I wouldn't know, I don't play new games very often
There's about 30+ years of game I still need to catch up and play
Being able to selectively cherry pick games I think I might enjoy from the past is a far better way of enjoying video games than paying 80 bucks for half finished triple AAA slop
Play indie.
I've had more fun with indie games than with AAA titles. Even the open world indie games are more fun.
Of course for every fun indie game there's a fail and a shovelware cashgrab but that's true of AAA as well.
play something other than homogenized western AAA slop
There are still fun games, it's just AAA games are all the same game and have been for like 2 decades now. Also, you're probably growing up. My interest in playing games has dropped immensely, but I still do enjoy playing them when I make time for them.
>Eat nothing but fries for every meal >"Bros... the culinary arts just isn't the same anymore" >inb4 "food analogy"
I'm having a lot of fun playing Warzone 3 with Snoop Dog and Rick skins.

After that while drinking some coffee I play some auto battles games and emulate 5th and 6th gen consoles.

idk about you but theres way more fun to be had on the CoD4-Blops1 era of Cawadoopys than Warzone slop. it was always slop sure, but this slop is even worse and thats undeniable
>But actual good shooters peaked before then
i didnt say they didnt. i said even the slop back then was better.
im pining for increased quality no matter the style of game it is. whether its AAA or indie studio, incomplete games + microtransaction hell is legit garbage. i mean ffs look at sports games, they had like a dozen good ones for each sport now its one for each sport and its a copy and paste of the code with less features every year.
>i said even the slop back then was better.
It wasn't. Modern slop can be pretty fantastic, assuming you're playing the right slop.
If anything, 7th gen was the bad era for slop.
Nu-Doom > any CoD.
>Nu-Doom > any CoD.
idk why you keep bringing this up like i disagree? there are still some solid games coming out but it is a lot more rare than before. like im not saying theres NO new games worth playing the overall quality of games across the board is worse and theres less options
>It wasn't
yes it was lol old cod is better than new cod. the slop was quite literally better
Did you play the new Hitman games? They're really solid stealth games, and WoA has a crazy amount of content for a good price.
i've played most of 1 and 2, been meaning to buy the collection
back in the olden days before DLC and preorder bonus skins, a game felt more "self-contained" if that makes any sense. like everything that's intended to be in there is already in there and you just need to play to get it.
Imagine buying a book and the book store is like "oh sorry you needed to buy the book on day 1 to get the prologue"
exactly. even the DLC they put out back then would be more of an add-on than a part of the game that was missing

On the whole, AAA slop is way better, I say that unironically.

Hitman WoA > Hitman Absolution
Death Stranding > MGS4

You mean you can go back with the benefit of hindsight to pick out the best and most noteworthy games across a series of years, ignore all the garbage they released alongside, and then doompost about how much worse vidya has gotten by comparing it to the garbage of today. Nobody's going back playing FEAR 2, Dirge of Cerberus, Dragon Age 2, Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Resident Evil 5/6, Fallout: BoS, Ninja Blade, Splinter Cell Double Agent/Conviction, Rogue Warrior, Dead Island, Daikatana, Deus Ex Invisible War, Heavenly Sword, Soulstorm, Hitman Absolution, Two Worlds, Velvet Assassin, Dark Sector, the twenty different sports games or movie tie-ins released every year, or all the other games that weren't bad or hated enough for anybody to even remember and pining for the good old days. micro-transactions, incomplete games, and devs over compensating with patches ruining games. example of the last point is rainbow 6 siege, they catered so hard to the esports community that every content update either ruins an already fun map, makes an older operator essentially obsolete, or they over nerf or over buff an existing op without real justification. it isnt the only game like that either.
essentially, games used to run off the model that the most fun games make the most money now games are being made to squeeze every last dollar out of the consumer through empty promises and microtransactions

There's hundreds of games out there to try and you've probably only played a small percentage of them. It's not that games aren't fun anymore, it's you who made gaming boring for yourself.
>There's hundreds of games out there to try and you've probably only played a small percentage of them. It's not that games aren't fun anymore, it's you who made gaming boring for yourself.
yeah that's exactly what the zoomer audience wants. to not play new games, and instead spend $60 on a 30 year old game that may very well be broke, from the grifters at DKOldies
I think these videos gain traction because it's simply easier to be a critic than a lover. If you like something you have to fight for your stake in it, you can lose subscriber. If you're just hyper critical about everything, you're also immune to the dangers of people poking fun of your tastes.

