Making a sequel to this makes no sense at all. Its such a niche cult game, is anyone from troika even on this?

      Geek is still chic.
Obscure comic book series and characters have their own hundred million TV shows and movies. Baldur's Gate has a big AAA+ budget game being released soon. Dwarf Fortress Steam client outsold the base game in a few months.

An already established IP is better for marketing. They could have made a different game in the same setting, of course, but using "Bloodlines" and some of the Bloodlines team for the sequel worked well for them in terms of publicity, sadly, the dev team was completely incompetent.

I'm not excited about this at all anyways, I think V5 sucks. I don't like the new lore, Paradox is fricking gay and I don't believe the Bloodlines plot itself to have been that good either. So what do we get out of it? Recycled characters like Damsel and probably some bullshit like:
      >"oh, it was actually caine in the first game confirmed so now we have lilith in this one, lol!"
Or some absurd shit like that.

Bloodlines is only good because Troika was given free reign to do whatever they want because white wolf was resetting the universe with gehenna. the universe that they replaced it with is gay as hell and will only limit vtmb2

People said the same thing about Fallout 3. If you can harness the rep of a cult classic to give the nu-product a sense of authenticity, it's very beneficial to your initial marketing push. People shit-talking and old fans excited will proselytize for you.

Oblivion was loved by the modding community when it was released. It's a great base for a fantasy adventure where you completely ignore the main quest and install a bunch of quest/content mods. And the vanilla game was so moronic, it turned into a goldmine for meme videos from the old youtube era.

Bethesda was also so upset by this that they blacklisted the site (even extending that blacklist to Obsidian when they worked on New Vegas) and name-filtered rpgcodex to iloveoblivion on their forums.

TES games suck but this is dead fricking wrong, in fact the most criminal thing about TES is how it has this amazing potential with the setting that constantly gets shat on by it's own devs.
Even Kirkbride wanted to sabotage his own writing, that's why he made the Red Year canon and was going to do the same to other provinces. He said as much in reddit Q&A.

Shitlivion combat is diarrhea tier of bad and the dungeons are all bland and boring
Fallout 3 at least had some variety and interesting locations (even tho there was too much fricking sewers) and the combat was much more responsive and fun than Shitlibion and most importantly it does not take you several long minutes to kill a mob in enemies like in Shitlivion
oh yeah Fallout 3 does not the cancer that is the level scaling of Shitlibion,

The combat is fine. The abilities are fun to use. If you don't want to deal with it, you can just use overpowered shit like celerity. If late game fights are annoying you, you can just use big guns to destroy bosses.
It isn't amazing, but it isn't like you are supposed to, or have to, make a new character, give them a revolver, and try to not hate the game. Just don't do that.

the only way to enjoy VTMB without bad combat is to do a gun build and play it like a first person shooter/stealth hybrid, so much fun this way and you'll rarely have to switch to the terrible janky camera (which the game always automatically switches to when you use any melee attack)

                Anonymous

That is bad advice for a new player though because while guns are incredibly powerful starting about halfway through, low level guns are absolute garbage.

no you play as god of everything
For brawl and melee you only need to spend one point
then you get 1 point from nines, 3/4 from books and melee also 5 with books
Firearms is 1/2 from book, 3 from Romero, 4 you buy and 5 is book
This game was designed to make you OP if you know what to do
If you want ultimate cheese add celerity but nearly every clan has at least 1 good discipline

you missed the point, only guns are not shitty and unfun to use in VTMB because they are compatible with the first person camera, while the others forces you to play in the janky third person camera
it's like in TES games where melee combat can be done in both first and third person camera but 99% of people plays in in the former because with the latter it just sucks
but in VTMB for some fricking moronic reason Torika made it only possible to do melee in third person mode, the frick were they thinking? it's a bizarre decision considering that Deus Ex and Thief were their main inspiration for VTMB gameplay design

DM's already been addressed, Dishonored was about choking people out or hitting them with ranged weapons or abilities. Actual one on one melee fighting was the "you fricked up" option. Kingdom Come was okay for what it was but takes some getting used to and certainly not something that should be used for a vampire game.

Basically all immersive sim devs are dead. Arkane lost almost all of their staff that worked on Dishonoed and Prey.
      Deus Ex will never return.
Vampire is just getting milked with cheap visual novels, so proper game will be released.

Arkane allegedly lost 70%+ of their staff due to people quitting because of COVID-19 shit, home office, then forced returns, and having to work on that vampire game they just dropped, that nobody liked.
They are a dead studio now.

deus ex was literally sold to another studio that announced they were making another game what are you talking about

Making a sequel to this makes no sense at all. Its such a niche cult game, is anyone from troika even on this?

If we assume that there is a genuine effort to deliver a good game, and not just to ship a product to avoid getting sued, would you rather:

          >publishers play test it, and its very dull
          >they release it anyway

          >its nearly finished
          >publishers play test it, and its very dull

The problem is that scenario 2 is implausible because to release an actually good game they would need a lot of time and at least as much money as the first allegedly dull attempt has already consumed. Instead it will be some kind of Frankenstein's monster.

even assuming in this scenario that studio 1 game is a heap of shit and that this complete remake is primarily to make a better game, it's still gonna be shit. maybe we'll get a le hidden gem or something at least entertaining, but years into development having scrapped everything before is time and money all down the drain

I think you are being biased due to hindsight. Early on there was a real hype train and the fact that people like Mitsoda and Schaffer were involved only spurred people further. Of course no one believes in the project now because it has been through several studios, but early on there was nothing about it that could seem like a red flag other than that one woman being involved in the writing or V5 sucking ass.

I was skeptical as soon as I heard that you start as a (clanless) thinblood and have to diablerize your way into a clan.

I hate how V5 made it so Thinbloods don't have a clan. Bloodlines had Rosa, a thinblooded Malkavian.

eh, not really, thinblood precognition was supposed to be antedeluvian shenanigans, something something their blood being too weak to fight their influence or something like that, nothing to do with the madness network

100%, but V5 made the Camarilla cool with diablerie. Even still, diablerizing into a clan isn't the same as being a part of that clan, totally takes me out of it.
