Dear Bloodlines fans,
It’s been quite a while between updates while we’ve had our heads down working on the game. We remain just as dedicated to delivering a great *Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines* game as we were when we announced, and are looking forward to showing you more in September this year.
We acknowledge it was a long time ago that many of you pre-ordered *Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2*. As development continues, we will be updating the game’s editions and bonus content, and we want to provide the best value to those of you who supported us via digital pre-order after all this time. We are thus offering refunds to anyone who has pre-ordered any edition of *Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2*. As part of this process, we are proactively refunding **all** pre-orders of physical products, including the Collector’s Edition. The digital versions of the First Blood Edition, Unsanctioned Edition and Blood Moon Edition remain, but can be refunded if you choose.
We’re excited to show you more and hope to have all of you with us in September when we reveal more. We know you are eager to see how the game is coming along so we’ve put together a fresh batch of screenshots to share with you.

Doesn't look great, and I will cry as I force myself to play through it.

Never forget
Is this the Duke Nukem Forever of video games?
It's more like the Dark Souls of project management.
Making a sequel to this makes no sense at all. Its such a niche cult game, is anyone from troika even on this?
Geek is still chic.
Obscure comic book series and characters have their own hundred million TV shows and movies. Baldur's Gate has a big AAA+ budget game being released soon. Dwarf Fortress Steam client outsold the base game in a few months.
An already established IP is better for marketing. They could have made a different game in the same setting, of course, but using "Bloodlines" and some of the Bloodlines team for the sequel worked well for them in terms of publicity, sadly, the dev team was completely incompetent.
I'm not excited about this at all anyways, I think V5 sucks. I don't like the new lore, Paradox is fricking gay and I don't believe the Bloodlines plot itself to have been that good either. So what do we get out of it? Recycled characters like Damsel and probably some bullshit like:
>"oh, it was actually caine in the first game confirmed so now we have lilith in this one, lol!"
Or some absurd shit like that.
Bloodlines is only good because Troika was given free reign to do whatever they want because white wolf was resetting the universe with gehenna. the universe that they replaced it with is gay as hell and will only limit vtmb2
People said the same thing about Fallout 3. If you can harness the rep of a cult classic to give the nu-product a sense of authenticity, it's very beneficial to your initial marketing push. People shit-talking and old fans excited will proselytize for you.
Fallout 3 is a pretty bad example considering its a trainwreck of a game only saved by the Oblivion hype train still running at full blast when it came out
>Oblivion hype train
Oblivion is higher regarded today than it was a year after it's release.
Yeah the new generation of kids found it and love it. I remember the pure heartbreak countless people had with it after being spoiled with morrowind. but modern games are so fricking terrible that people are going back and finding gold in oblivion.
It's so ridiculous.
Diablo 2 was in the shelves until the remake showed up. Like for 25y or smth.
Oblivion was loved by the modding community when it was released. It's a great base for a fantasy adventure where you completely ignore the main quest and install a bunch of quest/content mods. And the vanilla game was so moronic, it turned into a goldmine for meme videos from the old youtube era.
remember the story of the guy who got drunk and played oblivion?
False, game journalists used to uncontrollably tonguebathe Oblivion. Now it's just got ironic meme nostalgia
This.
The only negative review you could find of Oblivion at the time was on rpgcodex.
https://rpgcodex.net/content.php?id=129
Bethesda was also so upset by this that they blacklisted the site (even extending that blacklist to Obsidian when they worked on New Vegas) and name-filtered rpgcodex to iloveoblivion on their forums.
That's actually what made me post on there for a few years. It was the only place that was voicing what I felt when playing it. Bethshit popularity is really an eye-opener to how moronic the general gaming audience really is, they have no ability to judge anything.
For the life of me I can never understand how someone can be into Elder Scrolls universe. It’s so generic and boring. It’s like they copy and pasted a bunch of fantasy concepts without diving deep into any of them.
moron
TES games suck but this is dead fricking wrong, in fact the most criminal thing about TES is how it has this amazing potential with the setting that constantly gets shat on by it's own devs.
