I thought it was whatever. The leech monsters spooked me, and the chimps were irritating, but the bosses sucked. Especially the giant bat. Young Marcus dressing like a Final Fantasy character was silly.
It does have the most comfy and atmospheric starter zone with the zone, in my opinion.
But the character switching is annoying enough to where it doesn't make me want to replay it, unlike REmake, which I can replay no problem.
Agree, the opening train sequence is the best part. Didn't like the mansion as much as RE mansion. Funny how the opening train segment had better atmosphere than the mansion. Also hated character switching, but being able to drop items was nice.
Inventory management sucks because of the moronic decision to remove item boxes but once you memorize what you need and when, it's not so bad. Other wise it just involves frequently returning to the main hall where you dumped all your shit.
The train section is fine, but the rest of the game isn't even worth playing. The lack of an item box is insane - My most vivid memory of this game is dropping all of my items in a common area of each area and then having to pick up and drop all of my items to the next area. Complete trash
I enjoyed it and thought it was a cool continuation of the REmake look and feel. REmake is my second favorite RE game so I thought this one was fun on the cube
Awful game. The plot makes Zero sense, not just the leech shit or Marcus but Rebecca having a train adventure and killing Tyrants by herself in another Umbrella facility and then not mentioning any of it to Chris when she meets him in the mansion. The whole series is made worse by it's inclusion.
The RE:make needs to insert the mansion 1/4 of the way through the game, where Rebecca knows about zombies and a TEENY bit about Marcus, and meets Chris then.
Her little quest for Marcus shit takes her back to her areas and away from RE1 areas.
This is how you do the mansion inside of the RE:make era.
Not the whole thing, just an interlude mission.
loved the game but I admit most of it is because it was the first re I bought and finished, so I was more open to its faults than most. it's an acquired taste for sure, ironically enough I'm not a fan of the train at all. I love the oat and creepiness of the training facility and the treatment plant. love the idea of switching characters but the difficulty disappears once you know the specific locations where you might get in trouble.
Basically, I want to frick Rebecca.
shit
Slightly better than one because you can drop your items wherever you want
For me it's
2
3
Code Veronica
Remake
4
0
2 Remake
3 Remake
Revelations

The chimps are annoying little frickers but that makes it more satisfying to blast them across the room with the shotgun as they're jumping at you.

God i wish CAPCOM remade Resident Evil 2 and 3 in the GC instead because holy shit is that scenario beautiful as frick
It's the worst classic RE which makes it infinitely better than 4 and everything capcom shit out after
One of the worst of the main series, but still enjoyable to some degree
3rd favorite RE game and the first one I owned.
It has my favorite screen out of all of the classic games.
Too bad that's one of the worst parts of the game
I enjoyed it for what it was but have no interest in ever replaying it. Beautiful game, I'll give it that. Best looking of the classic REs.
SOUL
Shame they made Rebecca look like an ayylmao in the HD version.
The train section is so kino.
It was the Resident Evil 5 of the series before Resident Evil 5.
It filters classicgays and zoomers alike. Best designed true survival game as far as I'm concerned, but its not the best Resident Evil.
Inventory management sucks because of the moronic decision to remove item boxes but once you memorize what you need and when, it's not so bad. Other wise it just involves frequently returning to the main hall where you dumped all your shit.
Best parts are when you're solo without a partner
Worst parts are when you're stuck with a partner
Should have just been like RE2

It's alright until you reach the lab and then it's absolute hot doodoo
There should have been a way for the partner AI to fight off the frog's one shot or at least switch to them yourself and do it.

Boom, you just solved it.
The RE:make needs to insert the mansion 1/4 of the way through the game, where Rebecca knows about zombies and a TEENY bit about Marcus, and meets Chris then.
Her little quest for Marcus shit takes her back to her areas and away from RE1 areas.

I give it a solid 8/10
Mostly forgettable game. All I remember is the train section, which was pretty good, but after that just utterly forgettable.
