I love stardew Valley but I think it's ruined anything else similar that came before it for me. I tried playing story of seasons a wonderful life and I fricking hated it after playing a couple hours. The farming sucked, the fishing was terrible, I felt rushed and none of the bachelor options were interesting and all had personalities like planks of wood. I remember playing RF4 a little bit years ago and I kinda wanna go back because I've got an itch for a farming life sim but I don't feel like playing stardew again (over 400 hours logged probably)
Yeah, stardew valley has it's mistake but it also raised the bar on a lot of things about harvest moon type games, and the nips who made rune factory 5 did not get the message.

I'd never played harvest moon and played stardew on PC against my will because at the time it wasn't on console and stardew is great and Everytime I try a different game inspired by harvest moon it's fricking garbage in comparison to SV.

SV sold well because it took the classic pixelart Harvest Moon games and improved them. HM/SoS have been around for a long time, but they never got any fricking better. This is actually why I liked Rune Factory, because each game improved on the previous one. Until 5, that is, which mindlessly copied 4 while improving jack shit. This is the exact rut HM/SoS fell into.

Anons, playing comfy as frick harvest moon games with friends is fun as frick, all these farming games should have a co-op multiplayer.
The problem with stardew multiplayer though is that you need someone else who's interested in the gameplay loop of these and unless you mod your game you can only do co-op in stardew if the host is playing. It's not like a Minecraft server where people can come and go as they please

But still, playing a comfy no rush farming game with friends, all having a drink, talking about random shit and making jokes, has been one of the best multiplayer moments i ever had.

RF4 pretty much has all of those, and all are way better than in SV.

The castle is your comfy farmhouse with a dragon wife. You can only farm in that castle and in a couple of open areas, you can expand the castle farms
