That sniper mission is fricking moronic. Suddenly a bunch of goons show up and snipe you with assult rifles from a mile away. I was up in a big ass sniper nest on a crane and I couldn't even stick my head out wihout getting sniped.
It's basically CoD singleplayer with a STALKER coat of paint on it.
I don't like how the mutants and anomalies are unexplained. STALKER has the noosphere and Fallout has the FEV and general B-movie fiction to explain the weird stuff. Metro is just "muh radiation", which doesn't fit with the otherwise quite serious theme.
So is STALKER but there is an explanation for it. Just suddenly having supernatural shit happening because some nukes went off is lazy and uncompelling.
The US used a variety of chemical weapons on Russia. Not just nuclear weapons. So it is not all explained away as just radiation, but experimental chemical attacks
the first two are good but Exodus feels a lot more aimless and boring though it manages to pull itself together for the ending. the captain dlc is also pretty good.

I gave it as an example dumb homosexual. What's the point of making it set in a mostly intact city(compared to previous locations and cities) then making you ride a boat for most of the time. Vladivostok is just a worse Volga because of that imo. Few apartments it had were cool though.
Played the non-redux versions of the first two. They were both great, and I enjoyed every DLC.
I kind of like Exodus. I think Open World was a mistake. My favorite levels were the ones you were forced into a linear level.

It 100% doesn't. I've played both and it's WAAAAAY brighter due to RTGI. They could have fixed the night lighting by just making the moon less bright. Because from what I'm seeing it's as bright as the sun.

2033 is one of my favourite games ever, last light is boring and shit and exodus is REALLY good in the linear sections, but just kinda alright in the open ones.
I really like them. They're very immersive, they have great environments and moody atmosphere and they're all around pretty charming. That said, they've steadily become less interesting with each new game and the new one had a total identity crisis.
I also feel they're a little conflicted about the type of experience they want you to have. The best way to play for me is in the hardcore mode with no HUD, but there are frequently light quick-time events that demand inputs you need to just know they're asking for because without the HUD it seems like it's just a cutscene, so that sucks.
The best game in the series is the open ended Kshatriya level in the Faction Pack for Last Light too. I was convinced that was the direction the 3rd game would go. Super disappointing.
Excited for the VR game!
It disappoints me that there isn't more hype for this game. AAA VR was considered dead for awhile, and now we're getting the perfect game for it. The only game more suited for VR might be Thief, but Metro is a close second.

2033 and last light were great. I loved the horror aspects. Exodus was cutscene hell for the first hour and then I gave up.

Semi-open world Metro game set in the actual metro sounds too good, so it will never be real
