Ganker, my bros and dudes and sisters and chicks, when did you, after getting to THAT point in the game, you just had to drop it due to how out of touch it was getting? For me, it was the sunflower fields. I can't possibly name a more terribly written, melodramatic and unfitting part of a game in any other. It's really that bad. I dropped this game to play Mother 1 instead. At least that game is more tonally consistent than Mediocre 3.

I like it a good bit. The music is the best of the 3 and I like the cast. Ganker is just being tsudere because it can’t give straight unironic praise anymore unless it’s new fotm. It’s a good rpg and worth a playthrough.

I've got news for you. If you go in playing Mother 3 expecting it to be just like Earthbound, think again. It's inconceivably worse off in every way possible. The humor (arguably the strongest point of the Mother series) has taken a backseat to the unbearably boring melodrama that plagues the plot and characters. It's like a poorly written fanfiction. Just go and play Mother 1 if you haven't already and forget Mother 3 even exists.

I recently beat M3 and was wondering about the ending.
It's a cycle, right? The "end of the world" that was in Leders backstory dump is what happens at the end after the final needle is pulled and starting a "New Game" is what erases the memories of all the inhabitants, causing them to essentially repeat the same events.
There are a bunch of meta allusions in the game and that's what I gathered from it.