Even Kirkbride wanted to sabotage his own writing, that's why he made the Red Year canon and was going to do the same to other provinces. He said as much in reddit Q&A.
link to Kirkbride quote
>r/teslore/comments/il1mj5/a_theory_i_have_about_the_eternal_champion_and/
Yeah, it wasn't a Q&A, just chimed in on some tes lore question. And he didn't exactly try to destroy the setting maliciously but he still had ideas on how to radically change it, plus all his C0DA headcanon that's apparently about destroying Nirn or something.
>And Morrowind goes boom because I am a vain child who doesn’t like to share his toys.
probably the correct decision to be honest
frick off contrarian homosexual, Fallou 3 is a great game and much better than the mediocre trash that is Shitlivion (which was only successful because of the big expectations and hype surrounding it after the surprising Morrowind mega success)
Fallout 3 and Oblivion are very similar games. How can you love one and hate the other?
Shitlivion combat is diarrhea tier of bad and the dungeons are all bland and boring
Fallout 3 at least had some variety and interesting locations (even tho there was too much fricking sewers) and the combat was much more responsive and fun than Shitlibion and most importantly it does not take you several long minutes to kill a mob in enemies like in Shitlivion
oh yeah Fallout 3 does not the cancer that is the level scaling of Shitlibion,
also ''leveling up and picking your own perks and skills'' >>>> whatever the frick is going on with Shitlivion
Both Fallout 3 and Oblivion were shit.
Especially compare to the original Fallout games.
f3 has superior leveling system that makes it a better and more enjoyable game
>Fallou 3 is a great game
Compared to what, Highlander on the Atari Jaguar?
are you living under a rock?
VTMB is the Reddit Hill 2 of RPG's
it's game that attracts tons of posers (only few of them actually played it and the rest watched a playthrough and simply watched a retrospective review) but for some reason a bunch of pseudo homosexuals like (you) still pretend it's still ''niche'' after all the spotlight and jerking off it gets from everyone on the internet
>only few of them actually played it
It's not long, not hard, and is voice acted. Why wouldn't people play it?
Especially since the haunted hotel meme mission is early on.
Because its totally fricking broken. I just recently tried to play it and got to Hollywood only to have a gamebreaking bug that killed my save
Did you use the unofficial patch?
>not using unofficial patch
>using 1 save
like literally who the frick uses 1 save on RPGs
is this your first game?
>Why wouldn't people play it?
because the combat filters them, also once that blond crack prostitute (i forgot her irrelevant name) disappears from the main story (not even side quests) after you leave the first city all of those coomer gays who were baited to play VTMB after seeing her on the cover drop the game
>i forgot her irrelevant name
Jeanette Voerman. You're welcome.
The combat is bad though. Everything in VTMB is objectively bad, except for the writing
sound design, writing, body language/expression of npcs, and atmosphere are all decent to great main draw is the uniqueness of the experience. don't think i've ever seen anyone defend the combat.
The combat is fine. The abilities are fun to use. If you don't want to deal with it, you can just use overpowered shit like celerity. If late game fights are annoying you, you can just use big guns to destroy bosses.
It isn't amazing, but it isn't like you are supposed to, or have to, make a new character, give them a revolver, and try to not hate the game. Just don't do that.
>fine
aka not good
I think it leans into good. I have fun during the combat sections in Bloodlines and action RPGs usually bore me.
takes all kinds, i guess. it isn't well made though.
the only way to enjoy VTMB without bad combat is to do a gun build and play it like a first person shooter/stealth hybrid, so much fun this way and you'll rarely have to switch to the terrible janky camera (which the game always automatically switches to when you use any melee attack)
That is bad advice for a new player though because while guns are incredibly powerful starting about halfway through, low level guns are absolute garbage.
