Yes, but don´t get the steam version since its just a fork of the original release by some random dude unaffiliated with the guys behind the original continuation

this
yes, IMO worth for the campaign alone. Only have played mp a couple times and not worth it. But 100% worth playing the campaign. I have it installed right now on my pc. Also listen to that other anon.
>Any tips on how to git gud?
download the real up to date version from the site

>Any tips on how to git gud?
This is what I do on the campaign:
>a group of 8 main tanks, usually with machineguns, because they'll get experience and get better over time
>when you recycle a tank, the next tank you build will inherit the experience level of that recycled tank; when a new better turret is researched, recycle these 8 tanks and build new tanks with the new turret; they will keep the experience
>keep these tanks as your main frontline battle group
>make them heavy but not the heaviest, because you want them resilient but relatively mobile
>keep engineer tanks light and cheap, and just make a bunch of them, and even send them around the map
When you research repair turret and sensor turret:
>a group of at least 2 or more medium repair tanks at all times; if you make them too light they will get one shoted, but if they are too heavy they will strugle repairing your tanks
Later, when you research sensor turret and mortars:
>1 sensor tank with same body philosophy as the other tanks; heavy but mobile; it will keep geting experience
>8 or so very light mortar tanks linked to your sensor tank; you want them cheap and fast, and it doesn't matter if you lose them, just make more, but don't lose your sensor tank
>sensor towers give you vision around an area, and also can be linked to mortar and artillery tanks
How to use mortar and artillery tanks:
>select your mortar/artillery tanks
>right click on a sensor tower or a sensor tank to link them to it
>select your sensor tank and right click terrain to move it, and the mortar/artillery tanks linked to it will follow it; or right click an enemy and the mortar/artillery tanks linked to it will attack that enemy
>if you want to move or unlink the mortar/artillery tanks, you have to hold left control to select them
>this is how you want to assault bases and even kill enemy groups of tanks
1/2
Other tips:
>I don't really use the command turret tank because it makes it hard to micro your 8 frontline tanks, making it easy to lose them
>my 8 frontline tanks are usually 6 heavy machinegun type turrets and 2 lancers type turrets
>on transport missions I usually send 1 engineer to build sensor towers around
>mortars and artillery static defense is pretty useful too, even for offense
Idk what else. I don't play mp. I only played a couple times but I didn't quite like it. But I love the campaign (the 3 campaigns). Just have fun.
2/2
The strength of a command tank is that all of the units under its command gain the veterancy bonus of the commander, so your max ranked commander will make all your low rank tanks suddenly as powerful as a highly ranked one
Addendum I generally stop using repair tanks once I unlock the constructible repair bays, they're far more efficient in repairing and you can construct them all over the place with some engineers.
i usually added 2-3 repair tanks to the squad of 8-10 tanks with one commander and they were doing field repairs, they usually die first but that is not problem as they don't get any exp
I only played the steam version and the last mission was absolute bullshit and I had to massively cheese it with suicide bomber gunships, to take out the enemy artillery positions
Its those bullshit plasma cannons NEXUS has
The final map is pretty small and those cannons end up with like 90% of the map covered due to their high range
>direct control mode
I found an old forum post saying that, in debug mode, you can press space to enter tracking mode and Shift+D to enter driving mode
>added the extra weapons unique to the demo that was bundled with the Gex2 game disc
Please tell me more
yea and you can't counter battery them, becausey you need
>radar
>you need to setup the guns before they can get destroyed
>you have to fend off enemies from 3 angles at all times
so suicide bombers it was
I remember turtling pretty hard in the corner where the LZ was with arty and whatnot and using cheap VTOL swarms with bunker busters to spot sensor towers and CB the arty thats in range of your own arty
Thankfully the mission has no time limit so its just a matter of patience to weather the grinder
>Please tell me more
Some mods already re-implemment them but I forget if they're compatible with the latest version of the freeware release, the ones I remember being cut was the final mission's Plasma Howitzer, Twin Heavy Cannon, and the unused Cyborg Minelayer (can't remember if the bullshit jump-jet cyborgs Nexus used to get were ever brought back in any of them)
pathfinding is shit
Did he freeware remake finally re-introduced the "direct control mode" from the PSX version and added the extra weapons unique to the demo that was bundled with the Gex2 game disc?
Can someone confirm me this is a remaster with improved graphic?
I don't remember WZ2100 having so many polygon and wear textures
No, my version from the website looks the same as far as I can tell.
Which website?
I understand this one is not the Steam version
wz2100 dot net
Thanks for the website.
Would anyone be kind enough to provide me a save from what I think is the 3rd LZ? (maybe?)
I remember leaving from a place around a lake, I was harassed by hovertank with missiles.
I'm hoping I won't be too rusty to restart from there.
post hand
Sorry I don't understand you.
I'm asking for a save because I stopped playing because I had essentially lost the computer and save.
It look like I left at the beginning of Gamma
It's a mod.
no
why?
Is it just me or are cyborgs just too brittle to bother with since massed tanks with AT-rockets weapon modules are strong enough to deal with anything, even without the HeavyCannon's extra HP?
cyborgs are useless in the campaign, they are only somewhat useful in multiplayer/skirmish
The game is fun ... BUT:
>Dogshit gui
>Dogshit pathfinding
>Apparently open source and still receives updates
How come?
I wish there was a modern "design your army" game but with a very sophisticated and physical game engine,
A game where different method of propulsion for different terrain truly make a difference.
If the UI is up to it you could even build transport vehicle.
about as close as i know is pic rel. campaign not great, maps kinda small, but i liked the new designer.
>uncrewed
It's honestly closer to what I described than what I want, so thanks.
But I hate myself for that.
I don't like "cube by cube" design, the aesthetic isn't good to me and you always end up minmaxing.
I said physics but I guess what I really want is a pseudo-physical gameplay that make wheels good on road, tracks good in soil, hovercraft good in swamp... multiple type of weapons and so on...
So basically W2100 but your tanks actually climb inside transporter or need bridge above river.
If wish were fish...
uncrewed has physics. propulsion types are important. the weapon variety is quite extensive.
i can appreciate the aesthetic complaint, but judging by the rest of your comment i am pretty sure you dont even know what the word means.
in fact i would wager your hair resembles ramen noodles.
Duh, don't get it wrong. You gave me EXACTLY what I asked.
I'm mad because I realized I don't really want that type of physics. Just WZ2100 style propulsion/bodies/weapon... on better map
If there's weapon variety in Unscrew the steam video don't do it justice cause they all looked like the same pew pew. I really like how WZ2100 make you build dedicated vehicle.
>in fact i would wager your hair resembles ramen noodles.
You should avoid gambling, I can tell you'd lose all the time.
>You gave me EXACTLY what I asked.
I'm mad because I realized I don't really want that
apologies for confusing you for a zoomer. you're just a woman.
>apologies for confusing you for a zoomer. you're just a woman.
Good thing you didn't bet on that, you really do suck at guessing.
