I guarantee there was a moment of "IN YOUR FACE" posting during his reveal. Like most costumes. But Doomfans took the announcement in stride I think.
Many of the ones I've watched, the reactors said things along the line of "Oh, poor Doom fans, they must be so mad/sad right now" if they themselves weren't feeling mad or sad about it. Pretty much the same deal with Shantae, Dante, Sans, Cuphead, etc, a lot of people assumed their fans would be upset but the overwhelming reaction has been positive.

It's always annoying how much of a secondary this guy and other similar artists are. There are some series they seem familiar with and then others where they clearly just read the wiki page for the relevant character and make up some dumb shit. They're all just worse Awkward Zombie comics which weren't that good to begin with and don't even at least have any memorable panels.

The survey where Sora was the most requested was back in 2015 when fricking Iwata was president and people thought Banjo was a never ever. Sora being the last character is gay, I played KH as a kid and thought they were mediocre but can understand why people enjoy them. The reason Sora is gay is because they marketed Smash as a "celebration of gaming" yet they make Doomguy and Dante into Mii costumes, two characters who were involved in creating entire genres as Mii fighters, but we get a billionth JRPG rep with Sora. It's fricking stupid. Might as well be a "celebration of music" and the only genres you have are dadrock, hip hop, and jazz.

I really wish that Doomguy had gotten the final slot instead of Sora, especially since his games have had a much bigger impact on the industry than Kingdom Hearts. But this is a Japanese game made by Japanese people, and FPSs just don't have the same pull over there that they do in the West. A Mii costume is a decent consolation, I guess.
Chief and Doomguy are both notably taller than Samus even when she's in the suit.