>low level guns are absolute garbage.
and that's where the stealth comes into play, just sneak behind your enemies and cheese them from a distance
or just play tremere
tremere is also the canon IIRC
tremere that sides with Straus
no you play as god of everything
For brawl and melee you only need to spend one point
then you get 1 point from nines, 3/4 from books and melee also 5 with books
Firearms is 1/2 from book, 3 from Romero, 4 you buy and 5 is book
This game was designed to make you OP if you know what to do
If you want ultimate cheese add celerity but nearly every clan has at least 1 good discipline
you missed the point, only guns are not shitty and unfun to use in VTMB because they are compatible with the first person camera, while the others forces you to play in the janky third person camera
it's like in TES games where melee combat can be done in both first and third person camera but 99% of people plays in in the former because with the latter it just sucks
but in VTMB for some fricking moronic reason Torika made it only possible to do melee in third person mode, the frick were they thinking? it's a bizarre decision considering that Deus Ex and Thief were their main inspiration for VTMB gameplay design
Because first person melee combat sucks no matter what. Of course their execution third person melee combat also sucks.
>Because first person melee combat sucks no matter what
hello, dark messiah
Dark Messiah still has its problem with hitboxes. They made it fun with various environmental tricks and kicks.
>dark messiah
case in point. it's a series of gimmicks, not melee.
fricking awful. sprint around getting smacked on and turning your back to an enemy. 1st person melee is garbage.
clearly your brain has been rotted by modern console action games.
>movement bad i should never have to do any more than rolling backwards
>health management bad there should be no health economy if you get hit you should die instantly
>groups of enemies bad there should never be more than two or three at a time how am i supposed to play if i have to turn away for a millisecond or remember where things are
>bunch of bullshit
if you have to spin around like a horse with blinders on, with no situational awareness, it's awful. fov is too narrow in fp melee and it leads to awkward bullshit like that webm. it's bad, maybe you like bad things, that's cool.
your lack of situational awareness isn't my problem. if you can't keep track of like five guys in a small room you have measurable brain damage.
lol, the person who made the webm couldn't. turned his back and got smacked when he didn't have to, probably disoriented from all the dumb camera shaking fp animations do. fp melee is awful, end of story.
This game actually sucks to play though. There is not enough gameplay, and it keeps shoving the most embarrassing story I have ever seen in your face
Arkane has never made anything good
Dishonored was good. Most Bloodline type game.
Prey 2017 was awesome, frick you!
>Dark Messiah
>Dishonored
>Kingdom Come
point disproven
DM's already been addressed, Dishonored was about choking people out or hitting them with ranged weapons or abilities. Actual one on one melee fighting was the "you fricked up" option. Kingdom Come was okay for what it was but takes some getting used to and certainly not something that should be used for a vampire game.
This pipe swinging simulator did a decent job at melee, I think.
well thief is not a combat game and deus ex's combat sucks ass so they tried to do something different
never had an issue with the 3rd person camera
sounds like you are moronic to me
also who the frick plays vtmb on 1st person
half the game is just miring at your toon, cause they all look super great
god I think I'm gonna reinstall
gonna play a ventrue
>books
Wesp shuffled around a lot of that. So depending on which UP version (as in 6, 7 etc.) someone is using it might differ. Obviously just having the latest official is going to give different results too.
>do this
>game responds by autoselecting melee at the start of each boss fight
>by the time I switch to my good firearm I am already down by 1/3 a healthbar aggravated damage
This game is incurably bad. Face it. It's like those stupid fantasy rpgs who are like 'go ahead be a wizard' and then teleport your MC into close melee range at the start of the every big fight through the frickery of dialogue cutscenes.
How? Just use hotkeys.
That's what's so great about this game
Everything is bad about it and it's still the best game of all time
Soul is soul
>The combat is bad though.
>>fine
>aka not good
How did you give your goalpost Celerity?
almost like it's two different people.
