that cutscene in full
>I geniunely believe the reason behind the unskippable cutscenes is the incompetence of jap devs
i'll go for engine limitation, since it was all on MT framework and got fixed with Rise being the first one on REengine
Maybe, but there's a mod that lets you skip cutscenes, and it works in multiplayer (for stuff like the Fatalis cutscene each time you do the Fade to Black event quest). Regardless, it's their engine, could've made some tweaks. At least Wilds shouldn't have any of that crap
maybe a bit of both
anyway, going full RE engine at capcom is certainly a good move as every capcom devteam can share insight into issues and share data and knowledge
My headcanon is that World was supposed to have Village and Hub quests, like previous games. But since World was designed to be appealing for people who never played the series, they thought that maybe having to "play the same game twice" would scare or bore the masses.
So they combined the two and added scaling. If you remember, at the beginning World only had two scaling options: single-player and multiplayer. Maybe they tried to make cutscenes skippable, but this caused all sorts of syncing issues in multiplayer (and that's why the host has to watch the cutscene alone, and only after that people can join).
don't forget they where short on time also after wasting a year on making zora work and wasting unknow zmount of time on making lagia work and ending cutting it from game

The cutscenes would be way less egregious if they weren't so fricking moronic. >OH NO HUNTASAN!!! >DUMB FATBITCHUGGOFACE tbh HAS GOT HERSELF ATTACKED BY ANOTHER MONSTERARU!!! >GRANDMA-CHAN WENT INTO TRY AND SAVE HER SHE IS USELESSARU TOO!!!! >IT IS UP TO YOU HUNTASAN!!! PLEASE GO AND RESCUE THESE TWO DUMB b***hARUS!!! >Repeat 24 fricking times.
the quest descriptions are either genuinely fun or depict interesting scenarios, why didn't they use some of them as a template for their cutscenes? It's always the same shit in World. I'd gladly capture a Rathalos for a spoiled princess like that one quest in MH1
I don't understand how we've established in 7th gen consoles AT THE LATEST, that NOBODY likes unskippable cutscenes, and yet we still get games from big companies that do them.
There is literally no excuse, no justification for it. It's fricking baffling.
Just started this game today coincidentally. The amount of clutter and bloat in the hud and mechanics is impressive, almost overwhelming. I don't get what's the point of tracking/investigating when you get magic butterflies constantly anyway, but it's impressive how such a clearly mass appeal game can at the same time be so poorly designed that it throws so many ubexplained signs on a minimap you can barely use it. Don't know if I should upgrade to Iceborne or wait for Wilds either way, I heard the DLC makes it even more shit with the grapple thingy
Does it matter? Why would you replay a MH game?

Didn't really manage to have that issue since connection issues killed any interest for MP for me
>longtime MHgay
3u babies need not apply
The progression is the best part of monster hunter, why would ever not replay them?
You can re-experience all of that by wearing tier-appropriate gear. You don't have to start an entire new playthrough.

>just download illegal 3rd party software to your pc and risk getting banned bro
your arrogance is your problem
no one else
>illegal
probably a rise tendie
According to Capcom's moronic backwards thinking it is, also in Japan pretty much it is
>zoomer physically unable to sit still for 30 seconds
it's not realy a problem for normal people
there are 3 hours and 20 minutes worth of cutscenes. and lots of scripted "walk slowly to here and wait for the scene to happen" moments too.

because it wasn't shit? world and rise are very different to the better older games.
80% of the skills weren't completely useless in past games?
i struggle to understand why you think 80% of skills are useless. maybe you're using skills that aren't applicable to your weapon dude.
So that's a "yes the skills have always been useless"
for instance maxing defense boost give you less bonus defense than putting on a single armor piece from a higher tier

the game is actually moronic
>installs mod to skip them
Consolebabies are so very dumb
They should add Tsukino to World
The frick is st*rdychan?
No, Japanese man. No I did not like.
What makes the unskippable cutscenes in World worse than the unskippable cutscenes in the previous MH games?
not much but you're right they where always there
now to be fair there's more of it, longer ones too

tendies can lick my rod clean this is my franchise now
pretty girls don't satisfy me anymore i'm a monster fricker now
The cutscenes would be way less egregious if they weren't so fricking moronic.

adhd zoomer unable to not mash buttons for a fiew seconds to watch a cutscene is a fairly recent thing
(you)

You talking about the monster battles? I agree, frick those and I wish you could skip them cuz they're so boring.
