I'm just baffled that there are people that think FF1's story is some sacred thing to ruin. It's the most barebones possible thing and frankly teriary to the greatness of the original game, who gives a frick what new story they make up around the events? ANYTHING would have changed the story, because they want to make a story more than about 6 text boxes.
