I thought the campaign was better but I've only played ac7. I thought the campaign to ac7 was jumbled dogshit and I couldn't even finish it but I'm sure I'm in the minority on that. I still want to play 4,5, and 0 but I haven't gotten around to them yet.
>Get into this and think that you're going to work multiple contracts and shit because you're a merc >Instead stay with the same shitty group/story thread the entire time
A game where the mission design strangely peaks in the first half and the ending is abrupt and unsatisfying. Good otherwise though, and the soundtrack is surprisingly great.
Had to uninstall because I couldn't be bothered to set up the PC controls how I like it, maybe I'm just too used to AC7's KBM controls. I'll get back to it when I get a controller I guess
a competent AC clone.
actually does a lot of things better than AC7 too. >better and smoother wienerpit view, tracking and and camera freedom(similar to zero) >radar implemented in wienerpit so you can disable it from the HUD >actually has a FOV fricking slider >machine guns and cannons feel so good and are actually good >inconsistent but better sound design(MGs and grazing railgun fire sounds so good) >the slow, lingering PW railguns you have to dodge en masse is an actually good mechanic and brings some depth and fun to the combat
worldbuilding was good but reverse pixy was not. also I still don't know what the hell the "deal" was supposed to be
The Deal is one of the Artbook stories
Will see when it releases
Why do they have stens & fg42s
Project Wingman universe is an alternative timeline in a post-post Apocalypse. The creators said that many designs were modernized from the 70s locally instead of big NATO/WARSAW standardization most countries went through during Cold War
comparing the soundtrack to ace combat in general, it doesn't have as good bombastic tracks but I really appreciate the more calm and ambient music it has, goes really well with the style and atmosphere of the game.
Some snide remarks and banter with the other pilots here and there, no major plot dialogue since it's never guaranteed she'll be on a given mission depending on whether or not you're in a two-seater but she adds something to the experience.
I always hated how Ace Combat is dumb unrealistic romantic shit. It strokes the fact of the player killing hundreds of people when in real life like Ukraine a mass murderer is just a war criminal. No you are not the based le demon lord you are hired soldier doing his job to get a paycheck.
they aren't cringe, but they should be given more serious weight, that makes them more memorable
Monarch being a "king" of the people he killed and a broken throne feels earned, sort of
Yeah, I know. Imagine if Ace Combat had a fictional rumored pilot who shot down tons of enemies while defending his home city of Kysiv. They'd probably call him some gay shit like the "Ghost of Kysiv" or something totally unrealistic like that.
It'd never happen that way in real life. If Kysiv were real and this happened even those on their side would know this rumored pilot was just a soldier and thus that they should not be glorified.
distance
don't try to turn to get behind a target when he's right on top of your radar all your going to be doing is infinite circles
make a habit of holding down Y on the gamepad too because it pretty much locks your camera on the target.
Watching Maverick gave me a fighter jet itch and I've never felt inclined to play games like Wingman or AC before in my life.
Will this scratch that itch?
In either of them you're a new recruit that rises to the top ace and nearly single-handedly turn the course of a war. Except in Air Combat where I think you're already an experienced pilot for a renown air squadron/organization & 3 where you're an AI.
Just beware that it's an arcade-style game, if you want a proper simulator (without story) then it's not for you.
If you wanna be the sky mercenary hero who murks the evil UN forces, go right ahead. At least when it comes to Wingman.
I'd definitely say they take some form of inspiration from Top Gun (given it probably started the craze to begin with) but it's obviously much more anime-style in what it wants to be in the end.
orange and schizos on nuclear planes
best vr game ive ever played
Engagements that are not advised do it pussy.
great game with a great soundtrack and a wso waifu
one of the best indie ace combat games you can ever dream of
A strictly inferior game to Ace Combat but still fun
Holy frick is the voice acting wooden in some parts though, OST is a bop though

Incomplete game.

more like they're OP compared to missiles
>spoiler
it doesn't matter, the devs said so themselves.
>The Deal.
I think it's like the gold suitcase in Pulp Fiction. We're not supposed to know.
wasn't it implied that it was land in cascadia was allowed to be ruled by sicario?
It was for Sicario to rule some Cascadian region
The Deal is one of the Artbook stories

Good times, I'd recommend to up the resolution% to 150.
>machine guns and cannons feel so good.
I have no clue why but they really do.

PS2 Ace Combat with the Scale of Ace Combat 6.
Probably the highest form of LUDOKINO of the last 5 years
Why do they have stens & fg42s
is this better than the Ace Combat PS2 games?
a game different but also alike to Ace Combat, expect some very fun dogfights and a final boss thats absolute god tier
id, in my personal opinon, say better than ace combat 5, equal to 4 but still worse than Zero
It's better than Ace Combat 5 which was absolute dogshit. But not as good as 4 and I'd say it's on the same level as Zero.
Zero is dogshit.
>Better than the best PS2 game and not as good as the worse PS2 games
>Moments women couldn't ever possibly understand
>using the PW mk2 against Crimson
nah, too easy, Su27 every single time, and not the bullshit prototype advanced version
gamepad vs kbm for this?
Both work fine really, PW plays much better than Ace7 with keyboard
I've been told to get to mod that lets you always listen to the WSO. Does she say a lot that isn't just callouts?
she has an animation where she passes out in the final mission
Whats the matter anon, too afraid to use the F-14 for the entire game? (And the SU-25 but that thing is dogshit on Mercenary)
>Whats the matter anon
the two-seater viggen isn't in the game
Some snide remarks and banter with the other pilots here and there, no major plot dialogue since it's never guaranteed she'll be on a given mission depending on whether or not you're in a two-seater but she adds something to the experience.

yeah name titles like demon lord, heroes of razgriz, angels of emmeria are all cringe
they aren't cringe, but they should be given more serious weight, that makes them more memorable

>can't handle to over the top melodramatic tone of AC
yep that's a pretty big hurdle
i enjoy both, Wingman's strange nihilism due to your mercenary status has its moments like bombing the firemen
Only Ace Combat 5 was melodrama and it's the worst Ace Combat.
i need maneuvering tips for these kind of games
i feel like i spend a lot of time rolling and turning trying to tail a target

>"If you want a proper simulator..."
It's anime bullshit more akin to Gundam and Macross. newbies will tell you it's Metal Gear and Top Gun.
I'd definitely say they take some form of inspiration from Top Gun (given it probably started the craze to begin with) but it's obviously much more anime-style in what it wants to be in the end.
<<<You can't run! You can't hide! You made this decision long ago! You can't back out of this deal!>>>
Kino, absolite KINO
the worst final boss fight ever made
I played it on hard and had to restart the whole campaign to play on normal because I was too much of a shitter to beat Crimson 1 in the end
