In terms of slightly lesser known games, for me it would be Bomberman 2 (aka: Custom Battler Bomberman), Bomberman Land Touch! 1 and 2, Cooking Mama 3: Chop and Shop (first two are okay, but really enjoy 3), Densetsu no Stafy 4 and The Legendary Starfy, Super Princess Peach, Mr. Driller Driller Spirits, and Dig Dug Digging Strike.
How do you even emulate a DS game comfortably? No way a mouse feels better than a stylus (just try playing Wario: Master of Disguise for example) and the screens are probably way too shrunken to be enjoyable (since you can normally just bring a DS closer to your face)
>How do you even emulate a DS game comfortably?
By using a hacked new 3ds xl which can play > ALL 3ds games, even xenoblade >all nds games >all gba games (use rom hacks for the ones that require solar power) >all gb games >all snes games >all nes games

It has enhanced ports on other systems but since it was made for the DS originally, there are compromises on those ports. Adventure games/VNs are top comfy on the DS family. I read Tsukihime on the DS even.
On the n3DSxl the 1:1 mode displays slightly bigger than the DSi screens. That's why I think it's a better choice than the regular n3DS for DS games. The screens are going to be higher quality than the ds lite ones certainly.

Mostly just for DS games
Stay as close to DS' screen size as possible. Like an og 3ds, mostly IPS screen because it could make a difference

Lmao the only moron here is you
The DS has a resolution of 256x192 while the 3DS is 400x240 (320x240 for DS games) which results in blurriness from non linear scaling. You've never looked at a real DS screen, have you?
>not liking my zoomer thing makes yoy a booner
moronic take, the only decent touchscreens were from gaming systems, unlike mobileshit like you want/try to believe. Touchscreens don't work aside a couple of genre, in general they're fricked by the input itself
ds looks like shit on a 3ds, frick off

see[...]
I tried the patch once, it looks like shit. Default Twilight menu res is the best middlepoint, not perfect but the closest to not frick it up unless pixel perfect DS. Mario Kart DS looks terrible widescreen, pasty and blurry, don't bother making DS games bigger
>The ds used a resistive touch screen not a capacitive one like modern phones so you wont get the same of accuracy
do you really take DS games this seriously?
There are many ways. A lot of games don't need a touchscreen or the mouse is actually fine. I've been using my ps4 controller which has a touch pad. For some games it's good to rotate your monitor but a lot of them really are fine to have the two screens side by side.
I have a dsi XL I can play these games on but it's more comfortable for me to use my computer, which has much better sound quality and a better controller.
just get a flashcart and a ds dummy. That's how I played Wario Masters of Disguise, Contact, Touch Detective and a super hidden underground game known as Chronotrigger.
If the flashcart doesnt work try sticking a piece of paper in the back of it when you insert it into the DS, that would've saved me alot of grief.

Started playing ds games on my phone and it's kino. Trauma center and Wario ware touched are great. I've also been playing a lot of Lost in Blue and some World ends with You. Haven't touched much of Rune factory 3 but it looks fun
Any DS games work ok on the Myioo Mini plus? I ordered one as they were on sale for really cheap. I know Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow had a patched rom to just auto do the touch screen shit in the boss fights. I think the other 2 Castlevania games should be fine too as I dont even recall any touch screen shit in them.
I remember someone showcasing the emulate using the game Time Hollow and even then it was very slow and barely picking up ten or more frames.
Still neat to see.
There are a couple kamen rider games that are just sprite beat em ups that i liked.
Dementium 1 & 2
Touch the Dead
all 3 castlevanias

the resident evil ds is alright
there is a new english translated ds only digimon game lost evolution that came out last year
There are probably a couple other cool ds english translations since I checked so I'm going to look real quick.
Lost Magic is really fun despite looking like shovelware.
Fossil Fighters and Fossil Fighters: Champions also.
That one Transformers 2007 tie-in game that came as an autobot and decepticon versions punched way, WAY above their weight, too.
not to emulate, I will not support such soullessness.

My samsung phone actually has a built in stylius - but where are the buttons if the whole phone screen is the game?
On the bottom it’s better on a tablet

Yeah hacked 3DS is kino. But DS games look the best on a IPS DS.
Thats not emulation though, you're still playing on original hardware

What's the problem with the 3DS DS compatibility?
image scaling
I'm playing like that. It doesn't bother me unlike DS games on og 3DS. DSi probably best but 1:1 pixel mode isn't bad with an IPS 3DS XL
What game is that
9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors
It has enhanced ports on other systems but since it was made for the DS originally, there are compromises on those ports. Adventure games/VNs are top comfy on the DS family. I read Tsukihime on the DS even.
I own a DS lite, the screen is so tiny, even back then it felt tiny, just bought a IPS New 3ds Xl and can't wait to try them on with twilight menu
On the n3DSxl the 1:1 mode displays slightly bigger than the DSi screens. That's why I think it's a better choice than the regular n3DS for DS games. The screens are going to be higher quality than the ds lite ones certainly.
If you hold L+R or something on game load up it’ll stretch it to cover the full screen, look it up (but you probably knew it)
It's deliberately trying to match the screen size of the real DS.
ds looks like shit on a 3ds, frick off