Stealth kills are fun, every weapon has a unique animation
Guns are fine, besides the early game ones
Some abilities are fun to use
Melee combat is meh, but I've seen worse
You get Heather, Velvet, VV, that Jap girl, the fish vamp, your player character.
Coomers have something to coom over all game.
I dont know why you grouped me with people who like VTMB
Basically all immersive sim devs are dead. Arkane lost almost all of their staff that worked on Dishonoed and Prey.
Deus Ex will never return.
Vampire is just getting milked with cheap visual novels, so proper game will be released.
Arkane allegedly lost 70%+ of their staff due to people quitting because of COVID-19 shit, home office, then forced returns, and having to work on that vampire game they just dropped, that nobody liked.
They are a dead studio now.
wow what the frick man
This industry sucks
>]68 / 9 / 25 / 1

Are you virus attacking me bro
deus ex was literally sold to another studio that announced they were making another game what are you talking about
one of the original writers for the game was on this appearntly but they were fired along with everyone else for NDA reasons
All key Troika devs are at Obsidian and inXile right now. Tim Cain is semi-retired, Boyarsky is working on Outer Worlds 2, Jason Aderson and Chad Moore are working on Clockwork Revolution.
>they all moved on to various black troony games
What the frick bros
I thought wasteland 2 was halfway okay but refunded wasteland 3 without finishing character creation, it was that bad. Looked at a trailer for clockwork revolution last night after an anon jokingly called it an arcanum sequel, and what the frick. Why is this shit all so bad now
>inb4 ESG scores
What was bad, exactly?
I can’t quite articulate it. You know how a paladin can innately sense the presence of evil? I could sense the cultural Bolshevism rising from it. The character models and portraits, I think.
>verification not required
I see. Consider taking your meds.
>I could sense the cultural Bolshevism rising from it
I am not aware of any trannies in either Outer Worlds 2 or Clockwork Revolution.
You either adopt current liberal values or you become a chud, and no one living in a west coast city wants to be a chud.
But the models were a lot better than Wasteland 2's.
>moved on to various black troony games
>moved on
Fallout 2 had gay marrige, gay prostitution, gay sex with mutants etc.
Did you even play any of Tim Cains games or do you just blindly love them without playing them because you hate Todd Howard.
Virtue signaling by saying how much you like Fallout and vice signaling by saying how much you hate gays is a newbie staple combo on this website.
You got loss from Twitter bro? because no way you're being this disingenuous.
Oh shit, that a Chinese temple? Are Kuejin coming back??
>V5
>kuei-jin
Yes I know, but that did not prevent the original bloodlines 2 devs from implementing Dementation for the Malkavians instead of Domination like it is in V5.
that's because it's not really a dementation loss like in "the great prank", V5 is just shitty and dementation abilities are an amalgalm of Dominate+Obfuscate
Looks like shit
None of the magical atmosphere of original VTMB
They should kill themselves instead of defiling the original masterpiece
>We know you are eager to see how the game is coming along
not really.
> spiritual successor to Arcanum comes out (Encased)
> publisher forbids the devs from patching their own game and effectively kills it along with the studio, same shit as VTMB
> successor to VTMB is in development
> several devs get annihilated, studio submits a copy of the game to the publisher in 100 randomized archive files with no ID, the best possible scenario is the game being made by fricking Dear Esther devs
whoever wants to continue ToEE is probably just straight up getting assassinated, there's like some ancient Siberian curse on Troika or some shit
>spiritual successor to Arcanum
>(Encased)
Yes.
I'd say it was also a success since you can practically feel the budget evaporate after the first act, very faithful.
>> spiritual successor to Arcanum comes out (Encased)
inXile is currently either making a straight-up sequel, or a game with the same setting. It's being written by the same guy who wrote Arcanum (Chad Moore).
>It's being written by the same guy who wrote Arcanum (Chad Moore).
Given modern moods, class warfare and union strikes would be fitting. But homie orcs and israeli gnomes, less so.