yeah dude its the gamers fault that every game is either in early release purgatory or AAA movieslop. most people enjoy video games still, especially when they play older titles. for example i can play MGS2 and still have a blast but the majority of games that come out now are unfun trash. its the games, not the gamers

The actual truth, the one which has a scientific basis and has studies confirming this, is that your motivation is fluctuating and out of your control and you're probably just in a period with less motivation than usual. This is why you can sometimes be addicted to vidya and play for 12 hours straight and other times you can't even open up a game. The sad part is that there's quite literally nothing you can do about it, it's just how your brain works.
You loved it because Ganker and youtubers told you to love it. You're a literal npc, no wonder you can't enjoy things without people telling you to love it.
This is a good point actually. So many of these gamers have zero hobbies outside of gaming and really should take a few weeks / months to get some new hobbies and try some new stuff.
Because they aren't made for (You). Zoomers are having the time of their life sweating in valorant, ERPing on roblox and gooning to FNAF while watching subway surfers on top of skibidi toilet on their phone.
Gamers are the biggest cucks. They're always looking to play the latest and greatest and will ignore a game simply because it's a few years old. Imagine if you met someone that loves watching movies, tv shows or listening to music but they tell you that they only watch/listen to the newest shit. You'd think they were moronic.
People do that though. It's just casuals in any medium. It's just that even normalgays usually know you're either tasteless or don't have much interest in the medium if you only watch big budget slop or listen to the latest hits.
>play nothing but shit like COD or Halo or Minecraft >"nooo there's nothing to play society has fallen"

I don't understand how npc Gankertards could legitimately feel this way. In my eyes we live in the golden age of gaming. More games are accessible then ever before. More games in more genres are being released more often than I know what to do about. Emulation is the best its ever been and is possible on windows, android, linux, and even mac. Barring last gen, I can emulate and play games released from the 1970s all the way through the 2010s on arcade, console, and handheld systems. I can play a decent amount of my library on linux now that the Steam Deck has caused money to be spent on compatibility. Piracy is also the best it's ever been in ease of access and depth of content. This doesn't solve new releases being slop, but this is the correct solution to enjoying games.
If you only choose to play slop you'll only see slop. Move out of your comfort zone of sub par western AAA and you'll see there's a massive industry full of god tier games
I'm 36 and still having a blast playing new releases and classics. Maybe you're just a depressed jaded homosexual with too little going on in life to give you perspective
The truth is that it's BECAUSE you have a full time job, you're able to appreciate gaming more. If you were a depressed neet who spent his whole life at home staring at a screen, naturally your dopamine receptors would get shot and you'd not enjoy anything. Diversity and moderation are the keys to happiness.
The vidya industry just ain't as hopeful anymore. Tech advancements are basically nothing much anymore, nobody gets excited over "the coolest graphics anymore", the last time that happened was unveiling GPUs that support real-time ray-tracing. All the big, heavily marketed games are now bland and boring to satisfy as many people as possible because they think the average gamer is a total casual that would get intimidated by anything deeper than a skill tree. Many of the companies that provided a wide variety of vidya to play got fricked in some form by the publishers in charge of the big, heavily marketed games so now there's far less AA games that managed to have some of the creativity of no-budget indies and some of the budget of no-creativity AAAs. A lot of people that kept up with videogames ended up getting a backlash from the lack of innovation and cool new things coming out. Personally I can recall many franchises and games that I have enjoyed a lot but then the games ended up with very little hope of having new games. There are at least 3-4 indies I have been looking forward to since 2021-2022 and they're still not out of early access. It's reasonable to believe that vidya isn't that fun anymore, especially if you've played a lot of games, but at least there's still plenty of good vidya still worth playing.
GaaS, Lootboxes, micro-transactions, forced online only (only to be shut down in a year, ugly character designs (especially for the female characters), bland open worlds that feel empty, constant glitches, forced multiplayer, daily challenges, cringe dialogue, boring gameplay, etc
Gaming is still great. In every generation of games there has been a ton of shit to wade through to find the good games. If you were using it to fill a hole in your life, it can only do that for so long, and you probably never cared for gaming in the first place.
You grew up
This argument doesn't work cause I played God Hand for the first time a year ago and loved every second
You loved it because Ganker and youtubers told you to love it. You're a literal npc, no wonder you can't enjoy things without people telling you to love it.

If you were using it to fill a hole in your life, it can only do that for so long, and you probably never cared for gaming in the first place.
video games are fun, just stay away from the latest AAA or fotm slop