What does this prove? I've played multiple ds games on n3dsxl (pirated, twilight menu) and they all look blurry.

just buy a dsi

i dont know anon? if only there were other devices with touch screens.
Touch screen will never ever feel better than buttons
boomer take
Not an argument, buttons are just objectively better for gaming. Touch screen buttons are always unsatisfying and make your fingers cover the screen.
>not liking my zoomer thing makes yoy a booner

The ds used a resistive touch screen not a capacitive one like modern phones so you wont get the same of accuracy vs using the ds itself or a 3ds.

Well I'm bald and skinny fat with glasses and a beard so.......

Go back to r3ddit you frogposting homosexual
You don't play videogames very much if you are content with shitty, error prone gameplay you could get perfectly on the original system
Peak DS gaming.
I bet that portable homemade ps3 is smaller than this stupid looking clunky whale crap
Just get a DSi XL and hack it
Rotate your monitor to portrait.
Any game that uses the stylus isn't worth playing.
On a phone
It has better and more responsive touch sreen than the DS
There are many ways. A lot of games don't need a touchscreen or the mouse is actually fine. I've been using my ps4 controller which has a touch pad. For some games it's good to rotate your monitor but a lot of them really are fine to have the two screens side by side.

i opened the thread to also recommend touch detective, fun little adventure game
Wii U
If you have a touch screen play this.
Seconding this. It also has a complete translation.
that ds looks like it has a 45% chance to die
does that mean it has a 55% chance to not die?
How do you hack a 3DS and not brick it
3ds.hacks.guide
It looks more complicated than it is, I'm not really a computer guy but I've done it twice with absolutely no issues
>troon coloured DS lite
>model which is most likely to have it's hinge snap and break
What did they mean by this?
Time Hollow, I paid cheap for it and it was kino.
The usual Castlevania/MegaMan/Shin Megami Tensei stuff is super good too.
sideswiped
i've broken out my DS twice in the past 3 years and each time it was to replay TWEWY
damn i love that game. sequel was kind of mediocre though

Why the frick was the THREE Deeee Essss a lower resolution than the PSP which came out like 10 years before it?
Because of the 3D + general Nintendo incompetence when it comes to tech.
Alphabounce
>arkanoid dungeon crawler
>made by the dead cells guys
What the frick were they thinking with the DS screen resolution? Could they really not make it at least 360p? The PSP was 480p wasnt it?
N3ds XL or DSI XL?
do you want to play 3ds games or not, thats basically what it comes down to.
Mostly just for DS games
Any DS games work ok on the Myioo Mini plus? I ordered one as they were on sale for really cheap. I should play this since I’ve played all the Danganrompa games and AI The Somnium Files
Yeah it's pretty good, sure you'll like it if you like those.
The PSP actually could emulate DS games, if poorly.
It's pretty crazy how powerful the PSP was. I do remember getting like 5 fps on that DS emulator, shocking.
I remember someone showcasing the emulate using the game Time Hollow and even then it was very slow and barely picking up ten or more frames.
Still neat to see.
PSP was the emulation handheld and smartphone before the chinks start making them.
I used to even read comics there and fap for porn of course.
Good thread, I bought a n3dsxl recently because my old 3ds was a bit dated. Need to know which games to play first when I'm in a 3ds gaming mood.

Pikachu
Mario Hoops 3 on 3
I consider this to be the best sonic game ever devised by human hands. Do with that what you will.
Holy shit, a good thread on Ganker?
Try Chibi Robo: Clean Sweep. Genuinely one of the best games on the system. Might be hard to emulate tho.
Nanashi no Game apparently got a sequel that was translated, thats cool I didn't know that.
is megaman star force worth playing? also, what battle network game besides 3 is worth playing?
The nameless game 1 & 2. Best horror games on the DS. Both games have been translated and you can find prepatched roms online
Lost Magic is really fun despite looking like shovelware.
Fossil Fighters and Fossil Fighters: Champions also.
That one Transformers 2007 tie-in game that came as an autobot and decepticon versions punched way, WAY above their weight, too.
How about actually posting some obscure games?
DQIX is phenomenal.
i have a modded 3dsXL but i still use my ds lite + r4 card for ds games specifically
Rocket Slime Adventures
You homies should play Big Bang Mini and Super Control Mecha MG
>want to play pokemon ultra sun
>dont want to buy another 3ds
YAWN!
not really a hidden gem but meteos is really good
Solotorobo
just get a 3DS and use twilight.
Let's go deeper. What are some now english patched games that we didn't get to play back then?