>5 sugars
>only scoops 4
that's what this much sugar does to your brain
Don't expect too much from project cobalt
I made a poooy
>We know you are eager to see how the game is coming along
Lol why do they think anyone cares
>refunding pre-orders because failed to deliver
this is the first time I have ever seen this
Every storefront they've used is sure to have to accept refunds on pre-orders anyway
It's called we are removing your right to sue us.
I'm not a Discord moderator, is this normal?
Yes, since lonely people use the platform.
I forgot about this game but I guess better late than never
>grey fog global illumination garbage
WHY
the game is meant to be dark, why are devs so scared of making games DARK
Most of these shots would look fantastic if they were only lit by the actual light sources in the scenes. And why are the colors so washed out? Frick, this is basic shit any middling artist could spot, let alone professionals.
HOW THE FRICK ARE THEY GETTING MOGGED BY THE ORIGINAL DONE 20 YEARS AGO?! FRICK
>MOGGED BY THE ORIGINAL DONE 20 YEARS AGO
well it's lituhreally le best videogame in existence? oh and also homosexual devs
it's a mediocre at best game in every sense of the word carried entirely by excellent voice acting, writing and the setting. The 'game' itself is complete shit. It looked good for the time, and somewhat holds up in that regard.
you're right, GI makes no sense for games that are meant to be dark
>"why isnt my vampire game sunny?"
?
I'll give this one a 95% chance of being absolute garbage, 4% chance of being decent and a 1% chance of it actually being good
so far everything indicates it'll be shit but I'll be here in September, give them a chance to change my mind
>I'll be here in September
Are you sure?
Yes.
They announced that they will make an announcement in September. The game won't release then.
didn't say the game was going to be released in September, I said I'd give them a chance to change my mind in September.
joinn the very epic saya no uta server!!!!!!!! .gg/nB3AP4y
Yay! I can't wait to defend transgender rights alongside Rudi, the nonbinary Muslim Gangrel!
the fact this game even "exists" (having no alternative word to describe it) just leaves my mind for ages until something reminds me of it
its fascinating how horrifically the world of darkness and related stuff has gone
can't wait for the game to be roughly a 6 out of 10 if it isn't incredibly buggy on release
It has to come into existence, because Paradox already sold it. If you sell something that doesn't exist, you go to jail.
DON'T BE GONE, PLEASE
They wrote that collector's edition stuff is refunded, because the depicted characters aren't in the game anymore.
Why are we still here? Just to suffer
this shit is why i dont get why anyones excited for this game. everything that was shown seems to be shelved and scrapped, a letter about refunding all preorders and the people who made the first game good having been dropped. and what do they have to show now? five generic set pieces?
its not much of an improvement beyond everyone assuming the game had been shelved. the only hope i have is that maybe the mandatory start as a thinblood will be shelved. doubt it
If we assume that there is a genuine effort to deliver a good game, and not just to ship a product to avoid getting sued, would you rather:
>Studio 1 develops Game
>its nearly finished
>publishers play test it, and its very dull
>they release it anyway
>they get Studio 2 to make a sequel to the probably flopping game
or
>Studio 1 develops Game
>its nearly finished
>publishers play test it, and its very dull
>this version gets cancelled
>Studio 2 gets hired to reboot the development, hoping to release a good game
The problem is that scenario 2 is implausible because to release an actually good game they would need a lot of time and at least as much money as the first allegedly dull attempt has already consumed. Instead it will be some kind of Frankenstein's monster.
Most likely scenario is a massive reduction in scope.
Somehow this should look better, but since it loses the cartoonish style VtM: Bloodlines had in its presentation, it looks a lot worse.
even assuming in this scenario that studio 1 game is a heap of shit and that this complete remake is primarily to make a better game, it's still gonna be shit. maybe we'll get a le hidden gem or something at least entertaining, but years into development having scrapped everything before is time and money all down the drain
also, whos rudiposter? i know the rudi loresheet
he was a ritual doomposter who always appeared early on VTMB2 threads to announce it's failure while also derailing conversation into politics due to the controversial nature of Rudi as a character
I mean, did any of us really have hope for VTMB2 ever?
