>What a truly terrible system
yeah 2e sucks, dont even get me started on THAC0.
Just make a non human and go multiclass so you can level both classes at once
Do you mean 5e AC? Thats so simple a child could understand it, Bigger number = better armor. For whever reason 2e was negative AC means better, because that somehow makes any sense
Yes, and because you're knowledgeable in RPG mechanics you don't feel "excloooooded". If you're an outsider, your choices are to either learn it, or frick off and play another genre. Gate keeping is good.
>For whever reason 2e was negative AC means better, because that somehow makes any sense
It makes perfect sense if you're not a moronic zoomer.

Guys it's very simple.

So the negative numbers are there to counter the positive numbers of the enemies' attack roll?

I'm actually shitposting.
The simple version is everyone has a To Hit AC 0 stat. You add the enemy AC to your hitroll. If it's less than your THAC0 you miss. That's why lower numbers is better, because the formula is literally simpler.

THAC0 is based because it filtered all the whiny gays that you nobody wanted around.
>LariaBlack folk are so stupid they can't handle simple subtraction.
2e was GOAT and no other edition comes close, in part because it filtered sub-115 IQ 'people' like yourself.
Play a multiclass fighter/mage, it's much better than your precious kensai/mage precisely because it's fun from the beginning of BG1 to the end of TOB.
Just kick the other party members and have the the wizard (even better if it's you) learn a bunch of scrolls, that alone should put you at like level 6-7 so you can be useful. Then you probably just need to finish a couple of quests and you'll have your shit back.
You have to keep in mind though, even though this is annoying it gives you a much stronger character. It's a lot better than the system on later games where theoretically it's easier to multiclass, but in practice you just end up weaker because of low caster levels and shit.
Very. I've beaten it multiple times with different friends. You can even use mods, though you'll both have to have the EXACT same mod set-up, which can get annoying.
THAC0 is a lot better than the clusterfrick that is AC once you understand it.
It's effectively all the same shit, rolling against a number. Modern AC just takes a step out. How is THAC0 mechanically better? Gatekeep shit that actually matters like racial traits and bonuses.
lower armor class being better will always be counterintuitive. The extra arithmetical step will always cause friction in determining if you hit or not.
You should already have the character set up for it in BG1
>spend entire game as fighter just to dual to mage before final fight and be useless
no way im doing that
No, no, you DIP. Get like two levels of fighter than go mage for the rest of the game.
Just play a non-human.
i never dual or multi class. too complicated and seems like it doesnt help. specializing in one class just seems a lot better to me

d&d has its origins in wargaming, where first class units had better armor than 2nd and 3rd class units. that's why lower armor was better in 2e.

>puts armor +3 on
>your total AC drops
yea it totally makes sense

>AC in 5e is a clusterfrick
I'm sorry is AC too complex for you?
also 2e > 5e > 3e
Close:
2e > 3.5e > 5e = 3.0e > 4e
Dunno 'bout AD&D and OD&D. Never played them.

It's simplistic bare bones garbage.
>it filtered sub-115 IQ 'people'
doubt that, i'm fricking moronic and it didn't filter me. you're just full of yourself
That's why you go mage 1/fighter 39.
Play a multiclass fighter/mage, it's much better than your precious kensai/mage precisely because it's fun from the beginning of BG1 to the end of TOB.
Stupid no patience zoomer
Arcanum is better
You can catch up in like 20 minutes because of how the experience curve works
You can also start the game as multiclass
maybe if you are 5 star general playing bg2 for years and know exp spots, for me it was dreadful

How playable is the campaign in coop for BG1? Friend of mine wants to try it out together and I was thinking about replaying it someday anyway.
Very. I've beaten it multiple times with different friends. You can even use mods, though you'll both have to have the EXACT same mod set-up, which can get annoying.
Its alot of fun coop, but even the enhanced edition wnats you to do the stupid port forwarding shit like pc games of old
Incest sex with Imoen
>Doesn't know how to complete his dual-class before leaving the Promenade.
NGMI
Any games use 4e?
Don’t you start as level 7?
only if you import your save from the first game IIRC
just use a savegame editor
>people are still being filtered by thac0 in 2023
it's literally addition and subtraction you tards
It's effectively all the same shit, rolling against a number. Modern AC just takes a step out. How is THAC0 mechanically better? Gatekeep shit that actually matters like racial traits and bonuses.

yeah but it's moronic math
it's a solution to a problem it created.
it's true of all CRPGs
they're all shit
