best metrode
need more games with guns like the sonic boom
It's more of the first game but with larger rooms, so gameplay is interrupted by waiting at doors for loads less, and with tougher bosses.
good bosses, but ammo was annoying and it was basically half a game thanks to pallet swap dark/light world
Pretty much this. It is the best prime and that's even with the shitty dark world that's just boring and uninspired. If prime 4 is anywhere close to as good as echoes, I will be happy
>it was basically half a game thanks to pallet swap dark/light world
Isn't the map the same size as Prime 1 even without the dark world?
agon feels a tad bit too much like temple grounds but over all I prefer the pacing more than prime 1.
but it does have some gay as frick bosses like alpha blogg, boost guardian, and spider guardian.
I don't know how people had trouble with the spider guardian since I killed it on the first try. Boost guardian can burn in hell though, especially the hard mode version.
the last ramp is annoying, and obviously harder on gamecube without the free jump and even hypermode being easier than gc hard
I don't know about hypermode since I only played Prime 1 and 2 on GC and couldn't be motivated to try/get Corruption (or even the trilogy).
Best game ever
wiener and Ball Torture and I love it
>ammo
it's garbage
I can't prove it but I remember defeating the Boost Guardian in about two minutes
It's favorite game in the Prime series.
Was it the MP Trilogy version? They significantly nerfed boost and spider guardian for that version, right? Damn, while typing this I realized if we ever get a Switch port of these games they're most likely gonna use the nerfed versions, that makes me sad.
OG version. I think I got lucky in the ball phases.
Filters low iqs and is the Majoras Mask of Metroid.
>is the Majoras Mask of Metroid.
But MM is a smaller game than OoT and Prime 2 is a bigger game than Prime 1, so I don't see that.
MM is bigger where it matters. Atmosphere and themes.
I fricking love the shit out of this game. It was absolutely fricking kino, and I would never take anyone who rates it less than 9/10 seriously. The only valid criticism is backtracking.
Best Prime game, especially for filtering shitters and making them cry about the difficulty.
It honestly did the "Dread" theme before Metroid Dread.
Dark Samus 2 is one of my favorite boss fights in the series
one of my very few actual 10/10s, I can only hope prime 4 is anywhere near its level of quality
better than prime 1
Prime was my first real experience with Metroid (got MZM soon after). It's my de-facto answer on the best of the Prime games, but when I think on it longer, and look back on all the Metroid games I've played after, Prime 2 is probably the true answer in my heart. I'd say it is my favorite Metroid game in the entire series if Metroid 2 and its remakes didn't exist.
I hoenstly don't think I ever beat this one. Maybe I did at a later playthrough on the metroid prime trilogy, but I know for a fact I got FILTERED hard as a kid by those corruption zone areas, and that boss fight in them, the one where you have to fight it as a morph ball or the boss is a morph ball? I can't remember what it was called but I remember it being very difficult as your health is draining the entire time and he does a lot of damage and is hard to kill.
That's the Boost Guardian and in the original GC version, it was the hard filter.
A good example of iterating on a good game. Harder, darker, experimenting with new concepts. I hope to make a game somewhere near its' caliber someday...
intro takes a bit too long; pacing is weak compared to MP1
the power up progression sucks ass; almost all of the new and interesting power-ups are gotten in sanctuary fortress which is the last third of the game
seeker missiles suck ass, should've removed super missiles and tweaked seeker missiles to replace them functionally.
the key hunt at the end is egregious and wholly unnecessary, makes the game noticeably worse.
light and annihilator beam combos suck ass
other than that its a great game i like it play it many time
Sonic Boom is great, hits instantly and has amazing damage. What's the problem?
uses a ton of ammo/missiles, is acquired super late, and doesn't even 1-shot a lot of basic enemies
the effect is cool though
I played and finished Prime 1 and disliked it so much I never wanted to go and finish Prime 2.
Why did scanning feel so good in this game? In 1 it was kind of mid until the phazon mines and in 3 it was annoying because of how slow was changing the visor compared to the 2 prior games
Awesome game despite its rough first quarter or so. Once you get the Dark Suit it's all gravy. Top 4 Metroid in the series with Super, Prime 1 and Dread.
Obviously the best of the 3, the ammo system wasn't super fun and kept me from using it more than I needed to but it had good mechanics otherwise and great movement.
The ammo system was kinda moronic, because you either had too much after getting expansions for it to matter, or you had to conserve it during long fights and then do the boring farming
That's what the pods and crates are for you plank
Well yeah, that's what I meant by farming. Doesn't make it any less tedious to shoot the crates with a specific beam
Its the best game Nintendo ever made and you cumguzzlers fricking didnt buy it.
I enjoyed it more on a second playthrough, but because of beam ammo, dark world effectively halving the variety in locations, and the sky temple keys being even worse than artifacts mean it'll always be lower than Prime 1 for me
and also Zero Mission, Super, AM2R, and Dread
The soundtrack really solidified how good it was. Dark aether themes were oppressive for a nintendo game and really did the atmosphere good.
I couldn't get through it, it was a massive disappointment after the first Prime.
