No, it's the only final fantasy I've dropped and restarted multiple times, it keeps me hooked at the beginning but keeps losing me near the end.
Which is ironic, considering that's when the game "opens up"and combat is at its most complex.
I think it's got strong characterization, and when everyone's character arcs are mostly resolved is when I stop caring.

    >Was it that bad?
you are not going to get an answer. trying to discuss jrpgs and a FF at that is impossible because you attract every single obsessed neck beard weebo out there that has a love hate relationship with these games. and usually their opinions are based on some irrelevant little detail that they became austistically focused on. in other words talking about jrpgs is like talking about anime. the real answer is that: it's a decent 7/10.

I played it recently and I had to disable auto, once I did I enjoyed the combat.
Too bad that the game is so linear, but is is beautiful, has a nice soundtrack and great combat. The Jap voice acting was good too. So I finished the game despite it's linearity.
Then I went on and finished the whole XIII trilogy and I thought that the other 2 games were alright.
It helped that i am waaay less salty now because FFXIV exists and it is a somewhat traditional 3D FF that has all the casses, crystals, towns and interesting stories and characters that the series was previously known for having.

Combat is good overall gameplay is bad and too linear.
I don't even hate the characters or the story, but they clearly wanted to push the fugitive on the run angle so hard that they willingly gave up on any gameplay outside of walking down corridors. Even FFX had other shit to do.
Overly hated (for a FF game which has plenty of mediocre to alright entries) but still a very flawed game.

I definitely feel less engaged timing paradigm shifts, actually using status debuffs, and having a rating system then simply having attack and magic with no time limit on turns nor any penalty for taking 99 turns to kill an enemy.

Yes and are usually the only games, if any, that a person who claims any particular FF is the 'worst' has actually played.

I got as far as the big open plain and every encounter was so easy that it was just dull. Sorry that switching systems = engaging for you, but flashy graphics and systems for the sake of having systems is boring battle system.

That's great but you're still claiming it is comparatively worse, purely in combat, than all of the 30+ Final Fantasy titles that have been released.
          >easy
Yes, just like most of the Final Fantasies
Who are these low iq morons that don't understand that, when you claim something is the worst, just calling it bad doesn't prove that every game they compared to isn't just as bad if not worse?

This thread is sad. OP is desperately trying to bait out an argument but it's not working because FF13 is so boring and shitty and everything that's already been said has been said that nobody bothers biting. There's no anger, people just legitimately don't care. FF13 is the kind of bad where it just produces bland ambivalence. Worst of all, unlike Barry OP isn't even a funny autist to watch have a meltdown.

          >He had like one sorta kino moment
You realize that's all you fricking need?
Almost every single FF character in the entire goddamn series is a bunch of nobodies. A single kino moment is what makes them.
Pretty much the only FF character with a developed plotline is Cloud. One scene per character is literally all you're going to get in FFVI. FFIX has the misery of not even managing one scene per character, with Freya and Amarant not having any scenes of interest at all. FFXII even worse, with five of the six party members all collectively managing to do basically nothing of significance throughout the entire story (it's Ashe and her entourage of posturing buttholes).

One good scene is what this series is known for. FFXIII has the deepest flaw: characters manage to be relevant, but nevertheless they are stupid, and their actions incompetent, meaning rather than one good scene, they have actively bad scenes. Lightning is probably the worst in this regard, as her entire plotline is about how she's a horrible person who failed to take care of herself or her sister and it leads into.. absolutely fricking nothing, and then they kill Orphan, and Etro deus ex machinas everyone. What a character arc.
