The hatred of Naka isnt exactly unknown. Even back in the Genesis days he was seen as a prick. He threw tantrums constantly, he backstabbed people to management, he got people thrown off his teams because he wanted to take credit for their work, he lied constantly about things. He was incredibly unpopular, to the point that when he threw his most notorious tantrum during development of Sonic 2 and went back to Japan and refused to ever work with the American branch again, almost half the people he brought over with him stayed in America rather than continue to work with him.
I mean it should be pretty telling that after Sega finally had enough of him and fired him, he was reduced to making nothing but mobile games and bargain bin shovelware for a decade because his reputation was so poor even in Japan that no one wanted to deal with him.

Naka completely re-framed that story, it was never claimed that Naka wanted to cancel the game, just that he suggested stripping the team and just keeping the two most valuable people. out of all the accusations, this is one of the msot reasonable and believable

Naka is extremely hated and has been for years. Hes probably legitimately autistic, at the very least he's a massive narcissist, and liar, and he's also been a complete failure for years and years now.
The one person who still put up with him finally had enough and he's effectively blacklisted from any studio at this point, plus he keeps having these weird, and hilarious breakdowns on twitter. Add on to this he's an actual moron, who keeps making up bullshit, and pretending to be some prolific coder, when he hasn't done anything of note past working on 68000 30 years ago, and was enlisting help on how to code a simple cookie clicker game in Unity. He's a lolcow at this point.
