Why would anyone want to go from a halfway decent looking woman to a 5'3" manlet? Granted Ellen Page hit the wall like 6 years ago. Her face deflated and her hairline started moving to the stratosphere.
nothing impressive just showing how they changed Ellies face

Page complained about the likeliness because she was involved in another vidya at the time (Beyond: Two Souls). ND then adjusted the appearance just before TLOU's release.
you quite clearly are as this anon has pointed out
They used real time capture in the first game, and neither version of Ellie looks like Ashley Johnson.

Was that the reason it got so few awards?

Did anyone in this thread thought about the fact that
In TLOU1, that shot is extremely important and basically the ending shot
In TLOU2, that shot only last 1 second in a flashback at the beggining of the game
That's why it looks worse, it doesn't need to look that good, it's a flashy shot
>why is it inherently a good thing that it looks more like the actress
This is one thing I fricking HATE about vidya, when they use IRL actor faces, it takes my immersion out completely.
only time I have ever thought it was good was detroit become human and that was only because it is a movie game
They had a different solver before Uncharted 4. It was mostly hand animated with head mounted cameras as reference. TLOU2 used Parrot 2.0 which is more posed based and is better if the face is closer to the actor. Same reason they gave for the nu Peter Parker. Also the TLOU1 scenes in T2 didn't have the tracking dots so those flashback scenes were kind of a hack job reanimation.
The dots on the face are not needed for solving face data from head cameras.
They help, but are not necessary. Facial landmarks are enough. It really depends on the solving software
Parrot 2 needs them and the remake had to use a hack by putting the dot texture over the characters faces in Maya on the t1ps4 scenes. Having the dots is better for solving its just machine learning is much better with facial recognition than it used to be but it's still not as good as having a reliable landmark. Sonys new solver Toucan can do markerless as an option but the markered versions always had better results. Guess it depends on your machine learning but the phone stuff is much worse at tracking.
It doesn't, it's just clearer due to the absence of DOF blurring - it otherwise has smoother transitions and more minor strands that gives it a more natural look.
I'm actually surprised that TLOU 1 from 2013 actually seems to hold up totally fine compared to the remake. Like, I couldn't tell you which one of those screenshots was the remake if I didn't already know how the original game looked. This remake seems completely pointless in terms of graphical fidelity at least.
oh yeah, my bad. This is probably from the PS4 remaster and not the original PS3 version. Still, even more of a reason why this new remake seems a bit unnecessary.
naughty dog likes changing their artstyle between games. Drake doesn't really look the same at all in uncharted 123&4, Ellie's change is really dramatic because naughty dog made UC3 and 4 between TLOU 1 and 2. it's just the direction they chose to go with.
imo i don't know why devs don't change their artstyle's between games, all of Fromsoft's souls games look exactly the same except for bb and sekiro which aren't really souls games but use souls camera.
>uncharted film >NOT starring nathan Fillion >despite Nathan and friends fronting their own money to do that hilariously awesome AND accurate and fitting short film with him as drake.
There's no way he didn't. He's very vain and had the cash flow.
He settled down like three times and behaved like a woman each time. Drake would get work done forsure.
Yeah I know, as I said that particular shot in the OP makes her look awful for whatever reason - maybe the lighting I don't know. But the model looks fine in the other scenes.

Can't but down the reason why... might be the eyebrows.
It's the shadows that are making the left more expressive. A lot will be ruined in the remake for the flashest lighting.
Stop deadnaming Elliot you bigot sandwich
she lives on in the far-away mysterious land of poonerstania