Yeah.
lol, ive got a bridge to sell you
I think you are being biased due to hindsight. Early on there was a real hype train and the fact that people like Mitsoda and Schaffer were involved only spurred people further. Of course no one believes in the project now because it has been through several studios, but early on there was nothing about it that could seem like a red flag other than that one woman being involved in the writing or V5 sucking ass.
i never believed in it from the first reveal, vtmb needs a lot more than two names, one of them just being the music guy
not him, but i was skeptical from the first. games aren't made by individuals and mitsoda can't carry any project. beyond that, world of darkness games are inherently cursed, if you've followed them over the years.
I was skeptical as soon as I heard that you start as a (clanless) thinblood and have to diablerize your way into a clan.
I hate how V5 made it so Thinbloods don't have a clan. Bloodlines had Rosa, a thinblooded Malkavian.
eh, not really, thinblood precognition was supposed to be antedeluvian shenanigans, something something their blood being too weak to fight their influence or something like that, nothing to do with the madness network
Im not that firm in the lore but wouldnt a diablerist thinblood be the prime example of someone who gets a death sentence bounty on their head instantly without questions asked in pretty much any even remotely civil place on earth that has a vampire society of any kind?
100%, but V5 made the Camarilla cool with diablerie. Even still, diablerizing into a clan isn't the same as being a part of that clan, totally takes me out of it.
Tentative and only very early on.
I HATE YOU!!!!!!
I'm actually looking forward to it finally releasing, so I can finally play it.
somebody call a doctor, this anon is overdosing on Hopium
Chinese Room deconfirmed lmao, it's over.
No, they've always been open about how they're working on two games, one original, one licensed. This was their original game. For some reason they left screens up on their behind-the-scenes videos, and this game in the background clearly does not take place on an oil rig.
It's not The Chinese Room t. Knower
Post a dev so I can research and confirm/deny then.
Thought it was announced.
Is CR any good?
I don't care anymore
i tried to play vtmb as a tremere but got bored
Chinese Room say their next release is Still Wakes the Deep, in early 2024. So Bloodlines 2 isn't coming out until after that, for sure.
Also this game looks better, frick.
Swid is a space horror?
Oil rig horror.
Awesome!!
Do normalgays really like this visual effect overload? VtMB looks so great because it's so sharp. This is completely diluted, pseudorealism purple teal crap.
>Paradox
Did the IP change hands? I thought the previous guys were filling it up with wokeshit and didn't the PI CEO get cancelled by woketards at one point? Never saw PI as that type of company based on their other titles.
I don't care enough to look up this fricked up history again.
Paradox owns White Wolf.
WW itself got fricked due to woketardism though. Did they inherit many of their idiots or just the license?
Yeah summoning rudiposter to explain please. All we need to do is compare names at WW to whoever is still at PI I guess. If they just got the titles and not the repellent people attached to them it has a shot.
there's no such thing as a modern day company that isn't full of "woketards", anon. white wolf and paradox aren't any different. the shit they got slapped down for was pissing off other woke people on twitter with virtue signalling that went too far into real life politics.
>as it stands right now
where does it stand right now exactly?
other than a couple screenshots what do you actually know of the state of the game after these last couple years of secret development?
I know a small studio, which is also making another game, is developing it.
why the FRICK does this look like Bloodlust Shadowhunter
Vampires see the night differently. It's much more beautiful.
The death of Vampire games and fiction is a ploy by Vampires to get the general public to think about them less.
World of Darkness is actually cursed and every video game connected to it suffers. Turns out making a setting based on the mark of Cain doesn't turn out well.
No, it's the Technocrac
There's vampire games, they are just medieval fantasy instead of realist modernity.
What they showed of the demo looked surprisingly faithful to the original. Was still bracing for poz and knew it'd never be as good as bloodlines, with all its' hotties
