You posted it, also the 8-Bit Illusion titles and World of Illusion on Genesis.
Magical quest 1 and 3. 2 sucks.
Super good trilogy and I'd agree the best Mickey games. Only gripe is they're very short and abandon ideas too fast. I'd love to see a romhack with new levels that takes more creative liberties with the costumes.
>Mikī no Majikaru Adobenchā
>The Adobenchā is clearly very Majikaru
That one
The Magical Quest
IS THIS A MICKEYVANIA?
It's a metroidckey
It's a steamboat willyvania
It's MickeyKawaseVania
I'm more of a SEGA/Castle of Illusion kind of guy, but I must admit, this clip alone makes me want to play Magical Quest right now.
Why were the Capcom titles based on Disney IPs so good in the 90's? And we had SEGA's ones that were also superb at around the same time... jeez, we were eating so good back then, Disney bros...
The 8-bit Mickey (first two) games are so fricking good. It's a shame they get overshadowed by the popularity of Genesis Castle of Illusion and vindicating them as the superior games feels like contrarianism.
Indeed, Castle of Illusion did the traditional sort of platformer formula perfectly, I don't think its as good as the Genesis one, but I get why a few people here do... Land of Illusion though, it just went the extra mile, it's almost a MetroidVania, just a very lite one, and it excels at it. Legend of Illusion is the worst one, but I still like it, it's the simplest, but works, and it's still fun to play a bit.
I like how lives were called tries... it's an unimportant detail, but I find it charming.
Castle of Illusion, World of Illusion and the Magical Quest games.
as already said, castle and world of illusion.
magical quest games are cool as well as circus mystery but you said best so...
Just beat Castle of Illusion for first time a few days ago. It's pretty sweet. Slow but well-designed, good level design and great graphics/sound. I've heard a lot of great things about the SMS version, so might check that out next.
From the others I've tried, World of Illusion seems great - I last played it as a young kid though. I also had Mickey Mania (SNES) and Mickey Mousecapades (NES). Mickey Mania I can barely remember it (so it probably isn't great) and Mousecapades wasn't very good. Playable but pretty weak.
Besides that I've only tried a little bit of the Magical Quest games, those seem solid.
This is before Disney sucked dick, which is now.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NO NO NO TURNING RED IS GOOD
